Oak Bay Golf Course
About
Carved from the scenic woodlands along the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, Oak Bay Golf & Country Club incorporates rocky outcroppings and natural water features into its challenging championship design. The eastern coast of the bay is one of the largest freshwater archipelagos in the world and is home to diverse flora and hundreds of varieties of birds and fish. Both the fairways and greens are sloped and well manicured. In addition to the many natural challenges, which include trees and ponds, there are numerous strategically placed traps to watch out for. Oak Bay is located less than two hours north of Toronto but its beautiful setting makes it feel much further.

Hole 15, Par 3, If you make it over, green is two tiered! Photo submitted by taz4golf on 10/04/2013
The course was in excellent condition, the staff was really friendly and it was a good pace. Overall a very nice round at an amazing price. Very happy with the experience and look forward to playing it again
Very challenging especially for ladies
The greens had been aerated which took away from the beauty or the course and added an extra challenge. Front 9 very difficult, especially for ladies from the yellow tees. Rating seems low given the difficulty but back nine is very playable. Will have to come back and play when the greens are in good shape. Would recommend a course guide book, mainly for the front nine.
Amazing
What a course. Stunning views. Take lots of balls if you can't hit it straight. Fairways like a snooker table.
Amazing clubhouse. Staff very friendly. Great food.
Great Layout
Interesting course, great challenge, advised to have a supply of golf balls, too true.
Will be back now that I know the layout and best shots to play.
Hit them straight is a must!
Oak Bay Golf and Country Club
3rd time playing this course this year. Very tight course that demands proper club selection. But rewards you if you hit good shots. Picturesque course with many stunning holes. Staff are friendly and the food at the club house is excellent.
I have had nothing but good experiences at this course.
only for the experienced
I am a low 80,s golfer and this course is 1 tough test if you are off a bit you are in places that impossible to not only find your ball but retrieve it the day we played the course was wet from alot of rain 2 days prior it was cart path only and the bunkers where unplayable could use some real sand in them
Nor forgiving
Bring lots of balls...this course is tight...no room for errors.
Greens are fast and in excellent shape.
Absolutely love the layout. Shear beauty!
Well worth the drive up North!
Oak Bay in excellent condition
Greens, tee boxes and fairways all in superb condition. Nice staff, and we finished our round in 3 and a half hours. Very quiet mid week mornings from our experience.
Oak bay
For a course that is under complete construction. I would expect the price to reflect the surroundings . At $80 and a 40 minute drive from Barrie this course wouldn’t be my first choice again
So nice
Really beautiful course is ever seen.
But very difficult course.
great value not all dried out like courses in barrie
Great pace really friendly staff, great value absolutely stunning views and in great shape for the dry weather. Well worth the drive from Barrie. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Wow, what a gem
Please don`t forget your phone (camera) as I did, as there are numerous vistas on this course. Make sure you choose your tee blocks wisely as there are many holes with long forced carries to reach the fairway. The course was in excellent shape, both fairways and greens. Layout is extremely well thought out and fairly tight with lots of poison ivy to prevent too long of searching for stray shots. Will definitely be back before my memory of the layout fades.
Oak bay
Great course
Lots of water.. bring some stunt balls
Has one of the nicest par 3.. I have ever played
Staff was great
I will be back
Bring extra balls
Very challenging golf course. Make the shot or make a double! fairways and greens immaculate.
Great course!
Great conditions and very reasonable price. Food in the clubhouse was delicious with several wonderful chef specials. Staff was very friendly. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a little challenge.
Very nice tough course
The course is not long but very tight. Tee shots are critical. Hitting the fairway is a must, if you want to have any chance at par. That said, if you are accurate and able to hit fairways. 2nd shots tend not to be long, with lots of risk and reward. Course plays well for all handicaps, high or low.
The only negatives for the course. No driving range, and putting/chipping greens where not available, when I played. Which for me is a big deal, I need to put and chip to warm up.
Excellent
First time playing here...tough track with lots of water and several long carry rough holes....it was in fantastic shape for May...we were the only 2 on the front and did not see anyone until the late back nine...very friendly staff...all in all one of the best courses I've played and for $35. each it was a steal....highly recommend
Good test of golf
I have played this course from the middle decks a couple times and found it fair, played the tips for the first time and it dramatically changes the golf course. With no white stakes you are required to go back and hit 3 from the tee. The greens were ok for early season play but the bunkers were absolutely horrible (extremely hard pan) overall a decent day and likely will give it another go.
