Oak Bay Golf Course
About
Carved from the scenic woodlands along the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, Oak Bay Golf & Country Club incorporates rocky outcroppings and natural water features into its challenging championship design. The eastern coast of the bay is one of the largest freshwater archipelagos in the world and is home to diverse flora and hundreds of varieties of birds and fish. Both the fairways and greens are sloped and well manicured. In addition to the many natural challenges, which include trees and ponds, there are numerous strategically placed traps to watch out for. Oak Bay is located less than two hours north of Toronto but its beautiful setting makes it feel much further.

Good But
This course is very picturesque, and the conditions of the course itself decent. They have a goose problem and on a number of holes it was overly evident given the droppings on the green and the fairway. It is a narrow course and you need to be accurate. I do not like courses that take clubs out of your hand. Par 5's should not have 195 yards to the marsh but 301 to carry it. Why bring a driver. Pace was good and clubhouse is nice. They are building homes everywhere and that also creates an issue if you are accidentally off line. I am not sure I would play this course again. It just was not a course for me. But certainly if you love a great view, and there are some stunning holes you may enjoy this course.
Great course
Challenging, great reward/risk.
Pace was excellent
Staff were great
Definitely coming back.
Great course
Great layout and very well maintained.
Challenging and fun.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Pace of place was excellent.
Fairways are soft, needs a little adjustment with iron play.
Good value for the money
Employees are wicked
Have been playing golf for over 40 years and have never been more disappointed in a round.
Course is challenging and excellent condition. However, after round I addressed with several employees that course had no yardages available except the odd sprinkler head.. I was offered lies and eventually informed that I was supplied a cart with no GPS that most others had???
That explained everything about the yardage issues. I was supplied a cart without GPS, lied to after the round and was saddened about how the issue was handled after the round. Another classic example of pay your money, lied to and deceived by greedy management.
Never play there again you greedy goats !!!!!
Great course
Played here for the first time today course is in really great shape
Course A+, Bunkers get and F
About the 10th time I have played, new club house all open now and great but only patio open currently etc. Tee Decks, Greens, Fairways all A+. I am not sure if they are redoing the bunkers all are mud, grass growing, it looks like all the sand was removed?. Once that is fixed up it will be again worth the premium price or a get it on a good deal.
Thank you for your review. We did start to renovate our bunkers in the fall of 2019. The plan was to continue this spring but the current COVID-19 situation put a hold on it.
We are hoping to restart the renovation process this fall.
Kind Regards,
Management
Beautiful but a couple hiccups
Played the course yesterday. It was our first time, so that might be a factor with the “hiccups” we found. First, the good: great staff, good COVID procedures, almost perfect course conditions. Now, the “bad”: too many bunkers were in horrible condition — dried mud pits, even though we’ve had virtually zero rain for a couple weeks; some questionable routing, though in fairness I see this everywhere when they build a course with residential development throughout; a couple “unusual” hole layouts were a challenge to justify (tho again, that may be just because we’d never seen the course before).
We completely understand your concern with the bunkers. Renovations began in the fall of 2019 but were put on hold this spring due to COVID-19.
We hope to restart the process this fall and work towards having all repairs and renovations completed as soon as possible.
Kind Regards,
Management
Beauty course
This is a hidden gem and a very tough course but the scenic views are worth ever penny. Course is in amazing shape!
Really pretty course but very difficult until you get to know your way around
Oak bay golf
Great golf course enjoy playing here. The day we played the course had been severely drenched by severe rain stormmaking the course a lake. I don^t think it will be dryer out til June. I will return then. Note all bunkers were under water.
Beautiful course
Great looking course, green grass everywhere fantastic shape. Challenging course lots of natural features built into every hole. Par 3 sixth is a gorgeous shot mostly over water. Every hole is a unique challenge and the clubhouse is beautiful new building with about anything you'll need. Great round everytime!!
We are sorry to hear that you feel this way about your experience. We do have yardages on all of our sprinkler heads as well as 200, 150 and 100 yard plates.
We have purposefully avoided putting out stakes this year due to COVID-19.
We also apologize that you had one of our few carts without GPS. Our current confirmations clearly state that carts are available on a first come first serve basis. This sometimes leads to using an older cart in order to ensure you get a cart as booked in your reservation
Would be happy to speak with you directly again as I recall our discussion ending with you saying you would be back.
Kind Regards,
Management
