Carved from the scenic woodlands along the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, Oak Bay Golf & Country Club incorporates rocky outcroppings and natural water features into its challenging championship design. The eastern coast of the bay is one of the largest freshwater archipelagos in the world and is home to diverse flora and hundreds of varieties of birds and fish. Both the fairways and greens are sloped and well manicured. In addition to the many natural challenges, which include trees and ponds, there are numerous strategically placed traps to watch out for. Oak Bay is located less than two hours north of Toronto but its beautiful setting makes it feel much further.

tough, but fair. great value for Muskoka golf.

Oak Bay is fairly new, but doesn't play that way. The course is a great mix of long and short holes. The greens are in great shape and roll true.

The course is pretty tight. Like most Muskoka courses, you're in either in play, or you're out. Even though it's tight, it's fair because it's short. In other words, you don't need to hit driver all over the place.

The course has many memorable holes. Most momerable is the 15th. A very unique par 3. Quick impressive looking from the tee.

The course is very walkable.

For a short drive up from Toronto, this course is in great shape and have very challenging holes especially the par 3's

Great course in amazing shape with very friendly staff. If you get a chance to play it before it becomes more busier and after the clubhouse opens, highly recommended and its not far from Toronto too. Really scenic holes and very challenging par 3's.

Great condition; greeat views

The course is in great condition and requires accuracy and good shot making. Better to "tee it forward" here.unless you're a single digit handicap player.

Only downside....missing the finished clubhouse.

Narrow and lots of carries!

If you can hit it long and straight, this is the course for you.

There are many long carries over hazards off the tee boxes and the fairways are close to the treelined edges. If you hook or slice, you can assume that you will not find your ball. If you do not make it over the hazard, you can assume that you will not find your ball.

I will play it again with a different mindset. I found the lateral hazards to be playing with my mind. And I tried to hit it harder...and that is a recipe for disaster.
Greens are clean and subtle, speeds vary with location but they roll true.

Hit it sweet and straight and take your partner's money!

This was a great course for the value.

For a course that is only three years old it was in prime condition. It is a beautiful laid out golf course with great views and interesting holes. My wife found it very lady friendly (challenging but fair). Would highly recommend this course as a must play.

Great all around

Sure they haven't finished their mansion Pro-Shop, but the course and the staff are 1st class. The course was challenging for an beginner/amateur like myself but it was great learning. I would definitely come back again.

course is too difficult for double digit handicaps. very narrow.

Have tried very hard to like this course but my interest in playing here is pretty much over.

Remember when the Rock golf course closed for a year to make some changes, Oak Bay should do the same.

Also very leery of the entire Oak Bay Project. Construction seems to have stopped. Club House has been over 3 years in the making and not ready for opening any time soon.

Oak Bay is a 'must play'.

Oak Bay is a wonderfully picturesque course that was in amazing condition when we played. In most cases, greens were fairly flat with only subtle breaks, but the more narrow fairways and wild natural rough provided the challenge. Hole 15 was spectacular! We will certainly play this one again.... and again.

This course is not designed for high handicappers

We had our 10:00am 'all you can play' tee time set through GolfNow. When we arrived it was raining hard and the round was cancelled. Rather than simply telling us to return later, we had to go through all the hassle of contacting GolfNow and cancelling the reservation. When the rain subsided and the sun came back out, we arrived back at the course around 1:40pm. With only one other group gathering their equipment, we had to beg the manager, David, to let us pay the reduced 2:00pm rate. Like our tee time booked earlier, we assumed that we could play until dark should we wish. How wrong we were. Who was in a cart waiting for us after completing our 18 holes in about 2.5 hours? It was David wanting to escort us off the course. Even though there was no one in sight, he demanded an additional $16.00 dollars each to play 9 more holes. Hence, rather than the $ 75.00 play all day through GolfNow, we had to fork over almost $ 100.00 each to play 27 holes. Given the competitive nature of the Muskoka golf market and the fact that aside from staff, there were only 5 golfers on the entire course we expected appreciation for gutting it out until 2:00pm rather than the gouging we experienced with manager David. This left a very bad taste in our mouth overall. The golf course is nothing short of spectacular, but the current management in place would have us recommend that you pass on this gem until the big bosses realize that some shakeup is required.

Worth the drive

My wife and I had never been to Oak Bay and where excited to try it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, wanting us to enjoy our round of golf. Because the clubhouse is not finished you check in at a trailer and your first hole is number eight and finishing hole is ten, you get 18 holes in. Part of the course is open and then into the woods and rocks of Muskoka. We rode and glad we did with the hilly terrain. We will be going back and taking friends.

Great condition and getting better.

Love the course layout, greens and fairway conditions. Best greens for the money and then some. Like the dense rough situation. If your in there forget looking for it, drop and keep playing. Should speed up pace of play instead of heading in there on an Easter Egg hunt. Will be back to play again!

Challenging and scenic, accurate tee shots are a must

This course was not long but required excellent course management. Greens and fairways were in pristine condition, and due to the recent dry conditions the greens were super fast. I thoroughly enjoyed the round and will be going back. The round starts on hole 8 due to clubhouse construction, but this did not effect our round at all.
