Eighteen Hole at Valley International Country Club
About
Set amongst the tall palm trees and tropical conditions, this 18-hole course was one of the first tracks in the Rio Grande Valley. Built on both sides of the coastal tributary, water comes into play on 12 holes. Beware of the wind, but when it's calm your tee shots will find wide fairways and generous landing areas, and the approaches are into medium-sized greens with an average speed. Get to know the speed of these fair greens and you will start rolling in 10-20 footers with confidence.
Hole 4 is the number one handicap and plays 422 yards from the tips, where water crosses the fairway in the landing area and menaces over the right side of the hole. Other notable holes are the long par 3 10th hole with its peninsula green, as well as the 17th (512-yard par 5), which is loaded with water on the right that crosses in front of the green.
Getting there : On south Hwy. 77, exit FM 802 and turn right. Proceed to McAllen Rd and turn left, where the road eventually dead-ends at the parking lot.

Almost out of bussiness
Looks like they are giving it up. Greens were mowed, but that was about it. Weeds growing everywhere, cans laying around, tees had not been moved in at least 10 days. Some fairways were partially mowed. Weeds 12 inches tall everywhere else. Blown down tree limbs laying everywhere. No sand/seed mix in any of the containers on the carts. The back tee on 17 was so overgrown that it was hard to tell it was a tee. I know they had the clubhouse destroyed by a fire, but that's no excuse for the condition of this course. Nobody was on the course at all when we arrived to play at 11:45. Looks like nobody is playing this course now. There were no employees working on the grounds at all. Looks like, to me, they are not going to rebuild & just letting it go. I won't play there again. As a matter of fact, I quit after 11 holes. A shame!!!
VICC
The course was not busy even though we teed off at 1:00 on Wednesday. The reason is in part because a large number of Winter Texans have returned home, also because the course has changed management and the general condition has diminished over the past few years. We signed in and were issued a cart without delay and had satisfactory rate of play. We enjoyed our game on a course that needs work.
Great value
It was good value for the price but the condition was not good either the greens or the fairways. The tees were also poor.
Nevertheless it was ideal for practice on your own, or for a cheap round with friends to socialize.
The ambiance was very nice broken only by incessant mowers who seem to be making a lifetime project out of their work.
Overall -price makes the difference.
Good Value
Course overall in fair condition greens OK , fairways had some dead areas or little grass had to move the ball
Horrible Course.
This course is overpriced for the conditions. Poor fairways and greens. Cart paths are beat up with pot holes. Front desk staff is rude and condescending. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. The layout is nice but just not kept up with. Management needs to be switched out.
Great time
Excellent day for golf. Fairways were a little bare but all courses are this time of year in Rio grande valley. Staff very friendly and helpful. Greens a little fast but very playable. Great day on the course!
Fun little course
Not in perfect shape but greens are good and the course has a few challenging/interesting hole.
Just so-so course, not much challenge. Course not well maintained. Very friendly staff in pro shop. Scramble that was not listed as event on the course calendar made play very slow. Felt price was too high for this course.
great savings
great savings and the money we saved had a great dinner
This is a very affordable and nice course.
Nice course with lots of water hazards. Tee boxes could use some work. Nice carts. Staff very friendly.
Enjoyed our day
The course is well laid out with plenty of long holes so I used All of my clubs and had its challenges with a lot of water. We were not delayed at all and 2 of us played 18 in just over 3.5 hours. The fairways and greens are rough and very dry. It was great value from Golf Now for $13.
Fair Golf Day
Staff and members are not very inviting. I felt like I was not wanted there....will not return
when do they let the goats on the course to cut the grass
I play all over north America. this was the worst kept course I have ever seen or ever played
why would golfnow even be promoting it
A nice place to play
VICC came through a tough summer(water wise, no rain) in verygood shape. Fairways and tees are green and the greens , while somewhat slow, have grass everywhere. They are over seeding this coming week so there will be much better greens in 4-6 weeks. Good value for the money and a nice facility.
