Eighteen Hole at Valley International Country Club
About
Set amongst the tall palm trees and tropical conditions, this 18-hole course was one of the first tracks in the Rio Grande Valley. Built on both sides of the coastal tributary, water comes into play on 12 holes. Beware of the wind, but when it's calm your tee shots will find wide fairways and generous landing areas, and the approaches are into medium-sized greens with an average speed. Get to know the speed of these fair greens and you will start rolling in 10-20 footers with confidence.
Hole 4 is the number one handicap and plays 422 yards from the tips, where water crosses the fairway in the landing area and menaces over the right side of the hole. Other notable holes are the long par 3 10th hole with its peninsula green, as well as the 17th (512-yard par 5), which is loaded with water on the right that crosses in front of the green.
Getting there : On south Hwy. 77, exit FM 802 and turn right. Proceed to McAllen Rd and turn left, where the road eventually dead-ends at the parking lot.

Course is good
Course is good and challenging
Brownsville VICC
Maintain play on fairways for approach to greens
Greens ok, fairway fair
Green conditiona are ok but fairways need a little work
The lay put is good!!
South Texas Golf
In general courses in south Texas are not well kept ,not sure why ! This course is not overly priced but could use a lot of maintanance ,one thing that drives me crazy is the Saint Augustine grass around the greens ,make sure you get the Hot deal !
Golf in the south
It was great to get out and golf at a very reasonable price!
Great Layout - Poor Condition
Played from the gold tess at Valley Inn. I have not been there in twenty years and the course has been completely run down with hard clay fairways and little grass to chose from. The best grass in the fairway was the carpet grass and the clover with bunkers having very little sand. It looks like they have not watered in a few weeks and the carpet paths are full of potholes and one bridge on the course has collapsed but people are still using it. Weird! all the planters on the tee boxes have decayed and collapsed and trash has accumulated for weeks and months. The layout has always been good from the gold tees but the collapse of the administration there and their disregard for the course is appalling. Sell it or find a new club director

Greens were very good but very slow. They have been overwatered. Approach and tee shots would plug in their landing spot. No patches or dead areas on the greens. They were in pristine condition, just too slow due to the saturation. Fairways need attention on a few holes. Very hard and barren in spots. Resacas lining the final holes reek of dead fish or bodies? Pretty strong stench. Granted, that's not under their control, but wow! Booked online as a hot deal. Even with my whining, I'd play it again and recommend it. I got spoiled playing all the courses in Houston and Florida. The price online wasn't a deal, it was a steal!! Pickins are slim here in Brownsville and this place will do, until Trump buys it and refurbishes it. Yea, that'll happen....
once upon a time
Course was good, but I've seen the course much much better.
Greens need work.
Terrible
This course is in bad shape. Bad shape. I know it's hot down here but this course is hard and dry. Other courses aren't as bad off as this one. Not sure what kind of grass is on the greens but it is terrible. Thick and slow. I hadn't played there in years but did so because I had business in the area. don't do it, it's just not worth it.
The course was in great shape
Water fountain had cold water to stay hydrated. Greens were in very good condition. Fairways were a bit dry and hard. Plenty of roll.
VICC
course is hard and dry - greens are the same as always. For $15 it was not bad
Better bring your own water
No coolers on the course and the greens are bumpy. Don't expect to make alot of putts.
Not a bad course for a practice round.
Friendly staff.
Good Value
For the price, this course was pretty good. The course was very dry, and the greens were pretty slow and not very smooth. If the rate hadn't been cheap, I wouldn't really recommend playing there. The course was pretty challenging, with lots of water hazards.
nice course
nice course it is improving greens need a little work but overall I would recommend playing at this course. Lots of water which makes challenging.
extremely slow play
friendly staff, nice course..The problem with this course is slow play. We played behind a group of six golfers. All local guys. The staff told them twice they couldn't play Six but they kept doing it and held everyone up. Some people couldn't finish just because of that group of six. They need a Ranger to keep these guys honest.
Makes you use every club in your bag
Interesting course with lots water. Lots of different holes that make you use every club in your bag. Greens are good fairways could use a little work in spots. Take some extra balls because the ponds claim a few. Overall good value.
What the frak?!

Why is it hard to find this course? Yes, I did use Google GPS and iPhone's Map GPS, both directed me to different areas doesn't look like golf course. Looks like it's destinated for locals. I was fortunate to get help from a hotel that has a map which include this golf course as one of the town's major attractions.
The front desk was nice enough to let me play even though I arrived late.
Not only that, I'm a 41 year old black dude, wanting to buy two Dos Equis beers, and this dude didn't ask the younger looking guy before me for ID. HE has the nerve to ask me for ID? That's insulting.
Please get this addresss updated with ALL GPS programs.
Too many multi groups!
The course allows fivesomes and even six or seven golfers to play together. Often they don't know the courtesy of letting a twosome play through. Can be very frustrating watching rookie golfers hit from the blue tee blocks and only hitting it about 50 yards. Couse itself is in good shape.
