Eighteen Hole at Valley International Country Club
About
Set amongst the tall palm trees and tropical conditions, this 18-hole course was one of the first tracks in the Rio Grande Valley. Built on both sides of the coastal tributary, water comes into play on 12 holes. Beware of the wind, but when it's calm your tee shots will find wide fairways and generous landing areas, and the approaches are into medium-sized greens with an average speed. Get to know the speed of these fair greens and you will start rolling in 10-20 footers with confidence.
Hole 4 is the number one handicap and plays 422 yards from the tips, where water crosses the fairway in the landing area and menaces over the right side of the hole. Other notable holes are the long par 3 10th hole with its peninsula green, as well as the 17th (512-yard par 5), which is loaded with water on the right that crosses in front of the green.
Getting there : On south Hwy. 77, exit FM 802 and turn right. Proceed to McAllen Rd and turn left, where the road eventually dead-ends at the parking lot.

Fun course
A little tricky finding hole #1 but it was an enjoyable fun course
Valley International
Nice course. There could have been much better signage to indicate course hole numbers. We got turned around a couple of times, as did a few other golfers. Greens are in great shape.
Good value
I paid $15 with cart and was good value. Course is laid out in housing development. Some you almost hit over house. Has good variety of holes. Maintenance could be better. Greens are ok.
Fun day
Showed up as a single. Two seniors and one middle aged invited me to play with them. Fun group. Two 80s shooters and two 90s shooters. .Fun 3.5 hour round. We played the senior tees which required some course knowledge on some short, challenging par 4s. Conditions were acceptable with quick greens. Light rough was very playable. Good deal for the price.
golf course
Fairways need some trimming. Navigation of course requires attention. Bunkers require attention.
sixsome
I have played this course before and enjoyed the course. The last time I played there was a group of six playing two groups ahead of us. This backed up the whole course. Without marshalling this activity can happen repeatedly. The golfers that played as a group of six,and got away with doing it, will do it again.
Pace of play was somewhat slow. We had to wait on every hole. This is the second time we have had the people behind us hit close to us. The greens are improving. With some rain this course should improve a lot.
Enjoyed the day
I've played the course several times and always enjoyed the day. Clubhouse burned last year but they have carried on with temporary house.
Fair test of golf
Course has character and will test the skill of any "bogey" golfer. Tee boxes were a little rough, but probably normal for this time of year. The round was enjoyable.
Flat layout with water hazards
The course plays longer than the card. Water comes into play on a number of holes. The sand traps are more like ground under repair as they need major face lift. The course is good value for the money but is not chalenging
Course is bad
Last year the club house and all facilities were destroyed by fire. SAD. A temporary pro shop is set up in an old neighboring house. Only water and sport drinks were available for purchase. Now regarding course conditions. Ruff has not been mowed for weeks and is mostly weeds. If your ball leaves the fairway good luck finding it. Fairways were in reasonable shape although lots of weeds cut short so ball rolled fairly good. Greens were also weedie but greens were cut short so ball rolled out fairly good. I have played on worse greens.
I don't know if the course is privately owned or owned by the city. Either way I don't see how this course will survive another 6 months. It's sad and I certainly feel sorry for the employees. Golfnow should visit the course and determine if it is in there best interest to remain partners with VICC.
Very nice course. Great value. Just wish I could play better.
