Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Ontario (2014 #20)
Reviews
Great course
Unreal greens as they ran very true. Tough course with unique holes
Golf this good should not be this cheap!
Hunter's Pointe is an enjoyable course to play, and an outstanding value - so much so that I actually joined the course as a member for 2014. I've played this course several times, so this review represents my overall opinion rather than one isolated experience.
Hunter's Pointe is well staffed with friendly attentive folks all over the place. Pro shop, starter, beverage cart, clubhouse - everyone I've encountered has been super nice.
The golf course itself is fun to play, with a nice mix of long and short holes. On calm days there are lots of birdies to be had, but when the wind blows the course takes on a whole new character. Greens are some of the best in the area, especially considering the volume of play the course receives. The same cannot be said for the bunkers, which are sadly in need of total overhaul. Fairways and tees are also in nice shape most of the time, although tend to drain slowly after rains.
Pace of play is perhaps the biggest negative. There are frequently tournaments scheduled at popular times and there's simply just a lot of play. The course represents such outstanding value that I guess a lot of people want to take advantage of it. Expect to take about 5 hours on a busy weekend day.
November Golf
Have played the course a few times before and have always enjoyed playing there. Yesterday was a cold and windy November day, and the course was relatively empty. We finished the round in about 3.5 hrs.
Course was in great condition for November. The greens were a bit rough as they were just aerated not too long ago.
Enjoyed the routing of the course, a nice design. All and all, a nice round for perhaps the last one for the season.
course is a links style course
the course is a links styled course not your typical parhlands course with many great holes
Great layout links style course
It was a cold and windy day - almost like the links in Scotland. Always fun to play.
Great Course
Had a Great day golfing and Lunch. Staff was most accommodating.
There are many challenging holes on this course
The staff where very helpful from checking in to getting set up with a cart and giving direction on the course layout. The assortment of holes was very interesting with rolling terrain and lots of water to keep you on your toes. This called for really keeping your ball in the fairway. I found the 18th hole to be a great finishing hole as it had all the elements, elevated tee, dogleg right with water down the right side and finishing with a shot over water to a large rolling green.
Interesting and challenging course
This was our first time at Hunter's Pointe. We quite enjoyed the round. The course is challenging yet fair, the greens are in great condition. We will return next year.
Hunters Pointe is awesome!!!
Played yesterday, beautiful day, great course. Tough but fair. Totally enjoyed the experience. Great Greens. Very well maintained. Delightful day. Best by far in this area. Puts the Parks Commission to shame.
Challenging
Nice links style course, we really enjoyed. Greens are fast and well managed course.
Hunter's point gc offers challenges from scratch golfer to high handicaps.
Well maintained. Picturesque course. Friendly staff.
I have played this course many times over the years and it has always been a delight. Currently, with fall rates in effect, it is a great bargain.
This course always is in excellent condition, from tees to greens. It offers a variety of holes, many with significant elevation changes and a number of large ponds. It is very playable given the variety of tees, and has always been enjoyable to play.
I love this course
We went after 2 or 3 days of heavy rain so we knew that the course would not be able to displace all of the rain.Bunkers were totally out of play but we made the best of a hot deal from golf now and had a lot of fun.We had to keep the carts on the path and that made sense.I will play hewre quitye often when I can get a good deal.
Great value for money
We had a group of 8 play on October 3rd and we had a wonderful time. The staff was incredibly freindly and we absolutely loved the cousre save for 1 item -- the sand traps. The sand was like cement. I think road sand would be better to play out of. I have played out of better traps at courses that charge far less. I actually hurt my wrists trying to take some sand on one hole
.
The club house is spectacular. Other than the issue with the sand traps I would suggest to anyone who hasn't played this course to do so; I don't think you will be disappointed. I will be back for sure.
Best Course, Best Value, Period
Ok, so I've been playing the Niagara courses for quite some time, and I tell ya, Hunters Pointe is right up there - maybe only Grand Niagara can compare. Try it out, but leave your pride at the first tee; she's a beast, but also a beauty. I was paired up with some members, nice people. Thank you golfnow!
6th time playing it, it has always been a wonderful experience!!
The greens were in great shape. The overall course appearance was terrific. The only negative comment I have is they need more sand in the traps. Especially the greenside traps!
A good test of one's ability.
This is a great course and the value provided through golfnow was great. Staff is friendly and got us out early when we were all ready to go.
We were followed by several 2somes which is a bit annoying because you can feel rushed for no reason. In my opinion 2-3 twosomes should not expect to play thru foursomes.
Course is really challenging. Greens were not all that receptive to holding balls. Consider running it up.
the scenery is great and the holes challenging
Course was in good shape the links style was enjoyable and challenging. Friendly and helpful staff and the clubhouse is very nice,
This course is a great golf challenge
Excellent day of golf. Looking forward too playing again. Excellent Value.
