Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Heron Course
About
The Heron Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club. It is the club's newer championship layout, designed to complement the original course, the executive-length Sparrow. It is 6,765 yards from the back tees but it feels as though it is considerably longer since many holes play into the prevailing wind. The golf course combines elements of classic links, parkland, and Carolinian courses. The generous fairways are guarded by bunkers and the large, fast greens are gently contoured and surrounded by trees. Water is a prominent feature throughout, coming into play on all but four holes. The layout saved the most challenging for last with its signature 18th hole, a par 3 with a tricky island green.

Greens are excellent, fairways dry with excessive weeds
Played Heron for the first time in 3 years. Course is dry and hard which contrasts how it played first year Cardinal bought the property. Greens are excellent, hard and fast. Unfortunately due to covid, I am unable to comment on services.
I would recommend that fairway weeds are killed and fairways are over seeded. This would dramatically increase my opinion of the course. Not upto the standards of Cardinal Newmarket.
Layout and condtions.
Greens rolled NO bumps. Very fast.
Fairways short and fast.
Excellent condition.
hidden gem
worth the drive from Burlington....played Heron many times....always different winds and approaches
greens were great today...fast, trimmed and rolled
need to get prices down for Welland....
used to pay $30 with a cart on hot deals.....
not $36 and the cart $25 per rider....a $69 round if not walking......good course to walk and save yourself $$
The course is in great shape. Pace of play was fabulous. We were paired up with a really nice couple. Weather was great. Good day.
Only complaint is the price of the cart...approx $50 is crazy.
Cardinal Lakes -Huron
Great safety precautions in place and course in great shape. The only difficulty was no 200,150 or 100 yard stakes in place so guessing at yardage every hole unless you wanted to wonder looking for yardage plates in the fairway. Great day out nonetheless
Still good
Been playing here for 6 years and live an hour away....
New owners always improving the layout....
Fairways were good and greens were good, but still a lot of water around from previous rains...
Avoided all the storms on Friday which was good.......
Prices are up like everywhere......
$53 for a cart was nuts......so walked
Good little course
Played here for only y second time with my father today. Even after all the rain we had, the course was in excellent condition. The greens were surprisingly fast and well groomed. Played 18 holes as a twosome in 3.5 hours. Find it a little pricy during other times of the year.
Great course for late October
Wow, surprised about the great greens conditions so late in October. PS, dont overhead the breaks on the green as they are less than u see. Overall, course layout was very good, long par 4s to challenge your drive and second shots. Very wide open, great for sprayers, but watch the water ponds that caught many shots . Would definately play again and consider a membership if I lived closer by. Overall conditions were great But, would clearly recommend cart paths need much improvements as pending and mud buildup on paths really beat up the course.
Best value course in Niagara
Looks like they are burying the traps. I am always saddened when golf courses give up on traps instead of making good drainage and adding sand. I know that transport trucks of sand comes up from Cleveland at $600 is not that expensive. It is not just this course that seem unwilling to do what should be a no brainer.

One of my new favorite courses. Food and snack hours/service could be better set up but course is a beauty. Phenomenal greens,
Excellent course.
Had a great time and this course and a beautiful weather day at that. Will play here again

Yes, it's a challenge to keep traps up to expectations, but realize that maintenance of traps is one of the costliest aspects of maintenance, ul to 30% of costs, let alone initial sand. Most players do not know how or do not rake traps hence leaving further complaints from other players. Sad, but real.
