Brazos County #1
Public courses are more fun, always been ... even in Hawaii on vacation. It's the ambiance & the people met.
Was very grateful for the new membership deals @ TAMU that brought me back home to my favorite course since grad.school in the 70's. Both courses had/have wonderful personalities and encourage golf play. This is located most central to all in Brazos Co.
Contrary to reviews of slow play, my rebuttal is hahaha since renewed member March 2018 and 2-3/week experiences here. Slow play on Saturdays or afternoon Sundays will be found anywhere in the county since Bryan Muni closed! The rest of the time, better not dautle or allow others through + Rangers grease the friction for best play for all.
Course improvements are going on everywhere daily, on top of the course makeover that brought top drawer greens, perfect sand bunkers, grass every place your ball might land unintentionally. Whatever you find lacking today compared to other venues, may soon be installed, so come back often.
Staff everywhere is a pleasure from student/experts in clubhouse to maintenance that stops during your play!! to anyone taking care of all things, wish to make your experiences memorable.
Thanks to the kindness of others, I have played every course sans Miramount in Brazos & Grimes counties. If given a free pass to one of them, TAMU Campus Course would be my choice, hands down.
Certainly all the others have a wonderful forte of their own, to each their preference. Pricing, experienced top managers, food/drink, exclusivity, senior groups, hit-away & long-ball designs, etc. I find here as well or becoming or competitive rapidly.
Trump card: None hold as many memories as this one "being home" again.
Finally, with my seasonal, wildly fluctuating handicap, I rated this course extremely challenging NOT because of poor maintenance you find elsewhere, NOT ala the Ko'olau Golf Club jungle but because you can make it as you wish by simply choosing a more challenging tee box and get a different viewpoint of play - same course.
Great course
Course was in good shape and the ball rolled well on the greens. Lots of sand traps! Enjoyed the round and would definitely play here again when in the area.
One of the top TWO around Brazos County

Pebble Creek CC at higher rates is the only course that rivals this Campus Course at times in quality, attractiveness and attention to detail outside the clubhouse.
Compare to others:
Pecan Lakes - cattle field, long drive
Briarcrest, new "City Course" - crowded, ungroomed for 2+ years, rough driving range
Pebble Creek - $$$$ + members only
Traditions - $$$$$ + members only + long ball hitters only, snake pits and some are snooty
Miramount - $$$$$$$ + members only + who cares?
Hearne - 9 holes pasture for long drive rewards
New management has been overwhelmingly proactive in improvements, daily. Even more services coming soon.
Grass everywhere, except 163 sand traps but it's the GOOD sand. Greens now surpass the top notch Briarcrest standards of old. Rangers are tops.
Some memberships include unlimited tees, range balls, carts, tee times + extras.
Best greens on a publics course
I find most public golf courses annoying when it comes to the greens, this course is excellent and what you'd expect at a great AG school. Definite worth the play.
Improved Condition
Course condition has improved since I played here earlier this year. No more irrigation leaks flooding parts of the golf course. The greens were good despite being top-dressed the day before. Golf shop is ran by a back office manager & student help. No course marshal! Student twosome ahead of us had two holes open ahead of them...we were a foursome & had to wait every shot.
Fortunately we have great Marshall’s who understand
Played behind a group of older golfers. Twenty minutes for one hole would have put us at six hour round. Marshalls understood both sides. Asked that we play through at their convenience. Class. Thank you for everything you do.
Greens in great shape
The drought we’ve had has not been kind to the fairways. However, the greens were great. A big shout out of appreciation to the young men and women who played in the PGA sectional this weekend. Ball marks on the greens were all repaired and you couldn’t tell a junior tournament had preceded you. These kids really respected the course. Kudos to their parents for all the support they provided. I especially enjoy the professionalism of all the staff in the pro shop. Always great you with a smile to let you know you are welcome on their course.
Campus Course
Course will be great in about 1 month. They had aerated the greens about a week before so they are slow. They just have snacks at the turn, no food. But I am going back. It is about two and a half hrs from my home, but well worth the drive.
A promising start to Spring
Greens are as fast and almost identical to what they were when the course reopened several years ago. The course was packed and pace of play slow. Marshall was present but groupings really could not have sped up. However, a group of two that were paired with us refused to play with us. These foreign nationals must understand that this slows the pace for everyone when the group is split. I play golf to meet people and have a lot of fun in doing so. You never know who you may meet so enjoy the pairings!
Nice course poor pace of play
This is a really nice course with a very friendly staff.
However the pace of play was horrible. We teed off just after 11:00 am and it took us 5.5 hours to play. It was windy but I can't fathom why they can't require a quicker round. There was a marshal driving around but I think he felt powerless to do anything
Nice course for the money, but slow pace of play
I've played the course numerous times. It's a nice course for the price, but sometimes the pace of play is a little slow. They usually don't have marshalls, so the pace of play is usually that of the slowest group on the course. Sometimes you can play under 4 hours, but other times it might take more than 5.
Texas A&M Golf Course Fall 2017
Grabbed a hot deal for $25!! It took 2 of us 3 hours to play 18!! We only had to wait on a few holes. Greens were fast and in decent shape. Would recommend to others .
Fun Track
Ever since they reconstructed this course, it has been an enjoyable round of golf. Greens are superb for the value of course. Tee boxes and fairways are in really good condition.
Cheers to the staff and management!
Great course/Friendly staff
Great course and possible the best greens I played during my stay in Texas. Hanna in the clubhouse was very friendly and helped us set up a tee time at another course since you are closed Tuesday mornings. Thanks Hanna!
Will for sure play again.
It's about meeting great people
I've reviewed this course previously as one of my favorites. I got a long time wish to again play with a gentleman from my former golf club who I admired greatly. When his club had outings, he took his nephews to TAMU golf course. And thanks to an early hot deal, I got to play again with him. You never who you may be paired with but I look forward to meeting great folks who just love to play golf!
Great Greens
Course is in great shape. Greens are so true. If you get it on line it goes in. Made 16’ and 18’ birdies. Broke 80. Good day.
Gigme
good way to spend a game day a round of.golf then the game the people are friendly and the food is good will plan on doing this more
