Stonebridge at Newport

Greens & cart path need more attention. I like the carts, they are usually clean & dependable. This is my favorite local area course, especially since repairs to the bunkers were Finally completed.

First and foremost I want to say that this course is a hidden gem in the Houston area. I learned how to play golf here by putting my practice on the range to the test. The course conditions this time were a 5/10. When the last time I played here it was a 8/10 on the greens and tees. Maybe the heavy rain during last week may have caused some damage but I’m no expert. Anyhow, this course is great because of pace of play.

Greens rolled nice, edges didn’t look to good. Rough around greens was thick!

I’ve heard a new owner is doing good things. I lay played this course in the spring and they have finished repairing the traps after Harvey.

Good food after round and nice beer cart gal.

Once again, very amazed that no Houston craft beer is available. Very shortsighted of ownership/Management. There are over twenty craft breweries in Houston. Get some of that great beer y’all!

Greens & Cart paths still need some work. Overall, this course is fun to play & I'll continue to come back.

Course was in good condition. Drink cart was very visible all morning. Pro Shop worker was friendly. Bunkers were playable. Some of the greens had some brown patch, a few areas of the cart path need repair, but for the most part the course was in good condition & we had a nice round.

Was really good playing. All the sand traps are open and more challenging and now the green on 13 is open. The sand on the green made it challenging, really depends on where they put the hole. Great coarse. Must play to appreciate

Some of the greens still need attention. Glad bunker work is finished. Some of the cart paths have deep crater holes. Pro shop worker was friendly. Overall, the course was in good condition & was fun to play.

I get tired of the constant & ongoing repair projects that always have at least one hole closed or blocked with machines or workers. Several greens need some of the attention. I happened to play on mowing morning & had to deal with large, wet piles of grass on the course. There is never a Marshal to keep the slow players moving. The Positve-I really like this course, it is fun to play & the older pro shop worker is much friendlier than the usual younger man. I’ll increase the Review Stars when repair projects are finally complete.

all holes were playable; long overdue. Work still being done on course but playable throughout. New employee working cart is great. Great addition to Stonebridge.

The greens were aerated and there was no note of GolfNow. The fairways were in very poor condition - lots of weeds everywhere. All fairway bunkers are being grown over so it looks really bad. Looked this course a few months back but it was not in good condition on Sunday.

Course was good overall. A little too unforgiving off the tee box with very tight fairways for my liking as fairways are narrow.

Greens need a little work with patchy grass. Bunkers still in repair progress. For the cost, it’s good course with potential, but still a work in progress.

First time to play Newport. Short course but Left & Right doglegs with OB down both sides put a premium on good drives. Really liked #18 finishing hole with island green. Sunday afternoon round, decent pace of play, course in okay shape, nearly all bunkers need work, temporary green on 13, some isolated bare spots and a lot of thin spots in fairways, tee boxes in okay shape, greens in decent shape & really fast, friendly staff in pro shop & clubhouse, nice cart girl, would play again especially with a GolfNow deal.

Wow, this course has done some tremendous upkeep. FYI...they are still working on bunkers (drainage), but the greens are looking better than last year. I started playing this course 3 yrs ago and I play it every other month. The change is very noticeable.

Great deal for the money, excellent staff and everyone is very friendly, cart girl always on course, they are working on the bunkers will be great when they finish bunker work. 4 out of 5 stars. Great course to work on your game. I am working in the Houston area on hurricane Harvey response work, the staff at Stone bridge always goes out of there way to accommodate me when I play. This is a very cool golf course mostly for the sights. The lodge is very cool, there is woods that surround the course. I liked the atmosphere - even when you pull into the parking lot, you travel down a nice road through a nice neighborhood. The drive on the course is beautiful.

Now, for the conditions: they're meh, but it is still too early in the season to expect too much. The grass needs a little work as do the greens. The sand traps aren't good. I expect the grass to improve as the season goes on. I would play here again as I actually had a great experience.
