Constant Repair
I’ve been watching bunker & other on course repairs going on for a LONG time here. I’m not sure why it would take this long to complete bunker & drainage projects. It reminds me of driving on I-45, it’s always under construction or repair. Hopefully it will be worth it when finished. The Pro Shop worker was friendly, unlike the younger guy that’s usually there. Pace was slow, no Marshall or drink person seen. Greens were fair.
Not bad for the money
Really liked the design. Conditions were playable but not what I would call good. Fairways were mostly weeds not cut very short. The groom's were slow smooth with very small spots of some kind of weed. The ball rolled ok with an occasional bump. Staff was very friendly and actually got me off a little sooner than my scheduled time. Had fun.

Always enjoy Stonebridge but very anxious for them to finish repairing bunkers. Especially considering the amount of bunkers they have and their locations directly in front of many greens.
Course needs work and a Marshall on course
The course is in below average shape at best. No sand in any sand traps, just large dirt areas, some with the drain pipes in play. Many areas around greens that should be ground under repair.
No Marshall on course was seen. Played as a three some and waited on every hole as the group of two in front of us shanked every shot into the woods then hit at least one more shot each on every hole, then spent time driving around in the woods looking for the lost balls.
At one point got to watch a family of four appear from nowhere and let a young child practice his golf game, clearly under the illusion it is their private course.
Beautiful conditions despite recent rains.
We were 90 degrees from the cart path which made very good. Beverage carts staff readily available.
All conditions were go. Great Deal.
Nice time.
Nice course. Nice staff. Still working on bunkers for another month give or take.
Wish they had Houston beer here as there are over 20 breweries now. 19th hole is my only real complaint.
Aerating
Lots of work going into making this a great course. New sign mark and describes each hole. They were aerating all the holes on this day so I look forward to another round after the grounds have taken sto this preparation.
Under construction
This course has very tight fairways. All of the bunkers are being repaired. The gentleman at the pro shop was very pleasant and said that they are rebuilding after it looking dilapidated from the previous owners. It was not really expensive to play but the overall conditions were just very poor.
Some Warts, but good bones
While the course was under drastic levels of repair, every bunker and many of the fairways and tee boxes, you can tell the bones are there for a nice little course.
The fairways were decent, and we enjoyed the layout. Greens are deceptively speedy, despite the typical spring time patchiness. Many of the teeboxes were rock solid, but had been aerated so I would expect them to soften up.
Will definitely visit again.
Nice little course, especially for the value and the friendly staff.
Course in rough condition
1st time playing this course and was weary about it after reading recent reviews. Decided to give it a try. Not the worse course ive played, but i won't be going back. Every bunker was under repair. Greens were in bad shape as well. Many patchy spots which caused the ball to not roll true. Fairways were uncut despite no significant rain for weeks. And most fairways had mounds of dirt in spots due to bunker repairs.
Nice course for the drive.
A course with good value. Some construction going on. Bunkers are being redone. Greens are growing in, rolling true. Fairways are thin. Staff is very friendly. A course to recommend. I've played since opening, love the track. Will use every club in your bag.
Stonebridge 3/17/18
Bunkers are all still under repair. This course to me has too many bunkers and now it looks like they are enlarging several. Greens are in tough shape and very bumpy.
Good value for the money.
We always enjoy playing at Newport. We were a little disappointed this time with the tee box because they were aerating the ground and it was hard to get a solid footing because of the dirt pellets. Also the greens had too much pine needles and other debris. We still enjoy our round. We will be back.
Excellent course for the price
The course was in great shape. New drainage work on the bunkers is a nice improvement on an already great experience. I would recommend this course to my friends!
Worth the drive
I play here when visiting in-laws and I've seen continued work and improvements to course and club. Greens are receptive and rolled very well. Play was a little under 4 hours with several foursomes around us. I was paired with 3 others. This is a cool layout where nature defines the doglegs. Fairways are ok but not great. But overall, this is worth playing.
Nice course, could be better
The bunkers have been ‘under repair’ for a LONG time. The greens need attention too. It seems like more work has been done on the cart drive to the parking lot than on the course itself. I did see new grass being laid around bunkers, but no new signs of bunker repair. The drink girl was very visible & friendly, but never saw the Marshal. Prices should drop until the course is improved. I do like playing here & hope conditions improve.
Stonebridge
Played this course many times on Golf Now and always a good rate. This time the rate was high and a few hours after I booked, it dropped to $12 for 18/cart. I called Golf Now but they would not adjust price. They said I needed to be "VIP" member for adjustments. Turned out also that course had several water damage from hurricane Harvey and grounds crew were working on several holes so not worth $24. More disappointed in Golf Now's policies than the course itself.
No Houston beer!
Nice course. Nice condition overall. Greens were very nice. Still working on traps, maybe a month or two to go. Staff was great! They need to upgrade their beer list now that there are over 20 breweries in Houston!
One of my favorites
They are almost done with the sand work, but overall the coarse is in great shape. Was really wet when I was playing, only making it more challenging to keep from walking so far. Ha
Hi, Tom. Thanks for another great review. We always enjoy seeing loyal golfers returning to our course. We hope the course will be less wet on your next visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
