Nansemond River Golf Club

Beautiful views of the Nansemond River and wetlands on almost every hole. Greens were excellent!

Plenty of challenge but very fair.
Very few holes lined by houses.
Mostly surrounded by the river and wetlands.
The course was in outstanding condition.

I expected a slow round, playing on a Saturday morning with friends from out of town, but had no problem with completing 18 holes in just over 4hrs. The course was lush and green partly due to a lot of rain in the area. In fact several bunkers were holing water due to rain the night before. The greens were well maintained and rolled true, fairways were good to ok and the rough was a mixture of weeds and Bermuda. Overall it was a good time for a fair price.

Nansemond looked great. Course in great condition. A real pleasure to play!

STARTS EASY AND SLOWLY CHANGES AS YOU NEAR THE RIVER.NUMBER 17 IS INTERESTING,ISLAND GREEN.

Greens were very good, fairways were aerated on back nine. Rough is very rough. Bunkers were wet and needing attention.

This golf course had pretty good greens. Like many public courses people don't always fix pitch marks. The greens rolled well but a little slow. The fairways and rough neeed attention. Some type of rusty grass growing throughout, which may be normal for this part of the country, but souldn't be on a golf course. The layout was fair and not tricked up. Tees were available for all handicaps. If some chemicals were used on this course I would return.

First time and it was very nice. Course knowledge goes a long way. When the wind blows the challenge increases.

Everything was well done, including "golf now" staff, as I had to make a change. Course was in super condition and pro shop staff was customer focused. Many thanks.

Course is a very nice balance of challenging shots and greens that roll well. Views are welcomed distraction after a misplaced shot. Layout is engaging with dog legs both directions and greens ranging from wide open to tucked back into the water.

Great course and worth going back again. Offers some risk reward options. Prime location.

Tight fairways and small greens made for a challenging course but fair!

Recently aerated so the greens were bumpy. Overall, the rest of the course was in pretty good condition. Some interesting holes that require you to be pretty precise.

Fun course to play with a nice view. Will play again!

First time playing here at Nansemond River. A lot of practice facilities. full driving range, putting green, chipping green...
The course was in great conditions. A few water-filled bunkers I found my way into. But, It had rained recently. I loved my time here and look forward to trying it again.

Was worth the drive from Virginia Beach west thru Norfolk/Portsmouth traffic, especially after snagging cheap greens fees/cart ($16) on GolfNow.com. The finishing holes 16, 17, and 18 are a very nice finish: a short but tough par3, a short par4 but the approach to an island green is daunting, and the split fairway and tight green on the par5 18th offers a few different options coming in. The wind off the Nansemond River was constant and affected almost every shot on the back nine.

With the wind off the river this course is always hard. The greens were in great shape.

It's a nice course that is in very good shape for this time of the year in this area.
