Royal Manchester Golf Links
About
Situated along the shores of the Susquehanna River, Royal Manchester Golf Club is tucked away in the rolling hills of northern York County. The course is just a few miles outside Harrisburg but the traditional links design will transport you to the seaside courses of the British Isles. Like the Old Course at St. Andrews and Royal Latham, which served as the inspiration, the golf course has an open, windswept landscape with only two bodies of water. The 15th, the longest par 3 on the course, is the only hole set among the few trees that dot the landscape. The most formidable challenge comes from the prevailing winds as well as the strategically placed bunkers. Royal Manchester Golf Club finishes with a memorable view of its signature waterfall that cascades down into a sparkling pond.

Great Course Great Price
Very nice course for a very affordable price! Needs a tee box between the whites (6300yds) and blues 6900yds
Greens need aireation.
Greens very hard. But excellent condition. Speed not excessively fast. , but don't get in situations with downhill putts. Fairways gorgeous and generous. Not a long course. Also not a course for risk-taking off tees. Hitting at the 150 markers works well. One exception was No. 14, where you want to keep well right of the marker because typography of hole takes balls hard left once they start bouncing and rolling. Definitely wear hat and sun protection. There is no shade on this true links course.
Great course for the money
Happened to get paired with one of the teaching pros. Between him and the course layout and upkeep it was a very enjoyable round. The course rewards accurate drives and good putting.
Interesting golf layout.
Even though it was not my first time to play, it had been a year & a half, it brought back fond memorries of past rounds. First time playing, I had birdies on
6 & 13 so naturally I fell in love with the track. It is a
course that you must think your way around & definately keep it in the middle if possible. I found the sand traps to be unforgiving due to the hard surface underneath & difficult to get under the ball.
Cost me several strokes in scoring. All told, it was
a very nice experience.
Best Course in Area
Royal Manchester is a fantastic golf course!
Be careful of the fast putting greens, yet putt very smooth and fair. The greens can be difficult to hold as they as hard.
The fairways are cut very short and are excellent. If you're not real familiar with the course it may be difficult to know where to hit the ball on dog legs and other blind shots.
Like all links course don't hit offline line or you will find very thick rough. The sand traps are the best I've played.
The two water holes are number 9 (par 5) and 18(par 4). Number 18 is a great finishing holes for aesthetics.
There are many water stops on the course for those who like to stay hydrated.
Did see a wild turkey(by himself for some reason)) on the course (number 17).
I'd come back here at any time.
royal manchester
Awesome track great greens tryeand fast. Be nice if folks could fix their ball marks
Outstanding Links course
This was my first experience with Royal Manchester and I was amazed at the quality of the course and the condition and speed of the green. I did not have a tee time, but arrived and they paired me up right away. The driving range was excellent as was the practice putting greens. I live near the Poconos and am visiting the area with my wife at the Quilting expo in Hershey, but would drive here to play this course again with friends. If you are in the Hershey area...THIS IS A MUST PLAY!
Excellent greens
Course was in excellent condition, must drive the ball in the fairway!
Welcome Difference
Links-style course is a welcome change of pace on local scene. Good variety of holes, though generally short and plays primarily to the right. Many blind shots so need FREE course maps and better signage. Electric cart ran out of power on the back nine.
Great course
Great course, beautiful and in great shape. Staff attentive and friendly, one of my favorite courses in the area now.
A Taste of the Isles in York, PA
This is one of the best public courses I have played in quite some time. Conditions were excellent at all points - tees, fairways, greens. Greens are fast, just the way they should be. This is a great value for afternoon play. We were in York on business on July 9 and came a day early to try it out. We were so impressed that as soon as business was done on the 9th, we booked another tee time. You need to go to a private country club to beat a course like this.
Great course/ horrible pace of play
great course but at 8:00 AM Monfay morning I would have thought I was playing at 12:00 noon on a Saturday. Slowest round I played all year, which ruined my course experience.
Unbelievable course will be back now I know what lies ahead
Very tough course greens we're prefect fast and very challenging pin placement. Wouldn't change a thing. Will be back to take on the challenge again and now I know where to hit and go over mounds.
Links style, very fast greens, interesting layout, not very long
I played Royal Manchester on a hot dry day. There hadn't been much rain, and the course was very fast overall. The greens were the best I have played in many years and putted/chipped quite true. I like them fast, and was able to make some putts. You need to putt well here as the greens are also large. All irons ran out so you should run them up whenever possible, and the course has few false fronts - most had a flat apron where you could land approaches. The course is also pretty short, at least from the whites. Even hitting mostly three woods in, I was still hitting no more than 8 irons to the par fours. All the 5's were reachable, although there was a lot of risk/reward associated with going for them and I mostly layed up. Shotmakers course with large and very firm greens. Very enjoyable staff met me at my car, and was overall quite organized. BBQ grill going outside at the turn. Great day of golf!
I'am impressed
Live in Baltimore . Well worth the trip. Greens make the course. Very true and fast.
Royally fast
Great course, but the greens were super fast. The course wasn't too long, but it challenged you with tight fairways and high fescue.
Fantastic!!!
This course is first-class the people are very professional and very friendly the course conditions are excellent I think this might be the best course in York Co.
Challenge on a speedy green
The course and fescue are great and a challenge, the greens are so hard that landing short of the green and rolling on was the only way to have a birdie put
Royal Manchester
The course in great shape as usual. The greens were ridicuously fast. Great course , great value
Fast Greens
Royal Manchester was a very different/interesting course, which I sought-out because I wanted to see something new/different. Definitely not a tree-lined traditional course. Only blemishes in the "look" were the smoke-spewing industrial towers (not presented in any on-line pictures) in the background, including a view of Three Mile Island. I wish I had played better -- I struggled with my own game rather than the course -- because I think the course could have been "had" with a good round. Followed the advice to play "up" a set of tees since it was my first time. Good sight lines off the tees marked by "barber poles" even on "blind holes". Greens were the course's main defense; freshly cut AND rolled. Fairways felt "hard" and seem still to be growing in. Bunkers ... eh, still need some work as they're light on sand and have "wrapping" peeking through at points. The course had not been watered the night before so the irrigation was on during a number of holes I played -- but that was because the friendly staff had asked me if I'd mind (which I did not). Staff was friendly and wanted to know what I thought of the course. I'd definitely return, and hope that I have my game in order to take advantage of a fun layout. I did not use either the driving range or short game area, but both looked up to Raspberry Trail standards. I did not use the food/beverage service inside.
