Royal Manchester Golf Links
About
Situated along the shores of the Susquehanna River, Royal Manchester Golf Club is tucked away in the rolling hills of northern York County. The course is just a few miles outside Harrisburg but the traditional links design will transport you to the seaside courses of the British Isles. Like the Old Course at St. Andrews and Royal Latham, which served as the inspiration, the golf course has an open, windswept landscape with only two bodies of water. The 15th, the longest par 3 on the course, is the only hole set among the few trees that dot the landscape. The most formidable challenge comes from the prevailing winds as well as the strategically placed bunkers. Royal Manchester Golf Club finishes with a memorable view of its signature waterfall that cascades down into a sparkling pond.

Great course
Great staff,1 of top 3 in area. Great condition, solid range and practice area
Challenging course, not for a beginner
This was my second outing at RM and it's a great course, especially for a medium skill level player. There is a premium on accuracy with tall fescue lining the majority of fairways as you would expect on a links style course. If you are a beginner with a wicked slice or hook, you may want to try another course until you figure out your swing a little more. Pro shop staff seems to be a little hit-or-miss but the bar staff has been very friendly both times. The only improvement that could be made is a ranger ensuring pace of play. My foursome was stuck behind at least two foursomes of middle aged to older gentleman who seemed to be comprised of both poor and slow players. Our round took about 5 hours and we had to wait between every single shot from about the 4th hole forward.
One of the best courses I have ever played
We had an hour wait due to frost on the course. The staff was very informative telling us updates whenever possible. It also shows they care about the course and it certainly shows. Fairways, tee boxes, and greens were near perfect condition and the sand was very playable as well. No complaints here and we can not wait to come play again! Thank you!
conditions were not optimal, but the experience was still terrific
Though it was a cloudy and very windy afternoon, I enjoyed playing this course. With the weather being out of the hands of course management, the only other hinderance to a great experience is that the greens were recently aerated, which I understand needs to happen from time to time. The entire staff was very friendly and courteous. From the tee box to the green, nothing was to be desired as far as mainantence is concerned. I will definately play this course again. Nicely done Roya Manch
Excellent value, quality amenities, personnel, course layout and maintenance.
Young course continuing to mature. The ongoing course improvements are noticeable and appreciated. Challenging layout, but at this time of season fair for all playing abilities. The few forced carries are reasonable distances for most players. Quality of greens, tee boxes, and bunkers are better than average for the area at this price point, fairways however, even considering it is early in season are average. As with many links style courses the course plays fair early and late in season as fescue waste areas are considerably thinned out leaving players the hope of a found ball. Once these areas are fully grown course is overly penal as shots finding these areas are almost always lost balls. Course should consider less aggressive seeding in these areas. Overall one of top 10 best values in York, Dauphin, Cumberland and Adams counties (especially through GolfNow.)
Great Course
Greens were still aerated but other than being slow they were great.
Great deal, great day!
Royal Manchester lived up to it's reputation as a top-class facility. It was a beautiful 72 degree day and the course was in great condition despite recent aeration. The greens were sanded and rolled to the point only speed was affected (by the sand). Putts rolled true and the rest of the course was immaculate. Great links course with mounds, bunkers galore and numerous blind shots made for a fun and challenging day. Probably wouldn't want to play in midsummer heat, however, as shade is at a premium. Overall, loved the course!
Course is very nice, the staff can make or break your trip
The reservation included cart. When paying, I was asked for an additional cart fee. When questioned I was given an abrupt "No. It's not included."
Would have pushed this farther but the "manager" on duty was busy with his legs kicked up, on the telephone, complaining to whomever was on the other end that "these price discounts need to stop."
The course was fine, even with all the work being done on the course.
Based solely on the one employee, doubt we will book again anytime soon.
A very nice links coarse
I didn't find the lay out to be tremendously difficult. What made the course a challenge was the wind. The coarse sits on top of a hill, so i think it will always be windy...on some holes, literally a three club wind directly in your face. The only real downside for me was the length of the round...the rough gets very thick and the groups ahead of me spent way too much time searching for their balls...the fairways are fairly wide, but if you spray your tee shots, this is probably not the course for you.
A really nice Links course.
I cant wait to play this course in better weather. it will be alot tougher when the grass comes in. Overall a nice Links experience.
Great people, great staff
I arrived early for some Spring golf and was greeted by friendly dining room staff where I ate lunch. Pro shop staff were equally friendly. Driving range was mats only but they were the good variety. The course was in superb early Spring conditions and pace of play was good on the front 9 but a little slow on the inward 9. I would highly recommend this facility. Good food, good people and good golf; can't wait to play it in season.
As close to Irish golf in our area, OUTSTANDING
If I lived closer, I would play here every week. Excellent layout, super condition, fantastic clubhouse and the practice facility is 2nd to none. This course is the best we have, better than some private clubs. Highly recommended
THIS COURSE IS ALWAYS IN GREAT SHAPE.
The greens are in great shape for the lousy weather so far this year. Pace of play was great, 4hrs for a foursome. Only draw back was cart path only, would have played in 3hrs if this wasn't the case.
Royal Manchester shows it's teeth!!!!
On a cold and windy March afternoon this course was a real brute! But the price was just too good to pass up. I will definitely be going back in the future to hopefully play better.
Links style course, nice layout, don't stray too far from the fairway.
For March, this couse was in very good condition. The staff was courteous, helpful, and professional. I will definitely play this course again. Good times, good times!
Course is in great shape so early in the season
A challenging course from the tips, avoid the rough at all costs
Excellent link type golf course in an inland setting.
Challenging and techical golf course along with an excellent practice area.
This is a must play
First time back this year. Once again impressed by the staff, the conditions and the facility. Greens fast and true, fairways in excellent condition.
Nice course and facilities.
Course is well maintained, golf carts were very clean and pre-loaded with Course Tee's (free). One of the only courses I know that still does this.
One of the best local courses
I've played this course twice now. Both white and blue tees. This course is one of the best in central PA. Greens are quick but receptive. Second round was mid Nov. and the course was still in great shape. The grounds crew were still mowing fairly tight fairways and greens.
