This a great course. I love the design. It is set up such a manner that high and low handicap can enjoy the course. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. This is a great public course that all the amenities of a private country club and more.

This course has potential to be really nice. The course layout is actually amazing and the views are really nice. However, the condition of the course was sub par. I know it is winter but if you’re gonna charge $75 a round the conditions need to be better. The tee boxes are fine. Lots of poa annua all over the fairways and the grass is super long. The greens were not terrible but not great. Rolled true but many burnt spots as well as sandy pots all over some greens. Probably won’t be back.

Mattaponi Springs Golf Club is natures beauty in Caroline County Va. This public course offers that Country Club feel with a challenging design, well manicured from tee to green, very nice range and practice area, very nice Club House and extremely friendly staff. If you love golf and all the challenges it can offer then this course is a must play for you

My favorite course within 50 miles. Love the layout, variability in distance (par-3’s range from 115 to 235 from the blues, and par-4’s are drivable or long-iron-in), and the fairways and greens are immaculate.

The staff is super friendly and the new GM takes care of business. The clubhouse is country club level, with food to match. They’re also having a new state-of-the-art simulator built in the clubhouse for the 2025 season.

It is likely a bit of a drive for most people, but absolutely worth it! I play out there as often as I can.

The course is always a delight to play.

Well designed, lots of terrian change, in a absolutely fantastic setting. Staff is always friendly and willing to help.

Just absolutely a awesome course that is great playing

I recently had the pleasure of playing at Mattaponi, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, making check-in and warm-up a breeze.

The course conditions were immaculate—lush fairways, pristine greens rolling true, and well-maintained bunkers. The layout offers a great mix of challenge and playability, catering to all skill levels. Every hole had a unique character, with breathtaking views that added to the overall enjoyment.

The facilities were top-notch, from the well-stocked pro shop to the modern clubhouse with excellent dining options. The practice area was also fantastic, featuring a spacious driving range and well-kept putting greens.

Overall, Mattaponi exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a weekend warrior, this course is a must-play. I can’t wait to return!

Mattaponi Springs is an awesome course. The zoysia fairways are fantastic and the greens role true. Tee box positions (red, gold, white, blue, black), allow for golf enjoyment for golfers of all skill levels. Recently upgraded to gas carts from battery carts. The newly redesigned clubhouse/grill has enough space for relaxation after a tough round or just to chill out, and the staff is top-notch. I understand they're installing a simulator soon. The Club is conveniently located between the Richmond and Fredericksburg areas.

I have not played a better course. Excellent condition and the staff provide c.great customer service.

This course is fun and challenging at the same time. Lots of elevation changes and shot placement opportunities mean accuracy counts. Rough is fair but best to stay out. Attention to course conditions is evident. Driving range and balls are included with greens fees. Full service kitchen and bar add to the day.

PURE GOLF is what they say at Mattaponi, and it's PURE GOLD!!

This course is phenomenal! Even though the undulating zoysia fairways are dormant, they still play like it's a roller coaster in spring. They moved their beautiful new gas carts to the parking lot now, so all I have to do is park, load up, and head to the bar to check in. How easy is that!! And what a bar... they've completely remodeled the bar, and it looks quite nice. The staff there is over the top helpful and always accommodating. What a great experience from beginning to end!

This course is absolutely amazing and challenging for me. Never disappoint how a course should be maintained.

Cart path only bad but understandable. Putting green closed, not sure why. Fairways a bit wet but playable with a decent base of dormant Bermuda grass. Bunkers in good condition. Greens were running ok but whomever cut the holes needs much better training. Almost every hole was popped up around the hole. Certainly make the effective size much smaller when R to L putts turn right at the hole or vice versa. It was pretty obvious the holes were not flattened. Shows a lack of caring. An abundance of blind holes as well as wetland areas that are reachable. There are plaques on the tee boxes with distance but vague where they are measured from. A course map on the card or cart would help and setting up flags right and left at the hazards that can be hit with a range finder would be an inexpensive fix as there was sometimes a big difference in the distance. It is a great course with lots of blind shots and elevation changes but without course knowledge or info, it makes it a slower round and a guess fest.
