The Lamberts Point Golf Course
About
Lambert's Point Golf Club in Norfolk sits along the banks of the Elizabeth River, offering scenic river views from every one of its nine holes. The course is located on Old Dominion University's campus, doubling as the training facility for the school's golf team. The layout has a traditional links-style design that will challenge even low handicappers. It has all the challenges of a full-length golf course with dramatically rolling terrain that causes tricky uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. It's a very tight course, which means that shot placement will be an important factor on every hole. While you may not need a driver, accuracy is a necessity. Even slightly errant shots will be severely penalized. Before tackling Lambert's Point golf course, you can use the impressive double-story, covered driving range for warming up.

Great course with greater views. Really nice for being on the water. It’s a shooters course for sure. Gotta be creative with your shot selection but overall fun and quick course to play on.
Challenging and completely unforgiving
Great place to play. No it’s not the nicest course of all times but you get what you pay for. The course has a very relaxing and laid back vibe to keep players feeling comfortable no matter their player experience or abilities. With that said this is a very narrow and unforgiving course so I do not recommend this to first time golfers. Not that they wouldn’t be welcome it just might be discouraging because of the layout. The slightest hit off the fairway will cause you to loose your ball in water, thick brush, or rolling down hills for an unbelievable distance. The biggest negative to me was the rocks in the sand traps. Because of the short length and only being 9holes this would be a great lunch break course. This is a quickie and a goodie. This place does have times allotted for league play so check on that before reserving tee times.
Pleasantly Surprised
We were very pleasantly surprised when we played here. From the back tees this is a legit golf course. Especially if the wind is blowing. The conditions were a little spotty which should be expected for the price. But overall we were very pleased. Has a decent short game practice area, a full range (mats only). We will definitely go back.
Hit it straight or pay the price on every single hole!
Very challenging course! Not for beginners. Very fun though. Probably not going to play golf here again. I am just not good enough!
Fun Track
Such a fun and challenging course that features beautiful views from nearly every hole. First time here and I will be back.
Blind shots
Nice course to get a work out if you walk. A lot of blind shots make it challenge to hit straight tee shots. Nice view of the river regatta, collier, and sewage plant.
New Features Revealed Every Time
I played the course this past Friday for the 5th or 6th time. As I was walking up the 3rd fairway, I looked over at the 6th fairway and saw a perfect landing area for a better approach to the 6th green. It's always a mark of a good course that the features are revealed over time rather than just being perfectly apparent on one play. As always, great variety in the holes and the conditions are improving. Hopefully they'll put some more money into the course, it could be stellar.
Conditions Improving
The greens are much healthier now than at the end of the summer since the temps have dropped. Still very soft, but much smoother and faster than before. Great value for the money.
Solid Layout
I really enjoy the layout. The site is a difficult one, but the holes have great variety. Very cool uphill, skyline par 5 to open the round and some very good holes after that. The conditions were tough. Hard to evaluate the greens since it had rained so much the previous few days. They were as soft as I'd expect. Had some weeds in the greens, that's tough. Also some bare spots in the fairways without grass. Difficult to give that a pass. I'd play it again, but the conditions suffer. Not sure why.
Great course to avoid
They carved a course of of an industrial dump. Great views of the river but that about the last positive thing I can say, This is a gimmicky 9 hole course in an industrial setting surrounded by coal piers , cranes and heavy industry.I'm not sure where they got the top soil to built this thing but we say blue/green (apparently toxic) waste water seeping out of the hillsides. No sand in any of the bunkers just mud and rocks. ,The layout is an perfect invitation to get bonked by golf balls from adjacent fairways. We constantly say balls in our fairway particularly on holes one and nine. Wear a hard hat and body armor. The is a squirrely mix of tight fairways blind shots and crazy dog legs. The only things this place needs is a windmills and clown head. My cart died on hole #03 I called the clubhouse to let them know and they said they would sent a replacement cart out. Well no such luck, we ended up manually pushing the dang thing up hills and with the 2nd cart all the way back to the clubhouse two hours later. There was a 6 inch deep hole right off the cart path on number 4, which I stepped in twisting my ankle, tweaking my back and tumbling down a hill put soiling my new golf slacks.
I experimented with taking my group to this facility because of a hot deal on Golf Now it was cheap, , other than the price I can't find anything positive to review. this is city golf, a contradiction in terms by nature. Spend the money and go to a real course.
Tough course until you play a few times
Bang for the buck, you can,t beat it. On a hill, so usually dry when others are wet.
Nice practice
This is a nice 9 hole course to get in some practice. Doesn't play very long and has some beautiful sites. Placement of shots is key to a good round.
great outing
this course is very challenging for the average golfer however it will make you think about when to drive and when to lay up. great course for the value.
Sneaky Tough
This is a tough 9 holes to play, but a great course. Very challenging. Would reccomend playing 18 since there are many blind tee shots. The day I played had major wind to deal with also so it was a double challenge! Worth the deal! Will play again next visit to VA Beach
9-Hole Gem on Norfolk Waerside
Very well kept course on backside of ODU campus. Great Practice facilities - sandtrap, chipping area, putting green & range. Course is moderately challenging with sharp doglegs requiring well placed approach shots. Very enjoyable but a little hard to judge distances with winds of the water.
Challenging
great course, nice views and one of the few courses in area that has hills.
Lamberts 18 holes for 10$!
Picked up a midday tee time for ten bucks. That almost says it all, you can't beat that deal for 18 holes. This was probably my seventh or eighth time playing at Lamberts. The young lady in the pro shop was very friendly as well as the staff around the place. The greens were holding quite well that day, you could definitely shoot aggressive and stop the ball. I just wish they would spruce up the upper deck of the driving range. It's the only place around the area that I know of that has a two tier range.
Lambert's Point
This is a small and very challenging course. This has lots of surpirses. Careful club selection is imperative. It would really help to have soemone experienced with this course the first time you play.
