Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club sits along the Eastern Shore, sprawling across a scenic landscape of coastal dunes and grassy hollows. There are 27 championship holes at the club that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The nines, Grizzly, Kodiak, and Black Bear, are all different though they share many of the same features including winding fairways lined with native wetland grasses and oversized greens flanked by strategically placed traps. The Kodiak/Black Bear combination follows the natural contours of the coastal terrain, fully utilizing the ample sand dunes that cover the landscape. There is also plenty of water that comes into play throughout. All three golf courses at Bear Trap Dunes are challenging but they are fair and player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels.

Breezy but beautiful

My wife and I decided we wanted to play golf on Sunday morning so I checked tee times on GolfNow.com. We got a great deal for early afternoon. The course was in good shape with fast greens. We played in under 3.5 hours. The wind was blowing, but it was a wonderful sunny day we couldn't pass up.

Loved the course. Will play again.

Great 27 holes. Well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. Off the tee and from the fairway not a difficult course. The fun begins around the greens which were fast and had a lot of break.

Will not return - not a good value.

I played this course in early Sept. of 2013 for the first time. I had just played two other golf courses in the area prior to playing Bear Trap (plyed Baywood and Bay Side). The course was not even close to being in the same kind of condition as the other two courses or other courses that I played during the week. The greens were spiked up and there were "dirt patches" on certain parts of hte fairway.

My biggest compliant though would be that of the staff - in particular the guys that get your clubs and set you up with a cart. They were very rude and not pleasant at all. When we returned our cart after finishing we were actually yelled at for not parking it in the proper place (there are no signs to tell you were to park). No way will I return or would recommend this course to anyone.

Only played nine holes on Grizzly course

Not a lot of difficulties here, minimal water and other hazards, fair bunkers, reasonable fairways/rough, challenging greens. Overall worth a visit, will do again

Aerated Greens allowed us to afford to play the course!

Bear Trap is too expensive and more than we are willing to pay to golf. We were fortunate to get such a great value this time because the greens had been aerated. Love the course. Wish it wasn't so pricey and we would play it all the time. Beach house is 2 minutes from the course and we drive to Ocean City to play all the time for more affordable courses.

27 Holes of Fun

I enjoy these courses. I am a 13 handicapper. Some narrow fairways, some wide open fairways. The greens had been aerated so I can't really comment but they looked good. Nice views all around and the people were friendly.

Another day at the Dunes.

The course is always in good shape but the course doesn't grab me like some of the nicer ones in the area. I would not ever pay full price for this course like I would other courses, and this outing was a 1:40 tee time for $40.00 which was the reason we played it. I have been a part of group outings here when the staff and company were not friendly.

Great facility, well run. Lot's of staff and very helpful - Troon Golf does a great job.

Played the Blue Tees on Wednesday the 21st and had a great time. Generous fairways, straight forward layout and large greens make this a perfect tourist course, it won't beat you up.
The GolfNow price of $70 was about right - I might have a hard time paying $110 very frequently.

Great course, challenging features but playable for a mid to high handicap.

Very nice conditions with the greens rolling true. Pins were placed in positions where the holes were score-able but also tough in some situations. It is also nice having 27 holes to play from.

most accomidating in ocean city

we've been coming to bethany for several and the people in the pro shop have always been the friendliest and most accommodating. this year we got delayed and ended up being an hour late for our tee time. when i called they were very cordial and when we arrived were able to get out without problems.

Driving range closed at 6:45 am

Need to cut grass on driving range when the demand for it is not in high usage. Communication needs to be better between staff and management. Had heavy rain on 3rd hole did not find out cart path only until 8th hole.

Played Grizzly-->Kodiak. Course was very fair, with ample room off the tee. Know your yardages to the flags, the greens are tricky with subtle breaks

Booked through GolfNow for a super rate. Loved the course and would have given it 5 stars if it was not for the staff being a little "less than talkative" to the non members. Although the starter, Buck, was very nice and welcoming.

Great overall experience

The staff is courteous and efficientl, we teed off right on time, and the course was in excellent condition, with one glaring exception: the bunkers had been made practically unplayable by a couple of recent storms. Apparently the bunkers lack effective irrigation, suggesting a major winter project is indicated. I have played this course many times and they seem to be improving somewhat on another problem they have had: managing the flow of groups around the three nine hole courses to prevent backups at the turn. Yesterday, we were able to tee off on our tenth hole with no wait. In the past, we have always had to wait, as additional groups had been sent off ahead of us. But overall, this golf course is a pleasure to play. It is both scenic and sporty. Players are tempted to cut watery corners on dog legs and try to reach the par 5s in two. There are plenty of risk/reward options, making the course equally playable for average and better players alike. My wife loves to play it, as it is one of the most female friendly courses in the region.
