Ocean Pines Golf Club

This is a nice course but there are little to no yardage markers. We had a Marshall drive past us and I thought they were going to ask us to pick up the pace. He only wanted feedback on the course, and we suggested “simple yardage markers Red (100 yds), White (150 yds), Blue (200 yds)”. The Marshall acknowledged there were only “red brick markers on the back 9 holes indicating 200 yds”. We were left scratching our heads - that made no sense. I noticed how many sprinkler heads were marked for numerical identification - take the obvious next step and add the yardage to the center of the green. With no GPS on the cart, please make this small change. It would help the pace of play as well.

Course was in good shape except for a couple

chewed up fairways and tee boxes. But otherwise good. Stay out of the rough! Very thick, lush and hard to get out of. Staff was friendly and we had a good 19th hole in their clubhouse.

There were literally hundreds of huge swarming ground dwelling hornets on several greens. We had to walk of the greens and left a ball or two in the bunkers. Paid for18 but after 9 we were done. The person in the pro shop offered a rain check for 9 but were from out of state. I had to complain further to get her to grab her boss to authorize a nine hole refund. Tough course though with nice water features.

The course was in good shape on a hot day. The greens were slow but in very good condition. It was a very HOT day and they did not provide water at any of the holes for drinking or staying cool. They had a bathroom on the course with a water fountain outside, but the fountain for water was turned off.

Starter was a jerk from the second we got out of the car. Acted annoyed that we arrived 45 minutes early and didn’t know where to go as it was our first time. Weeds growing in the greens, horrible tee boxes, and too many bare patches. Don’t waste your time

Course layout is very nice and clubhouse nice. Otherwsie, golf conditions are very very disappointing. Lots of bad fairways (supposedly from drought/heavy rain) and even some temporary tee boxes, but truthfully, many tee-boxes and gateways needed major help. On top of it, knowing these conditions, they still charge full price of $110!

That’s why I call this place a money grab.

I played Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club the day before for $10 more and conditions were 5,10x better!

Sorry, but I hate when courses treat guests unfairly!

Not a good experience at all. The starter was rude and overbearing (barking and whistling at us), and the driving range and putting green were sub-par. The course was in terrible condition. Many of the tee boxes had barely any grass on them, and the grass that was there was shaggy and unkempt. A lot of the fairways were barren, and the greens weren’t much better. The online photos were incredible, and Robert Trent Jones Sr. is a masterful designer. This course looked nothing like the photos, and I suspect RTJ Sr. would be rolling over in his grave if he saw it in its current state.
