Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech

This place was great.

The wind off of the river was challenging, but fair.

I will definitely play again when I am in the area.

Played with 2 members. Had great time. They told were to hit it on every hole . Saved me 5 stokes at lease

The river sold me on the course. With that being said it is scenic and well worth it but some holes are tight because you have a river then the golf course then mountain side. Greens are on shelves and relatively small compared to the rest of the course. Have to bring your A game for this course and expect to lose balls

Fun Day of golf! Course was in pretty good shape for winter time. Greens were smaller than expected, especially for the length of the course. Most greens were very narrow and firm. Thought greens, tees and fairways would be over seeded for winter but most areas were dormant Bermuda. Course still played well, just not as scenic. Parking was inconvenient because shuttle service wasn’t running. Pete should have used More square footage on parking and greens, and less on the 5 tee long tee boxes. Fun to play though. Would definitely try again!

This course was a gem!! Even in March the greens were outstanding. Grass was dormant but didn't affect the playability at all. Marvelous experience & I can't wait to go back to see the place in lush green condition.

The Pete Dye River Course is a fun layout that is worth a play. The clubhouse, which I believe is new within the last 5 years overlooks the New River and is a great spot to hang before or after a round.

The course is in a bit of a valley next to the river with the front 9 on one side of the clubhouse with the river to the right and the back 9 on the other side with the river to the left.

The course has a good variety of holes, but some of them can start to run together towards the middle of the back 9. There isn't a whole lot of elevation change, but the calmness of the river makes up for that. We played on a calm, sunny day, but if the wind picks up, the course can get tough!

In terms of favorite holes, #3 on the front is a long par 5 right along the river and #18 is a brutal par 4 finisher also right along the river.

Compared to some of the other top public courses I have played in Virginia, Pete Dye is very good, but not in the top tier (Primland, Homestead Cascades, Spring Creek, Royal New Kent). Still worth a trip, though!

Great course with amazing views! Played here multiple times... challenging but really fun!

Great scenic golf course with somewhat narrow fairways. Mounds and bunkers along most of the holes can make the course a challenge. The New river is in play on several holes along with other wet areas.

Really nice layout along the New River. Some of the smallest bunkers I’ve seen. Really interesting course.

Excellent course, always in top notch shape when I come to play. Very friendly and polite staff. Pace of play is always very fair.

First time here but it won't be the last. I was headed to DC from NC so we made a stop to play here. It was very windy the day we played so several holes we were hitting directly into 15 mph winds. The first round is always a learning round so we can't wait to come back, which we surely will

Fun day at the River Course near VT. Beautiful holes, great pace of play, and overall excellent golf course. Some very challenging holes, so bring your A game. We will definitely be back.

We are enjoying playing this challenging but great course. Highly recommend playing..
