Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course
About
Eight years before he built Colonial Country Club, John Bredemus came to Fort Worth to build Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course. The city bought the facility years later and brought Ralph Plummer in for renovations in 1962, when the creation of dams formed five new lakes and improved the irrigation system. No. 5 should probably be a par 5 for most hackers -- it plays 475 yards with water on the left of the dogleg, trees are on the right, and the approach must carry a creek. Don't worry about a bogey on this one. The 16th is another long par 4 that features an approach over water to the green. The two best birdie opportunities are nos. 7 and 14, both short par 4s that should leave you with only a short iron into the green.

Enjoy Golf
The golf course is in great shape. Fairway very nice. But they are letting the second cut grow. If your ball roll in it its hard to find, so beware. Green stii healing from when they punch it. I think 1 more week and it wii be perfect staff very nice and helpful.
great greens
although it rained on us 3 times during the round...it was great fun on a fun layout!
Always good
You have to be able to move the ball, plenty of tight shots and there are some risk/rewards holes as well as blind shots. Tee boxes can bee better, more of an even surface, fairways are always in great shape and the greens are even better. No driving range but practice putting green is a great indication of what to expect, layout is fun and you will not get bored, holes are very different. Very little water and the bunkers are more of a target than hazards, they really are irrelevant here. Par 3s are short on average and you will be tempted to go for the green on the par 5s if you're able to catch one off the tee, the 13th being your best shot with the helping stadium-like surroundings. Treat #5, 8, 15 and 16 with respect off the tee as well as the approach, these holes can eat your lunch.
I've never seen a cart girl out there but then again it's a munie, kitchen can use the most improvement but food is not bad.
Overall, I can tell you that I keep coming here because it just feels right, keeps my decision making and mental game sharp.
Good value
Course was nice for a municipal. Challenging, narrow fairways. For the price, I would recommend this course.
Unfriendly Staff
Staff was very unfriendly, disorganized and tried to ask for money then complained how much he hated "GolfNow". Greens are washed out but the course still plays ok.
The course is an old favorite .
Tee boxes were horrible and the sand traps were almost as bad. For last of April, the fairways should be plush and soft , but this is a cIty muni , so they arent going to fertilize , so you get what you pay for. Be prepared to roll the ball around in the fairways for a decent lie . The greens were hippity hoppity , not very good but like i said you get what you pay for . The green fees should be no more than $25-30 tops .
Great value
Love the play here, miss having a range to loosen up on
Course is in Less-than-ideal Condition
I played this course on an April afternoon and the course is currently in poor condition. The fairways, though mostly in good condition, are plagued with bald patches in low spots where standing water may have been present. The greens were very patchy and inconsistent. The greens may mature later in the year once they fill out but right now they are patchy and not putting very true.
Another thing was the pin placement and tee marker locations were obviously not placed by golfers. There were many tee boxes where if you played within the tee markers you'd be standing on uneven ground and in the rough (so I cheated a little bit). Also the pin placement on the par 3 hole 3 was near impossible to score on. The pin was placed about two feet from a false front down a sharp incline meaning even if a putt rolled two feet passed the hole meant the ball went down the hill (which two in my group did).
It's also worth mentioning that the golf course is located near a declining neighborhood in Fort Worth. During our round two kids rode bikes through the golf course. Definitely not something you see during your average round!
However through all of its nuances Meadowbrook offers a fairly decent course layout while still remaining friendly to beginners. Personally I think it'd be a fine course for >$25 but at it's current rates there are better courses in the area to get your money's worth.
Nice little course, perhaps a little more expensive than it should be though
The course was maintained for the most part. The tee boxes and greens were pretty nice, but other than dead center of the fairways, there was some work to be desired. The sand was hard as a rock in most traps, but it had rained recently.
I liked the elevation changes and challenging green sizes. I think the $32 we paid was slightly more expensive than I am willing to shell out again though. I think this would be a deal at around $25 instead.
Not a great course.
Of course, for a city-run course and the price I paid, I have no room to complain. But just to clarify... The greens! The greens were HORRIBLE. I would have rather been putting on someone's driveway. Hard as a rock and covered with sand. So much so that you could see the line from just about any position on the green. But don't get excited, because if you give your putt any more than a whisper behind it, it will surely fly off the other side of the green.
And the carts are gas powered! C'mon man. I don't want to ride around the course on a lawn mower, and I certainly don't want to smell like it when I get home.
Other than that, the course has lots of elevation changes and has undulation that adds a bit of excitement to some of the holes.
My favorite part is how you get a 2"x2" square of a course map so you can see how the holes are laid out, which adds a nice challenge of trying to figure out which flagstick you're shooting at. The indicators at the tee box have some sort of hieroglyphics that don't really help you in any way. More than once I was confidently driving towards the wrong flag.
I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone that doesn't enjoy a good laugh or takes his game seriously in any capacity.
Very interesting old course great price
Really enjoyed the course. I think we would've played better the second time around as it does have some surprises. Love the elevation changes
Meadowbrook early spring
I've seen Meadowbrook in better condition. The greens have a way's to go. They are spotty, with new growth and dormant Bermuda. Putting is not easy right now.
Great course for fun and valuable
I think this course designer is very talented. Every hole has unique features and players should think before hitting balls I really enjoyed playing golf at this course. And will come back with friends. Tony
Challenging holes
Course in descent shape and offers a challenge with lots of hills, water and hazards. Some of the traps unplayable, but looks like under repair. I'd recommend this friendly place for a causal round.
Love this course
The course itself was in great condition and played extremely well. It would really help if they had a Marshall driving the course trying to speed up play since we had a 5-some slowing EVERYONE down.
Good location
Course presents a lot of challenges
Firm greens and several hazards
Lots of elevation changes which makes it fun
Course was in very good shape.
I had not been here is a few years and was not dissatisfied . Staff was courteous and experience will bring me back.
Good pace of play
Lots of hazards and water on this course. Might be tough for inexperienced or beginner golfers.
Course is not terribly long but the frequent shots over water make this course play just as long as a normal course
Good course for a great value
Very friendly establishment. The cost is outstanding for a course in its condition.
It's a treasure hidden in the city!
My First Return in 25 years as we used to walk this course back in the 90's. I was surprised at how much I remembered it! Not your typical flat North Texas layout, with hills and turns to rival some of the east coast best courses. One of if not the best municipal courses Fort Worth has to offer. With the rain we have had this year it's must play now as normally in the middle of July things are hard and brown!
