Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course

About
Eight years before he built Colonial Country Club, John Bredemus came to Fort Worth to build Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course. The city bought the facility years later and brought Ralph Plummer in for renovations in 1962, when the creation of dams formed five new lakes and improved the irrigation system. No. 5 should probably be a par 5 for most hackers -- it plays 475 yards with water on the left of the dogleg, trees are on the right, and the approach must carry a creek. Don't worry about a bogey on this one. The 16th is another long par 4 that features an approach over water to the green. The two best birdie opportunities are nos. 7 and 14, both short par 4s that should leave you with only a short iron into the green.

From a course layout stand point, this old school treat will be a delete to golfers of all skill levels. It is a great walking course, and is always in pretty good shape for it being a big city muni. My last round was a bit annoying as there was seemingly no control over the first tee. The group I was to be paired with left 20 minutes early. I was standing on the first tee five minutes before my tee time with a guy the pro shop paired me with. Three groups of seniors cut in front of us without even looking, asking, or caring when my twosome was suppose to go. We jumped over to the back nine, and ended up just playing nine holes
Good value for money
Some green not in good shape and some fairways are rock hard. Hilly course so a handful of blind shots. Overall the pace of play was excellent for a Sunday morning.
So fun
Loved the course. Great layout—was challenging and fun. Will play again!
Good Local Course
Played this course in all four seasons of the year. Holds up very well in all of them. Fun local course!
A fellow golfer tried to convert me to Christianity
He started off by asking me if I went to church. When I told him no, he asked me if I thought I was going to die. This conversations wasn’t even the most frustrating part of the round. The fairways are so dry and dead. They run out about 30 yards more than they should and hitting off them is hardpan. Would recommend other courses for right now.
Greens where great, fairways where ungodly dry.
Paid 3$ for a 11:50 tee time on a Thursday, so not here to complain. I would never pay over 30$ to play here, until fairways are fixed. It was like hitting on concrete. Course layout was not hard, but you will need a app on phone to navigate. Due to some of this hills. There are many blind par 4 holes after tee shot.
Overall good price on golf now,
Greens where in good condition
Absolutely play if you catch a deal on it.
