The Club at Frisco Farms (formerly known as Plantation Golf Club) was created for the average golfer -- it's a user-friendly course where spectacular play is not required for a decent score. Playing only 6,400 yards from the tips and under 6,000 from the middle tees, the golf course isn't long, and it includes many par 4s that are nearly driveable. Erratic, careless play is punished, however, with out-of-bounds lining the fairways and water coming into play on a few holes. Those short par 4s in particular are all guarded by water. Two of The Club at Frisco Farms par-3 holes -- the 148-yard no. 7 and the 188-yard no. 17 -- each require players to carry water. Pace of play here is better than average because of the player-friendly layout.

Fun layout

We played from the blue tees. The course is not long but it has water hazards that are strategically placed. It was in the high 50s temperature wise when we played. The greens rolled good. It is a fun course to play and some holes will definitely test your skill level. I look forward to playing it again.

Frustrated

Not enough spacing between tee times thus causing major congestion and slow play. No course Marshall driving around to ensure good pace of play.

Better but needs work

I know its not spring yet but course is in just terrible shape! The grass is all very tight, the greens have plugs of crab grass and divots all over and the sand is just ridiculous!!! Its like wet beach volleyball sand or other traps are straight outta the sahara!! Saw very accomplished players that could not escape these poor excuses for golf bunkers. Good news is theres a starter now on the first tee which has improved pace of play and starts. Staff is friendly as ever and its still a course I treasure so I really hope they can come the rest of the way. Also...beware of the courses leagues. Senior and ladies leagues are both incredibly slow so check before you book.

Plantation drains well! Greens were really good.

Fairways had some extremely muddy areas. The only tee box that I never like is the par 3 thirteenth. That sucker is always chewed up and leaves little level area to tee. Most fairways are generous. The greens don't have a lot of slope but they are still sneaky tricky. Very fun course to play for a short striker of the ball...like me.

Nicest day of the week meant that there were a number of people out enjoying the day and the course. The course is in good shape for February. Some of the greens had tuffs of grass but overall it was just great. All the water means that one needs to make accurate shots.

Impressed

First time playing - single player with 2 other first timers - Really enjoyed the round - doesn't hurt that I birdied the first hole! I thought the course conditions were very good - challenging holes, especially some of the par 4's where you really have to think about your tee shot. It is somewhat of a "narrow" course at times with lots of housing... I will definitely come back..

Nice Day

Course was really in good shape for the middle of winter. Greens were very soft and held well. You don't find that this time of year.

Ruined by Residents

Pros:

Layout is decently intricate and challenging

Plays longer than the yardage indicates

Great value

Decent condition even mid winter

Never have had a pace of play issue

Friendly staff

Grass driving range, great chipping/pitching green

Cons:

Greens are a bit spotty and bumpy and completely covered with leaves (again it's Winter)

Pretty tight, be prepared if not accurate off the tee to lose a lot of balls in residents' backyards. I'm a fairly decent golfer, but it is very punishing how narrow the course can be at times, which leads to my next point and why I personally will never play this course on the weekend ever again.

NOISY! (Not the courses fault) I will elaborate here that this is the most disrespectful neighborhood I have ever played in. Every single tee and that's genuinely not exaggerating, EVERY SINGLE TEE, there was excessive noise. 75% of my shots, which sadly is being generous, were interrupted.

I am not some grumpy man nor do I really mind noise. I never blame a bad putt on a whisper. I even sometimes play with music on a speaker. The problem was how consistent and frankly excessive the noise levels were. Every single tee and several fairway shots there were dogs barking non stop. The worst were some that were quiet until the second you started your backswing.

Aside from neglectful owners who live on the course and leave their dogs out, there were several people mowing their lawns, people BLASTING music from their patios, kids fishing on the course and would yell at one another across the pond (which was a safety hazard), etc. On the longest par 5 of the course, there were people drinking loudly with music and kids screaming in their own mini personal bounce house. Not a birthday kind of event either. On another green there was a guy using a power saw in his backyard which carried to the next tee along with a dog to add to it. I have already written too much, but the examples go on and on.

Utterly dispicable the residential ettiquette. I get it, it is your home, it's Sunday afternoon, dogs are dogs and sometimes they suck regardless of great owners, but have some sense of decency to understand you live on a golf course. No one forced you to live on the course. Respect the fact it is my day off too where I spend $50+ in total on the day to begin with and an additional $3 for every ball I lose off the tee from the distraction.

Staff was unfriendly to Golfnow customer

Arrive this course around 1 hr ahead and ask golf cart , but refused from staff although they have plenty of cart.

Also there was plenty of tee time to play, because weather was so windy, and ask if we can play little bit earlier(may be 30 min earlier), but because of Golfnow customer, they can't.

Staff was so unfriendly, don't want play no matter what they offer.

Also it was Saturday but their green was not treated, not ready.

Blue Skies - No Rainbows

This course is fun and fair. Plantation rewards good shots and gives you consequences, for not so good shots, without being a big penalty. Most duffers like me will break 95 without much trouble, if you play smart. The greens are receptive now and the fairways have some pretty good roll. If you don't definitely see a break on the greens....then there isn't one, but the ball will definitely break next to the hole if you baby the shot. And, the ball will not break toward the water, like some other courses. There were some pretty chewed up tee boxes for the white tees. Just a note here: If you are not a good enough golfer to play from the blue or the tips, please don't. Here's how to tell: If you hit your best drive on the average par 4, and you don't have a 9 iron or shorter for your approach shot, then move up one tee box. If a two-some rolls up on a four-some, please let us play through. One of the aspects of Plantation that I especially like is that it drains well. If it has rained enough for Plantation to have standing water in the fairways....stay home. But that's not going to happen. I've played Plantation when other DFW courses had shut down, at least half of the holes, due to the water. Go have some fun!
