The Club at Frisco Farms
About
The Club at Frisco Farms (formerly known as Plantation Golf Club) was created for the average golfer -- it's a user-friendly course where spectacular play is not required for a decent score. Playing only 6,400 yards from the tips and under 6,000 from the middle tees, the golf course isn't long, and it includes many par 4s that are nearly driveable. Erratic, careless play is punished, however, with out-of-bounds lining the fairways and water coming into play on a few holes. Those short par 4s in particular are all guarded by water. Two of The Club at Frisco Farms par-3 holes -- the 148-yard no. 7 and the 188-yard no. 17 -- each require players to carry water. Pace of play here is better than average because of the player-friendly layout.

Fun but scary
Enjoyed playing here on a sunny day. The course was excellent considering the weather in the area lately. The course is fairly easy to play, even for beginners. Only downside was the fear of hitting the houses that are close to the course on all the holes.
Would play there again.
First time, Nice course...
definitely will return and recommend to others. tee it up
Consistently consistent!
The rough at Plantation is smoother than the fairway on some other course in DFW! The only draw back to this round was the greens had recently been aerated. No sand left, but really bumpy. I was surprised that the greens held a good approach as well as they did. Putting was "hit and hope," no matter the length. Couldn't figure out why the traps were so wet - one side dry and the other side of the trap soaked. If Plantation was located in Garland, I would play here alot.
I'll be back!
Sounds cliche right? But, this is a small course that plays big and challenges you! If you don't play it honest it will get you everytime. The greens run deceptively fast so bring your soft touch!
nice green
green is excellent for normal putter.
for the price range, you cannot find a better green in dallas area.
Good conditions just needs some logistics help
I will play again but will be aware of tee time. Second time I've been when carts were an issue and pace of play not good. I'm no speed demon out there but Marshall has to drive pace. As far as the cart situation goes it seems like you know the tee times coming up and should be prepared. Greens looked great and fair ways were well kept. Even the sand we good for those unfortunate errors. Course is scenic and fun to play.
As good a shape as I've ever seen!
Thanks to all the rain this year the course looks stellar! The greens are in as good of shape as I've ever played here!
Good course
Nice course, a little bit more water than I typically like but overall a good course.
Golf at Plantation on a Sunday Afternoon
We teed off on time but play was slow. Marshalling on the course would have helped. The players in front of us did a lot of walking back and forth to their cart to see their lie then get a club. One player routinely drove up on the grass by the teeing ground. They frequently took mulligans without regard of the rest of the palyers behid them. The course was in great shape but they bathrooms were pretty nasty and witha hot Summer day more water is needed for drinking.
Avoid this place like the plague!
I played Plantation a few years back and after yesterday's round I realized why I had not played here for several years. Zero golf carts available at check in time, pro shop staff seemed bothered by every request. Had to wait on every single hole 10-15 minutes since they were backed up. It is a true hackers paradise, every golfer hits 2-3 balls off the tee and in between shots. We teed off at 3PM and finished exactly at 8PM. Pay the extra money and go play somewhere nicer like Frisco Lakes or Westridge.
Now I remember why I don't play there anymore.
It had been some time since I had been out to Plantation, maybe a year or more. Our tee time was not till 2:38, but they had no carts. We did not get carts until right at our tee time. The practice green only had three flags on it, with no actual cups for putting. The course was soaked from rain the night before, and you can tell they have some serious drainage issues. I went into the bar, and the only good thing was the girl behind the counter. Very friendly and attractive. No bottles of soda, only cans. Really??? And $2.00 per can??? I should have just went to 7-11 down the street. The greens were terrible and so slow. It was like they forgot to mow them. Carts were gas powered, and I hate the engine noise from gas. There were three other groups waiting on carts like our group was. Just seems like this place needs to close down and complete a renovation. The nets to protect peoples' houses on the course were old and tattered, and just looked trashy. There was a new guy in our group that just moved to Texas and he said he hopes the other course around are not like Plantation. The one good thing was that the group in front of us let us pass them at the turn. We play fast, and they helped us keep up the pace. The beverage cart on the course was about as sad as the clubhouse, and we only saw the beverage cart three times over 18 holes. I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. I would rather pay $5-$10 more and get a better course with better amenities.
In the Trees Again
Extremely windy. Greens were really smooth, but hard and would not hold a good approach. Kinda weird though, because they were also slow. Fairways were in good shape as well as the tee boxes. Some of the bunkers needed maintenance, as they were almost hard pan under about a half inch of "sand." Luckily, I missed out on playing out of bunkers. I preferred playing from behind trees. Saw a chart girl a couple times, but never a marshal. The round was slow, probably due to the foursome ahead of us during front 9. We got around them at the turn.
Good Course but avoid on weekends
Pace of play started really well but quickly diminished. At my tee time there was no starter present and throughout the round there was not a course marshal to enforce pace of play. Greens were in good shape as were most fairways. Good course to play that is challenging in spots especially on a windy day but I would not recommend it on the weekends unless a marshal is present.
Plantation
I have played this course numerous times and have always enjoyed the course because it has a little bit of everything and challenges the above average player. It has short holes, long holes, holes that go right and holes that go left, plus plenty of water!!! As with every course at this time, it has taken on a lot of water and the course was a bit water logged on this date. But after a little sun and a chance to grow this course should be in excellent shape starting the summer. One thing I really liked about the Plantation were the on board GPS systems on the carts. They would give you the layout of the hole, tell you how far to any water and all the necessary yardages!!! Plus would also let you know how you stood with your pace of play.
Know How to play
Foursome behind us were hitting into us... Wait until fairway is clear...?we are waiting too.
Obviously they had no idea how you should play a round of golf. Other than that we had a good time.
Fairway condition
The condition of fairway was not good (very hard), it feels like hitting a ball on the old driving range matt.
Good neighborhood golf course for the average golfer
Course was in pretty good shape for the time of the year and the greens were actually pretty consistent throughout. Course is flat but has enough water hazards and bunkers to keep it interesting. Played as a group of 3 and finished in 3hrs10min.
Nice iron track.
Driver isn't necessary here for the most part. Dial in your irons for a couple tricky greens.
Beautiful coarse
This is so funny. I was going to call you and voice my concerns on what happened to us. Our (party of 4) tee time was at 1:38 PM. We arrived at 1:15 went to the pro shop and paid the balanced owed. Proceeded to get our carts and was informed that they had none at that time. I asked when might we expect them and was informed that we had 2 groups ahead of us but should not be long. At 1:45 4 guys got their carts, at 1:52 3 ladies walked up and received the next 2 carts. It was obvious by their talking they knew the staff. We expected to get the next 2 carts but at 2:00 the 2 we assumed would be ours went to 4 other guys. By this time we were furious but the starter assured us that we would be next. At 2:12 we finally received our carts. Needless to say we did not finish the round before daylight fell. I have been a few minutes late to start my round but never 35 min late. The course obviously over booked and let friends of the course play before customers. The started said ONLY 2 GROUPS ARE AHEAD OF YOU NOT 3! If this is the norm, I will never go there again and you know how golfers talk about bad experiences.
Best bang for your buck
Plantation is a great good course. The staff is very friendly. The course has some big fairways and greens, yet still very challenging. When the wind is up, it's a battle. Greens are great. In my opinion this is the best valued course in the Metroplex.
