Overall I write this course three out of five stars. The driving range is terrible, completely filled with sand for your hitting surface. The layout of the course is too tight as many times there was golf balls heading towards us while we played. For the money I guess this course is worth it if you get itAt a decent rate
Beautiful Day
Great day no wind are
used 2 iron all day long or four and fives and missed only two fairways
putting was good greens were clean and smooth
great day to play golf
What was is not now
I played here 20+ years ago with my dad. Was a nice country club and now sad.
I would reccomend to a friend because today was a wreck due to a week of rain including misting today. Good news is I played slowly and left off 1st tee at 720am.
Sign on door says open at 645 but not open until 7am. Tee time was 708 when they normally wait for sunrise. Idd that time available.
They are working on course and on a dry day during summer look forward to trying again
Way too busy and not nearly good enough
Unfortunately, I could only make it through 5 holes because I was not feeling well and the on-course restroom was closed, so I had to abandon the round. That said, there was a lengthy frost delay, which is to be expected in mid-January. The staff was really good and gave updates with a smile even though they couldn't do anything to speed things up.
However, a couple of issues did come up. There were already way too many golfers waiting to play, and rather than pushing golfers with a confirmed reservation out closer to their original tee times, the staff pushed out a foursome whose tee time through GolfNow did not go through properly, While, I felt for them as that's happened to me, it was usually when a course had some space. In this case, 2-3 foursomes left due to the frost delay, and instead of moving all of the rest of us up closer to our times, we had to wait for this other foursome that was 3 new golfers and 1 mediocre golfer to finish.
As I said above, the personal health issues make this rating a bit incomplete. However, there were some bright spots, albeit probably only because it was so cold. The greens <looked> shaggy, but rolled quick and smooth. I went 4 for 4 in putts, which was handy because as I was feeling terrible my swing was brutal! The other positive was the layout. I think that with some small improvements, such a little more cleanup of trash and weeds and overseeding the fairways and rough at least, this could be a really good course for the money.
Like a lot of courses in this age range that started as community country clubs when their neighborhoods were first built, Duck Creek is now a mixed daily fee / membership course. Their main clubhouse is well taken care of inside, with a nice looking bar and restaurant that was actually staffed at 8AM on a cold January morning. As mentioned above, the starter crew and pro shop staff were very friendly (maybe all too friendly given the above mentioned issue!).
Now for the bad. This course seemed to attract a TON of very new players, all trying to play at a prime time of the day on a holiday. Pace of play was awful, and made worse by the 3 players with whom I was matched having only 2 sets of clubs between them. The pair sharing the set of clubs were both very new players, and I probably could have walked and finished several minutes faster per hole than them feeling as terrible as I did. This seemed to be the norm in all the groups in front of and behind us. As mentioned above, the course could use some overseeding, and some tree trimming / weed removal. They were actually doing some tree trimming that morning, and the crew was trained well enough to stop their chain saws when groups were putting nearby.
Finally, it may not sound like much, but having an on-course restroom would have helped a ton given I was feeling terrible that day. They could at least have brought in a couple of portable toilets if their restroom was down long-term. I know my wife would not have made it through a round without needing a restroom, and maybe not my son either. They need to ensure that something is available to players, as I'd have likely been able to finish my round had there been an on-course option.
Horrible
Very rude staff to begin with. The course is in horrible shape and very slow. The driving range and putting green are very bad. Will never be back.
Didn’t get to play.
Course was running 1.5 - 2 hours behind so I had to cancel.
Duck Creek Review
This is my favorite course! The staff is always very cordial. The spacing is always paced appropriately. It is a pretty course and just challenging enough. I would recommend
Duck Creek without reservation!
I love this course
...because they accept singles. Duck Creek isn’t fancy but it’s quite a treat for the average golfer. Their rates match the condition of the course: average. I have enjoyed the people I’ve been paired with every time. The pro-shop personnel aren’t always happily checking you in but I quickly forget them when my round begins. If being pampered is not a need that you want met at a golf course, then go play Duck Creek. You will not be disappointed.
Once is enough
I signed up for an online promo. No need to go back. Some holes were pleasant, but most were cramped and many had houses super close to fairways and greens. That was my number 1 complaint, and maybe if I were a better golfer it wouldn’t have been as big of an issue.
Even if I were better, it would be hard to enjoy since it feels like you are playing in the middle of a landfill. The moment you step off the fairway you are amidst piles of trash. To be fair. I played in late December. Maybe in June the grass and vegetation hides the thousands of cups, bags, bottles and who knows what else.
Anyway, there are plenty of other courses in Dallas for next round.
They don’t even pretend to care.
The entire facility is as run down as the course. If I was an owner of one of the homes, I’d be furious. There appears to be no maintenance at all occurring. Every green had about 30 I repaired divots. Every tee box was like hitting off clay. It was difficult finding grass anywhere on any shot. The pro shop staff seemed completely disinterested. I can do a lot better for $45. I won’t be coming back.
