About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Still Winter Conditions
Got a hot deal, and had a $10 off reward so it was pretty cheap...
That said conditions still pretty rough. Greens quick but bumpy, inconsistent and riddled with Poa. Fairways and rough still very dormant. If you get on for cheap it's ok, but that's it. This course used to be great, but for several years now it's just meh.

First time
First time but had a great time despite the range being closed and the chipping “green” needed lots of work but the course was awesome for this early in the year . Greens were smooth and fast and the fairways, etc were dormant . Cant wait to come back later in the year !!

If you asked me to recommend a better course in this price range and in close proximity to Dallas l wouldn’t even have a close second to mention. Outstanding! beautiful layout, great landscape, excellent design. Can’t wait to play it again in the spring and summer. Only negative was the greens which are currently fighting off poa and normal pre to early spring issues. 5 stars with better kept greens

Good shape for February
Staff was very friendly at checki-in and the course was in better than expected shape for this time of year. Plenty of elevation changes at this course, making it a stand out in the DFW area.

Must Play
While it was only my second round in Texas, I was very impressed. Conditions of the course were excellent in the staff was very friendly. The range was grass and very open. Chipping and putting areas were also very open and a great show of what to expect on the course. My only complaints would be the pace of play, which was fine, I just like to play fast, and the cigarette and cigar butts littering the course. Not sure if this is a Texas thing but I feel like that’s how fires start and also in my eyes it’s disrespectful to the game and to other golfers. But the course is awesome and I can promise I’ll be back.
