About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

A favorite
Love tangle ridge. Layout is great and fun for average and above. The greens were reseeded so they were not good. But oh well, soon they will be fine. Great amenities. You will enjoy.

Great course; pro shop guys need to attend a customer service work shop.
Course is great with nice, scenic views and a variety of different holes. Restaurant staff and maintenance staff are also great but...
The pro shop guys all need to attend a customer service workshop. A small misunderstanding about the “rules” turned in to a big altercation because the pro shop guy was combative. Rather than treating us like customers who chose to play at TR, he took the posture of dictator and began bossing us around like we were a bunch of rebellious teenagers (we’re in our 40’s). We honestly didn’t know a fine point about when the course closes:
I go to TR because it’s a great course at a good price. But, I’m tired of the Pro Shop guys and have had pointless altercations with them over the most trivial things a few times. My hope is the TR management can use reviews like this to better care for their customers.
Great Pace of Play
The pace of play was perfect. The fairways and bunkers were in great condition. Greens were bumpy and slow because they had been aerated and sanded. That wasn’t a deal breaker. Course played really well.

Should let you know when punching greens
Selected tee times two days before playing. Not a word about punching/sanding greens (the day prior to review) from course or golf now. Get out there and it was like putting on the beach. This course is typically great but really disappointed it took getting out there and paying before knowing what we were getting into. Give it a month and should be looking great

Not a better course layout in DFW
Course was a tad firm, but this is easily a top 3 course in DFW. Greens rolled well. Fairways were burned a little but still soft enough. Walking only, but an easier course to walk than I anticipated.

For this time of year the course is looking good. Wouldn't hesitate to play it again. It was walking only due to corona virus. Beautiful scenery and wide fairways. You will be pleased when you play it.

WALKING ONLY
Would have been nice if they stated the course was walking only. Love this course, layout, fairways and greens were in great shape. And the staff is the best. I have knee issues and both will require surgery later this year. I did play and walked and was posting my lowest round in 2 years with a 1 over heading into 16. My knees gave out and triple bogey the last holes. Again, why do any course that makes cart to walking NOT state that. Way toooo many courses in the DFW area that provides each individual player a cart.

Great layout
My new favorite course because of the layout. Wide fairways but still has tree lined holes that make it peaceful. Greens seems to dry out quick but they were receptive and rolled good. Will definitely go back

Staff were rude
The course is great but the staff acts weird and they are very unfriendly.. I thought they just didn’t like me until my partner said the same thing. I would play again because I like the course but the staff needs to improve.

Get your game on
this course can yield good scores --this course can eat your lunch, Tangle Ridge is one of the best in the area. Need time to green up. LIes are tight and that does not bode well unless you are a more of a picker. Greens are fast, even after micro punching. Weather was great. Round took 5 hours. Will come back again without hesitation.

Slow play for the last 10 holes
Great layout and friendly staff. Greens were not bad. Rolled pretty good. Biggest issue was the slow play today it took around four hours and 40 minutes to complete 18 holes. I think the Marshal got there too late to fix the problem but was apologetic. Overall a great place to play and a fun test of golf.
A little wet round
Unfortunately we played the course on a day it was raining so we couldn't get a full appreciation of the course. We are from out of town and had prebooked so there was no other opportunity to play it.
But even in the wet conditions, the course layout was good and it drained well. We did enjoy the layout with all holes being very playable with generous fairways and some interesting short par 4s that required good club selection and strategy. The greens were well maintained with my only criticism being that one of the holes on the front nine was being aerated as we played!
We will definitely return when we are in the area again.
