Many of the par-3s like the 6th here have a lot of elevation change. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 04/19/2018

The 7th is a long par-4 with fescue on the right that will gobble up your ball in no time. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 04/19/2018

Pace of play is very poor
Maryland National is a great course and I love playing there. However, it is not a single-player friendly course. I have no problem to pair with other people, but their online reservation does not allow single to book. If you call, they basically ask you to call the day you want to play or walk on even the tee times are wide open. I have to drive an hour to get there, so I end up booking tee time at Little Bennett or P B Dye a week in advance. GlofNow and TeeOff actually provide an alternative for single-player to play at Maryland National and that is why I played there on Halloween, Sunday October31. The temperature was only high 50, but feels like low 50 because it was extremely windy. I was glad I had an extra layer. The real problem is the pace of play. I have to wait very long time for each shot in a windy condition. That is no fun.
PLAY HERE
The photos don’t do this course justice. Amazing views, pristine conditions. Feels different than 99% of courses in the area.
Hot Deal but not that happy
The condition of the green is not good enough for the reputation of the course.
Not a bad track
Overall I thought the course was fun, lots of elevation changes, challenging holes. The best part was they offer a military rate on weekend mornings. Conditions were good, I wasn't a fan of the bunkers though, many seemed like they were more dirt than sand.
My gripe with the course was we had the 7am tee time. They made us tee off in darkness. It was three holes before we could see a shot. Common, this isn't the first year it's been been dark at 7am. We played Musket Ridge later that day, asked them what their first tee time was and they said 8am. Made perfect sense.
Minus the darkness I enjoyed the course, and would go back if in the area.
Prettiest course!
The staff & club amenities were fabulous! For a public course, it was on par with a country club feel. Bloody Mary’s were excellent! We can’t wait to play here again!!! Our experience couldn’t have been any better! Thank you!
Love this course, but ....
This is among my favorite courses and I was treating myself to a round here. I came as a single and booked it through GolfNow. When I arrived a friendly starter greeted me and when I asked to ride alone he contact a superior who said flatly that it would be $20 more for me to do that. There was no shortage of carts (no one had teed of for around 20 minutes) and I asked again about the single cart as I didn't know the man whom I was to share a cart with and have been very careful as I, and my wife, though vaccinated are in high risk groups. They made it clear that wouldn't happen. Then when we got on the tee there were 2 guys who had been waiting for a half hour to tee off and, since we were only 2 as well, we introduced ourselves and invited them along. At this point the staff came and wouldn't allow us to make a foursome. You tell me the reason as none was given. I get the impression they don't like Golfnow users and discriminate against them. If you don't want us, then don't use Golfnow. Great course, but the management needs to improve and remember we PAY THEIR salaries by playing there!
