Prettiest course!
The staff & club amenities were fabulous! For a public course, it was on par with a country club feel. Bloody Mary’s were excellent! We can’t wait to play here again!!! Our experience couldn’t have been any better! Thank you!
Love this course, but ....
This is among my favorite courses and I was treating myself to a round here. I came as a single and booked it through GolfNow. When I arrived a friendly starter greeted me and when I asked to ride alone he contact a superior who said flatly that it would be $20 more for me to do that. There was no shortage of carts (no one had teed of for around 20 minutes) and I asked again about the single cart as I didn't know the man whom I was to share a cart with and have been very careful as I, and my wife, though vaccinated are in high risk groups. They made it clear that wouldn't happen. Then when we got on the tee there were 2 guys who had been waiting for a half hour to tee off and, since we were only 2 as well, we introduced ourselves and invited them along. At this point the staff came and wouldn't allow us to make a foursome. You tell me the reason as none was given. I get the impression they don't like Golfnow users and discriminate against them. If you don't want us, then don't use Golfnow. Great course, but the management needs to improve and remember we PAY THEIR salaries by playing there!
Worth the drive
If you’ve been playing well and want to give yourself a test, take a run up to Myersville, MD. You need to know your yardages as the will be some blind shots that will call for confidence over the ball
Friendly staff
Excellent Course Conditions
It's been several years since I played Maryland National, and I'm glad I made the hour trip out I-70. This course is quit a challenge with both narrow and wide fairways, and most of the holes weave and cut and there simply are not many straight holes. There are bunkers placed in landing areas throughout the course, and the rough is long, lush, and penalizing. From tee to green, this course is in excellent condition. Even though they aerated earlier this week, the greens were hard and fast. The small needle-point aeration marks were no problem. The pace of play for a Saturday morning was good...4 hours 10 minutes. We waited on every hole, but we were a twosome following a couple of foursomes, so it's going to be much slower for us. The scenery and vistas from many of the holes of the mountains are beautiful. And, Maryland National has a great grill for after the round. The $79 aeration special was a nice treat, as it's usually $95-$115 on the weekends so it was a nice surprise. If you've never played Maryland National, give it a try...but take your patience and think your way around the course for proper club selection (the elevation changes will add or reduce clubs).
Anytime I'm in the area
I played Maryland National after it was recommended by a starter at another course. What a great experience. There was a lot of elevation change, great vistas, and an excellent layout. It has the feel of older courses that I have played with blind shots, and sloping fairways. I can't wait to return to the area and play the course again,
Course was unique in many ways, fairways and bunkers were very playable.Greens were a little shaky but fair.Inside staff was very nice and helpful, starters(cart boys)could improve their social skills?Overall we had a very good day and will certainly return!
