Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Open again.
Course re-opened in early may. Still alot of debris and mud in low areas. Greens were good after 6 months of no play. The course is quirky as ever. Customer service is non-existent. Still a decent play at $30. Met some good guys and played 16.5 holes on a gorgeous friday afternoon.
Nice greens and layout
Really enjoyed the course. Greens in good shape and layout pleasant Played with couple members whom also speak highly of the course and management. Will play again soon.
Riverside
Another great course is managed by Arics golf (formally Eagle golf)! From tee to green the course is in good condition. The staff is very friendly. Number 2 is a Par 5 reachable in 2, even if you are not a long hitter.
Good Course for the Money
Had an overall good experience at Riverside. The front nine is a little more open than the back nine, but the course overall is a pretty narrow course with dog legs on multiple holes. The course can also be somewhat challenging as water comes into play on several holes. Pace of play was good, but started to get backed up on the last few holes (we were a twosome, behind a twosome that was behind a foursome), but it didn't slow us down too much. Overall, if you can get in on GolfNow, the course is worth trying out - good value course in decent shape, and has sand and water throughout.
Round
Enjoyed the challenge but the cost of beer was outrageous
Good bang for the buck
Course was in great shape, lightning fast greens and fairways were nice. We had a really slow group in front of us, but overall it was enjoyable.
Great conditions
With the flood that hit this course. You would never know anything ever hit them. Great job!!!!
VERY NICE COURSE
I HAVE PLAYED HERE MAY TIMES BEFORE AND THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME BACK IN ABOUT 12 YEARS. THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND THE GPS WAS VERY HELPFUL. I WOULD DEFINITELY PLAY HERE AGAIN.
Course is in great shape
If you haven't played here come play here.. I will be back..
Nice Track
Course was in good condition, especially for this time of year. Only issues was, would be nice to have more water jugs spread out on the course. Was 100, and I believe there were only a couple per side.
Consistently consistent!
Really like this course. Pace of play was a little slow, but really not too bad for a Saturday morning. Fairways, tee boxes, and greens in excellent condition. It was nice to play a course and actually need to repair a ball mark on the green. They were fast - smooth, and subtle with the movement. Be sure not to go left on either the par four, 7th or the part three 8th. No return. I think the hardest hole on the course is the short par four, 15th. Without a perfectly place tee shot, you are doomed. The cough was a little harsh, but not totally unfair for the duffer. If I had a wish, it would be for the course to have a couple bathrooms installed half way through each nine. You will really like this course.
Hidden Gem
Been playing around this area and was reluctant to play there. Glad I finally did. What a great course with a great layout. Greens were consistent and fairways were very good. I will be back very soon.
My best round ever...almost
Playing my best round ever until sand on 17 and water on 18 rocketed my score into my normal range! Fun round on a fun, challenging course.
Good Sunday Round
Played very nice for a Sunday evening round. Was reasonably priced and the pace of play was pretty solid. Course played pretty challenging for me, but was fun and in pretty good condition for the dead of summer.
I'll be back...
Good course/Bad staff
Unfriendly staff. Crowd on the 1st tee w/ no starter or direction as to who would be next off. Tee time meant nothing. Staff did not organize foursomes. Pace of play was slow and there was no marshall. Course is in good condition. There are some challenging holes but many are a drive and short iron. Greens putted well. Bunkers are large and deep (hard to get in/out of).
Picked the best day to play a great course
High of 74 degrees in August!?
Such was our weather and Riverside did not disappoint. Loved the GPS! Much needed for first timer on this layout. Greens in great shape and the course overall was quite good. I would recommend this place for the $ to anyone!
Pace of play is atrocious
Corse was jam packed with people and not a single foursome was made. They let me go off as a single so I assumed it would rather open in front of me. I immediately ran into a 3 some who eventually let me play through only to come upon a pair who was waiting on the pair in front of them
Staff is never helpful, had to wait 15 minutes to even go off at my tee time because they didn't have any carts available and I eventually just got on a cart someone returned without the staff cleaning it out.
Hot, but still fun
There were still some signs of the course recovering from the floods and the greens were at 80 recovery from the aeration (hence the fire deal). Course had a small tournament that morning and created a back up in play which resulted in a 5+ hour round. The temperature hit just over 100 but I like the heat. All in all it was a good day on the course rather than at home on a honey do list!
