Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Great Condition
Course was in great condition. Fairways not too hard, greens were extremely well kept.
Greens & bunker were tough condition
essentially course had some previous storm damage which this golfer took into conditions however greens were punched but grass had grown into the holes more sanding could aliviated this condition. The price was high for the condition of the course. The sand was very hard & no iron could get through.it.
Poor experience
Very little shade, bridges are dilapidated, finished a round of 18 one hour behind pace due to slow play by groups in front of us. Water jugs were rare to find, not good when the heat index was 108. Our cart was terribly maintained and the other two in our foursome had a cart that distance screen didn't work.
Riverside 7-23
Riverside needs a Marshall. The front nine was fine but we caught with a twosome who thought they should wait for the extremely slow foursome in front of them to begin putting before they teed off on 4's. There were at leas 3 holes empty in front of the foursome.
Good Value if <$25/round
Riverside is lush and green after the floods rescinded. The only negative is that the bugs are out because of the natural ponds that are around so many holes.
Great values available at this course.
yes its very nice green some faireway is very rough.
Need more improved on cartpad its very rough and
Sand trap is very rough, any way i will incurred friend
and family to come and play in the future
Poor course management is an issue at this club
My friend and I played this course as a twosome witha 3:23 tee time on Thursday 7/2. As we approached the tee box we noticed a twosome teeing off, with another twosome in the fairway followed by a single. There was no one making announcements as to who should be on the tee so we waited in line as there also was no marshall there either. After the single in front of us teed off we asked if he wanted to make it a 3some but he ignored our question and drove off. We watched him hit multiple shots from the same spot and continued to do this throughout the round. After the 1st hole we again waited at the tee and once again asked if he wanted to play together an dh said he wanted to play by himself. The pace of play was extremely slow and at one point on a hole that was cartpath only he walked back to his cart 3 times to switch clubs on the same shot with no one on the green. After 3 hours we had finished 10 holes and finally gave up and left but not before stopping in the clubhouse to let them know that they need to control pace of play and to pair up singles to also improve pace of play. They need to remove the ready golf intro from their GPS as they do not enforce it at all at this course and obviously no one bothers to pay attention to it either.
Riverside GC
My son and I played a round of golf an found the course in good condition overall. Greens were somewhat slow but good overall. Some of the bunkers had pounding water so I tried not hitting in them.
$20 after 5pm!!
Rains have really helped this course. Fairways are in excellent shape and the green are good, too. It's Texas so you know it's going to be hot. Complaining about it isn't going to change that. Good variety of holes with different challenges, Some narrow fairways and some wide. Lower areas are still a little muddy, but that's to be accepted after the past couple months. Thinking I'll be stopping in a couple times a week after 5.
Slow pace of play
Have played here before and had a good experience. The course was in decent shape, but the pace of play was too slow and it killed the round.
Back in play
Considering the course just opened after being flooded it was OK the front nine was in good shape but the back nine is in rough condition with NO sand in 70% of the bunkers. Many areas on the back nine are muddy and not accessible. The greens are in good shape. Prior to the weather the course was in great shape and I know they will have it back to standard ASAP. At this point it is not a good dollar value and fees should be reduced until the course is 100%.
Extra water hazards
Overall the course is in good shape considering all the rain and the flooding this course had over the past month. A lot of standing water where there is supposed to be fairways. I've never lost so many balls IN the fairway. Haha!
One hole was switched to a par 3, from a par four because of the flooding.
The greens were in excellent shape considering all the past rain. Once the fairways are dry and drained, the overall conditions will be great.
Pace of play wasn't bad for a Saturday morning. We finished just under four hours.
I will definitely return and play. Hopefully the "extra" hazards will be gone.
Poor greens for the price.
Charged me for 2 players 100 dollars. And everything was still under water. Not a good idea to charge full price for bad greens.
Challening course with lots of water
Played Riverside today with my best friend of 20 years. Rained off and on during the round but not heavy enough to disrupt play. Most of the bunkers had 6-8 inches of water in them. With all of the rain we have been getting here in the area, the overall drainage of the course was pretty good. Greens and fairways were great even with the weather, but the numerous water hazards on the course made up for that. Staff was pretty good but you could tell that a lot of them did not want to be out in the rain :).
Good course
Windy but not unbearable. The greens are true and the traps are well maintained. Fun course at a great price and good for amatures. The course is open, not a lot of trees but you'll lose some balls in water on a few holes.
Nice,but slow round
Everything was great except a 5 hour round. It was the best weather day of year so far, probably why so crowded.
Good course
Challenging course, greens and fairways good shape, I'll be back soon
Decent track conveniant to DFW Airport
Played this course mid week before a late afternoon flight out of DFW. It was in decent condition except for the bunkers which were very wet, some full of water. The course is a pretty fun design, although there are a couple funky holes and the greens are small. This is the first and only course I have played in the area so I don't know how it compares to other courses. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would play there again. It was a great way to kill time before catching my flight.
