Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Unexpectedly good conditions!
Played in the afternoon twilight for $20! Great value and we finished in under 4 hrs to boot! Nice outing!
Good course
Course is in pretty good shape. They could use a starter
Pace of play
Why was there not a Marshall anywhere to be seen?! We played behind a foursome where one person in the group constantly stayed on his (flip) phone!! On the green, on the tee box, even in the fairways!! After we finally got fed up and realized there would be no "Marshall to the rescue", a member of my group approached them--and after we returned a club they left on a previous hole--and reminding them the condition for returning the club was they had to pick up there pace--their explanation was the group in front of THEM was playing slowly! Again though--why no marshalls?
Great Muni!
As of 7/1/16 they have added GPS back to the carts. This is a nice little course and GPS makes it that much nicer for the cost and experience. I play here almost once every two weeks and I enjoy myself each time. Greens are a little slow compared to the country club I used to belong to, but that is to be expected given that this is a public course. I will continue to book rounds here.
Love this course
Wonderful course! There was no one tailing us the entire time, unlike other courses where they stack everyone after one another. It's a beautiful, challenging course that's worth every cent.
Great Day on The Links!!
Easy access and beautiful location!
Just started this Game 2.5 yrs ago at
60!! My 5yr old and I had a Great Day!
Fairways and greens are in Great shape!
Bunkers looked like the heavy rain did some damage...
Will be back Soon!!

Back up and running
Course opened back up after a 6 month closure. This course is great! Fairways and greens are in excellent shape.
Facility does need a new / updated club house.
Pretty Solid Course
I've lived in Dallas for about 7 months now and I've only gotten to play a few courses so far - I think this was the best one I've played yet.
The layout is pretty challenging and it varies. Some fairways are narrow and lined with trees to one side and a hazard on the other, some are wide open and you can miss a full fairway to the right and play down that fairway and still par, but those greens will be heavily protected by bunkers, water, or both.
The greens are relatively quick (fastest I've played yet at least) but it's not like putting on glass. Some of the greens are incredibly small, so if you're not a high caliber iron player than expect to be chipping from around the green a decent amount.
All the holes are fair (none where you have to hit a 9 iron off the tee on a par 5) and it gives a pretty good challenge. Would have liked to see the Marshall out more to regulate pace but I got my round finished in just under 5 hours, which isn't that unbearable. Clubhouse is a glorified trailer, but they have good practice areas.
Challenging
Challenging course for a first time player. Great conditions from tee to green. Lots of water and sand on every hole. Bring your A game or it will be a long day.
Riverside survives the elements!
Riverside just recently re-opened after a long period of dealing with the elements. The course plays alongside the Triinity River, and is a beautiful layout, but is also prone to flooding whenever heavy rain falls. On May 14, the course itself was in pristine condition, subject to a few wet bunkers and unplayable low areas. Greens were absolutely perfect. The course is a great challenge and at current pricing is an excellent value!
Open again.
Course re-opened in early may. Still alot of debris and mud in low areas. Greens were good after 6 months of no play. The course is quirky as ever. Customer service is non-existent. Still a decent play at $30. Met some good guys and played 16.5 holes on a gorgeous friday afternoon.
Nice greens and layout
Really enjoyed the course. Greens in good shape and layout pleasant Played with couple members whom also speak highly of the course and management. Will play again soon.
Riverside
Another great course is managed by Arics golf (formally Eagle golf)! From tee to green the course is in good condition. The staff is very friendly. Number 2 is a Par 5 reachable in 2, even if you are not a long hitter.
Good Course for the Money
Had an overall good experience at Riverside. The front nine is a little more open than the back nine, but the course overall is a pretty narrow course with dog legs on multiple holes. The course can also be somewhat challenging as water comes into play on several holes. Pace of play was good, but started to get backed up on the last few holes (we were a twosome, behind a twosome that was behind a foursome), but it didn't slow us down too much. Overall, if you can get in on GolfNow, the course is worth trying out - good value course in decent shape, and has sand and water throughout.
Round
Enjoyed the challenge but the cost of beer was outrageous
Good bang for the buck
Course was in great shape, lightning fast greens and fairways were nice. We had a really slow group in front of us, but overall it was enjoyable.
Great conditions
With the flood that hit this course. You would never know anything ever hit them. Great job!!!!
VERY NICE COURSE
I HAVE PLAYED HERE MAY TIMES BEFORE AND THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME BACK IN ABOUT 12 YEARS. THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND THE GPS WAS VERY HELPFUL. I WOULD DEFINITELY PLAY HERE AGAIN.
Holy Cow! You have a 5 year old? You didn't just start golf late...more power to you.
