Don't hit a wayward shot!
The high rough is extremely close to hole layout. You get 10-15 yards off the fairway and around the green and there's a great chance you're in the high rough and can't find your ball. So, high handicappers beware and carry lots of extra balls...you will need them.
Excellent course
I love this course. It is challenging yet fun. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. It is one of my favorite courses in KC.
A Good Old Kansas City Course
Fred Arbanas (we used to call it "Longview") has always been one of my favorite KC courses. IT's got plenty of challenges, but it is fair. The greens are always in good shape, especially since they re-did them a few years ago. It's as long as you want it to be from the blues, and from the whites it's plenty challenging as well. Lots of elevation changes and rolling fairways, but not a pure "links" course by any means. Every hole has it's own flavor and character.
And one of the best things is that it's one of the few good courses in town that you can easily walk if you want. I really like this course.
Golf in March
Who is in great shape for the early spring time in late winter
Great Course. Good shape for 1-30-2016
Great course and shape for Jan. Was behind a 5 some from start to finish and they were slow. They never suggested we play through. No marshall either on course other than starter.
Well laid out with some picturesque holes.
Greens fast and rolled true. Fairways were in very good condition. Leaves are starting to pile up in places.
No six-somes please
Had some out of town company for the weekend and played some golf. I have played Arbanas before and really like the course and had not had trouble before with terrible slow play until now. We were waiting 5-7 minutes before each shot on a Saturday afternoon. We had 2 twosomes playing in front of us and they were waiting as well. On a hole where more of the course was visible i noticed I could physically count 8 groups on the 2 holes I could see, the front group consisted of 6 , yes 6, players, 5 of whom were walking. The next group behind them had 5 players who had 4 out of 5 walking. I love walking the course as well but have no reason to go back to a course who allows that large of groups on any day, especially a weekend. When we skipped the 18th hole because of indifference and went to the club house to complain , we were told that in no way would they allow it and that we were mistaken and that their "marshals" , which we never saw a marshall let alone "marshals" would have not allowed it. Will not rush back to this place again and thought it the poorest managed course in the KC metro.
Painfully Slow
The course was in good shape. They'd aerated in the past week or so, but the greens still rolled true. It was one of the slowest rounds of golf I've played in years.
Another Nice Round at Longview
We played in almost ideal weather conditions just a little wind. The greens came back good from being punched a touch sandy be rolled good. Fairways were in good condition just a few ground under repair spots. We had to wait on most holes but once we teed off it went well. Longview has not ever been known for speed golf. Paired up with a nice father and son duo.
WTF has happened?
For the fist time in 20+ years of playing golf I saw a group of 6 allowed to play. 6! And get this, there was even a starter sending groups off. Marshall on duty was dim witted and clueless. Sat directly in line with one of my shots, signaled him to move and he didn't. Shot went off target. He did same thing to peopleI was playing with. What an idiot!
Good track!
I've played this course several times this year and have found a new way around each time. Pin placements are always creative.
Fred Arbanas Golf Course
An extremely challenging golf course, the holes were in great shape and the greens were very fast. Overall, I would recommend it for an above average golfer.
Great Golf
Course is great shape. Rough is challenging, the greens were receptive and rolling true. Fairways are open and forgiving as well as being in great shape. Beautiful course, spread out and has some nice views.
PPP
Golf tournament scheduled right before we were to tee off. Course shouldn't have posted a golfnow spot for that time knowing they had a tourney. 6 hour round of golf is ridiculous.
Decent course
Fun course and pretty wide open. Frog hair was in rough shape but everything else was in pretty good condition including the greens.
Where the fringe..?
Greens are good, rest of course is questionable at best
Fringes Dead, Customer Unfriendly
Avoid the course. The fringes are all dead, the course is in poor condition.
SLOWWWWWWWW
The course was in pretty good shape, greens rolled wonderfully. No marshals regulating pace of play, as well as them allowing singles and doubles during a busy day was a horrible idea. Last time I played the course was a weekend, thought it would be better during the week mid day. It was not.
Fun Course
Started our round by following a slow fivesome on a Saturday morning. Called the clubhouse and tried to encourage a marshall to manage but none came. There were 4 open holes before the fivesome let us pass. After that, all was great. Ironically, a marshall showed up on the back nine to offer water...just wish they would have started earlier.
Arbanas is a fun course with a few challenging holes but mostly wide open. Great course to go low. Greens in good condition for this time of year.
Great course for walking!
Wonderful course!
I love this course! Probably my favorite in the eastern KC suburbs. The holes are so scenic, especially in the fall. Number 12 down by the lake was a real treat. The zoysia fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Greens are expansive, undulating, fast and smooth. A good course for walkers as well.
