good location, lots of trees, nice to play in hot days
Wide open, easy to play, lots of trees, convenient location,
green is small, reasonable green fee, will play again whenever has good deal
Course is in good shape.
Overall great experience. We were the first group out and finished the round in 4 hrs, rare for a Sunday.
Slow play and poor conditions on the Mountain course
I have played Whittier Narrows more than a dozen times in the past year, never having played the Mountain. This was the first time that I was forced to play a combination of Pine and Mountain. While Pine was in its typical condition which is well manicured along with terrific pace of play, Mountain was a completely different story. Condition of its tee boxes, fairways and the greens were very poor. It was night and day compared to the Pine and the River. I was also frustrated by the fact that it took over 3 1/2 hours to play 9 holes of Mountain whereas the the Pine took less than 2 hours. Try and avoid playing the Mountain. It's not worth your trouble.
Greens recently punched.
1:30 tee time. The greens need several more weeks to grow into a playable surface. Probably why it wasn't busy.
Good course for the money
Nice wide open fairways, with well maintained greens. Good for weekday golf if you're looking for a way to relax and have some fun.
If I didn't get 40% off on Golf Now, I would not have played this course.
Everything from tee boxs to greens need attention on this course. The tee boxs are patchy grass and some dead grass with alot of dirt areas. The fairways are not "rolling" nor are they "green." They are just bumby. I think we spilled more beer than we drank driving through the fairways. The greens were green but very lumpy. Do not expect any thing close to a true roll. There are a lot of beginners on this course who don't know ettiquet and keep the pace of play very slow. We played for over 5 hours and could not finish because the sun set and the slow pace of play.
The course is in good shape
The fairways are nice and greens are fast. I played just nine holes and it was very enjoyable.
I don't want to play at this course.
My tee time was 12:07.
But I started 1:30.
It was horrible.
Good course to just get out and play nothing special just enough to get the itch.
The course is in pretty good shape the greens are good and roll true for the most part. Just a good course to play that is cheap through golfnow and gets the itch scratched. The course isn't tough it's right in front of you it is just a no frills golf course but I like it cause its close, cheap and a pretty long layout.
6+ hours for 18 holes
I booked my tee time for 12:37 but yet I didn't get to tee off until 1:30. They overbook EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm surprised this course is still on golfnow because every time i try to give this place a second chance, i always leave this place thinking i will never ever come back. This time, I mean it.
Decent
Course is in good shape, especially the greens. Play was a little slow in the beginning due to a number of walkers but picked up after the turn. Some difficulty in finding balls off the fairway due to the falling leaves at this time. For the money, a decent value.
Super Price Super Fun
I played here with my wife & we both enjoyed it. Carts were clean & the staff was mega friendly especially the starter. He made you feel at ease which means a lot on the 1st tee. The place was once ran by Arnold Palmer & you can tell. Very clean no dead spots of fair way or rough plus a great lay out. I used all the clubs in my bag so its not a pitch and putt thats for sure. They have a back 9 you can play anytime also so thats a big plus if you cant play 18!
Worth the cost!
Decent course, Greens are good, fairways are decent. Too many fivesomes on the course, so the pace of play is slow. Overall I'd recommend.
This course is ok, not the best but cheap
Course was in decent shape for the traffic it gets
Whittier Narrows - good and bad
Played on a Saturday morning and played behind 3 5-somes. That's all there is to say. Why do golfers wait until group ahead of them is over 300 yds away? And why do all golfers feel they have to play from blue/black tees when they hit only 200 yds. Greens are truly postage stamp size. Starters are very rude - probably because of dealing with such a pushy group of golfers. The course it self was in good condition except for a few fairways that looked like they had not been mowed.
Greens were very good. Rest of course needs work.
Nice greens. Rough too rough. Pace of play very slow, but some of that was due to not being able to find your ball in the overly long rough. If you're going to play, block out a whole day.
course need to be mowed.
The course need to be mowed and trimmed. The greens were in good shape. They were mowing but leaving large clumps of grass all over the fairways..
