Crystal Falls Golf Course
About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

11th Hole at Crystal Falls Golf Course, Leander TX Photo submitted by wshowers on 12/02/2012
fast and unpredictable greens
good course to play. can play fast if you want. good gps.
cons: can't bring your own beer, drinks. food is not all that good.
I Love This Course!!!
I've been here a few times and I'm always impressed especially for the price. It's a beautiful course and holes 2 & 10 are my favorite anywhere bc you're hitting off the top of the hill/cliff down to the greens. The staff has always been great to me and my guests that I bring to play. If you're coming from Austin then it'll be a 20-30 min drive to get there but well worth it. I recommend playing here any chance you get, and if you have not been here yet then be planned to be blown away with how beautiful it is!
Love this place
Course is a top notch facility! Nice driving range, putting and chipping areas, clubhouse, nice gas carts and very fun picturesque course! What's not to love! Greens were sanded today, so the greens were a bit challenging, but still very playable. Will be back , soon!
Review of Crystal Falls
All tee boxes were green and all fairways and greens were just about perfect. Course was excellent but there were other issues. The driving range is not even 300 yards so don't bother using your driver out there. Also the are restricted areas that if you stay in them long enough the cart will die and you have to push it out of that area. This was my first time to play there so I ddin't know this. So some restricted areas made sense (when you get close to the greens) others didn't make any sense ( along the fairway of the 7th hole).
Has Become the Best course in Central Texas
The changes to the course has made this now one of my favorites. Is kept in great condition which creates a very enjoyable round of golf. Great job with this gem in the hills.
Challenging and fun!
Course comes with a lot of challenges, various elevations and such, but it's in great condition and perfect for testing your skill.
Round at Crystal falls
Great challenging course with lots of hills and water awesome views with the elevated tee boxes but a little overpriced in my opinion to play a round there needs to be a little bit cheaper
Great Course
I always enjoy playing this course..staff is always professional and nice..only problem i have is Marshalls needs to pay better attention to the course instead of being in the woods looking for golf balls..other than that...The course is one of my favorite and I'm a member at another course but like to come and play this one every now and then...
crystal falls golf course
it would be an outstanding place to play if you wouldn't have to stay on cart paths on par 4;s and par 5's. experienced playing in the evenings having twosomes and threesomes cutting ahead of you and slowing pace of play. I would recommend this course to friends.
Amazing condition right now.
Crystal Falls is a challenging course, and different from a lot of courses near Austin because you have to take into account significant roll-out, particularly with your driver. Rather than hitting the ball straight up the fairway or straight toward the pin, you'll often be challenged to hit the edge of a fairway or the edge of green so that the ball rolls toward your final target. If you don't know where to hit it, it can be frustrating to watch what appears to be a perfect shot roll into the hazards. HOWEVER... once you learn the course, it's really amazing how you can work your way around knowing how the course will feed your ball toward your target. As of 8/18/14, the fairways and greens are as nice, or better, than significantly more expensive courses. Go play Crystal Falls and you will definitely enjoy the condition, if not the challenge. Play it twice and you'll certainly enjoy both.
Great first round here
The course is very hilly, lots of trees and canyons and sloping fairways. Greens are in excellent shape, held shots well. Putting speed was average. Oddly, there are no bunkers or sand traps anywhere on this course. I would not recommend walking it due to the hills and the often great distances between greens and tees. Discount for seniors (like me), making for especially good value for the money. Highly recommended.
Course looks great right now
This is a tighter course than most, so don't be afraid to put the driver away if it is erratic for you. It is in great shape right now, the greens are sandy, but it is barely noticeable. Get out there and play it now!
beautiful course in great condition
Course in great condition both from health of grass and maintenance standpoint. Well designed course with many panoramic views and stone features. Very hilly course so could not imagine walking it. We had a great time and will most definitely be back. Leander truly has a gem in its neighborhood.
First Time, Awesome Time
Weather, Course, Staff.... will come back again and again.
Slow play/lack of courtesy
Had a 730 teetime and they bumped us to 720 because the group before was late. Good start. Good management. By the 2nd hole, we waited on 95% of our shots throughout the round. sometimes 5 minutes or more. At least one hole was open with the group in front of us. When you see people waiting behind you, let them play through or get a ranger out there to say the same or tell them to pick up their ball and move to the next hole. We would have easily played under 4 hours which is typical with my group as we are early starters every weekend. I'm very impressed at how well this course has matured over the years but sadly, i'm in no hurry to get back there and play a 4.5+ hour round.
Great Course
We have played several courses around Austin and this is by far our favorite "go-to" course!
Worst course management ...
Worst course management ...
Allow foursome to cut ahead of twosomes .. Course Marshall has no authority on the course. Management told us were we playing to fast.. Well for give us for getting on the green in 2 on par 4's.. Hitting all fairways.. Foursome hunting for golf balls
Ahead of us... I will never play this course again. Don't waste your time or money.
What a Change from 1997
The course was amazing. I've not played it in 17 years. The changes were unbelievable. The greens were fantastic. The course was always challenging, but it was nice with the changes and great course condition. It's a great test of managing a course. I already have a tee time for next Saturday morning. My hat is off to the people behind the improvements....great job. Impressive!!!!
Could easily become my favorite course in NW Austin area
No rating for the food & beverage category because we didn't have a chance to stop after play to enjoy the facility.
