Crystal Falls Golf Course
About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

11th Hole at Crystal Falls Golf Course, Leander TX Photo submitted by wshowers on 12/02/2012
Quirky
Most holes are blind tee shots. Two 3 pars are off drop offs where there is no way to choose a club. Tilted fairways. Greens nice but hairy and slow. Beautiful views and course but nearly unplayable unless you play here alot. You better know the course well and bring your A game.
Four hours and 45 minutes to o play teeing off at 8:20 is not enjoyable
Course was in pretty good shape. Price is good they just need to stay after people to stay up with the group in front of them. Their pace of B play is 4 1/2 hours which is to slow and makes for a very long slow day
Potential of a great course!
Was charged more than what was quoted on the golf now site!! Site range was closed and only way to know was a taped piece of paper on the door when we got there at 7am. No beverage cart guy/girl, a nice cold Gatorade and snickers would have been nice. There was no food options available open when we made the turn. On one hole they were aerating the green and staff would not get out of the way causing the group behind us to begin hitting up on us the rest of the round because we had to wait for the home to clear.
Beautiful views
Interesting layout with beautiful views and elevation changes. Very tight off the tee on many of the holes. Better bring a lot of extra balls if you’re not driving it straight. I don’t recall a single sand bunker. For a public course it is maintained about as expected. A little rough around the edges but I would play again. Greens were patchy in places and very very slow.
Crystal Falls Golf Course
It's a great little course. The pace of play wasn't too bad. I have played here for years.
Nice place to play
Course was fun and for the most part was in good shape. There were a few greens with bare and sandy areas but for the most part greens were in good condition. All of the staff was very friendly would play here again. Just wish they had facilities for food and drink
Circus golf
To many down hill par three’s like you can barely see the greens from the tee box and to many blind tee shots
Awesome course
Great course. Some really stellar views. Course is challenging if it is your first time playing. Some patchy spots on the greens, but overall the course was in great shape.
Thank you for your feedback and the compliment on the views! We're glad you enjoyed the challenge and are working on improving those patchy spots.
Such a thing as raincheck for bad blind dates?
Have fallen in love with this course, but I did something I've never done before in 30 years of playing: left course after a few holes. Playing partners I was assigned to made me as uncomfortable as I can imagine (short of taking their clothes off or firing a handgun on the course). Luck of the draw when you are a single, I guess. That said, I love this course and travel 80 minutes to get to it, because the course is worth it.
Great golf but completely lacking amenities
Really enjoyed the golf itself. Absolutely gorgeous course. In pretty good condition but a couple greens were in rough shape. That being said, the staff at the front were a bit rough around the edges. They were arguing about things when we were in there which was awkward. There was no food to be purchased, no drink carts, and no adult beverages to even buy at the clubhouse. For $75 I feel like they should at least have something. So that was a bit odd. Other than that, my group really did enjoy the golf itself which is what matters most. I would go again. Just hope they get the amenities sorted out.
Stay focused
You have to tell yourself to pay attention. The course can jump and bite at any time. So play smart and conservative.
Thank you for your feedback on the course layout and conditions. We appreciate your insights and will consider them as we work to enhance the playability and overall experience for all golfers.
