Crystal Falls Golf Course
About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

11th Hole at Crystal Falls Golf Course, Leander TX Photo submitted by wshowers on 12/02/2012
Great layout
Great layout but the greens need a little work. Pace of play was the slowest I've ever experienced.
Fun course and great views
Was a lot of fun to play... only problem is they did not serve food/alcohol at the clubhouse.
Great
Some greens were a little burnt. #9 was particularly burnt but by no means unplayable. Staff is always friendly. Fairways and tees were good. Pace of play was quite slow, the marshals tried picking it up but to no avail. All in all, 7/10 experience. Will continue playing regularly here!
Thank you for your honest feedback; we're addressing the issues with our greens, particularly #9, and working on improving pace of play. We're glad to hear our staff made a positive impression and look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Crystal Falls - 6/7
They no longer have beer! 😩
Greens aren’t great, but they’re aerating them soon
This course is not worth your time or money.
When i first got there the clubhouse staff was very rude and treated me and my friend very poorly. And so did the starter when we started our round. we started to tee off and right before, the starter yelled at us very rudely saying that we’re five minutes behind and need to hurry up and that it is our fault. When you can still see the golfers that are a group in front of us and he didn't care if we hit them or not. The course was also not taken care of. As there were holes in the grass everywhere and the greens were all sand and were very poorly taken care of. I definitely will not be wasting my money here anymore and neither will my friends. Just a horrible course overall.
Gem is fading
Great course, can’t give it 5 stars. Needs maintenance on fairways and some of the greens were in bad shape. The back 9 was in better shape, I’m willing to give it another try in future but was expecting more
Don’t even think about going
We got there around 7:45 and staff was very rude in the clubhouse. We then purchased some balls to hit which the driving range was poor with poor mats. Then, when we went to the putting and chipping area the sprinklers were on. The course has no real “fairway” and is mostly all rough and is definitely not a good course for novice golfers. The worst part is the greens are mostly sand and your clubs get super sandy and ball doesn’t roll good at all. Starter was also very rude and told us we were 5 minutes behind when the people in front of us were only 200 yards away and he didn’t care. Awful cource don’t waste your money.
No Beverage or Food Service
Pro shop claims they “forgot” to pay their F&B Distributor. Whatever the truth is the reality is there is no food or beverage INCLUDING BEER available at the course. There was a food truck with lots of options if you want to wait for it to be cooked…I waited 20 minutes for brisket sliders that were supposedly already cooked, and there were no hot dogs or sausage wraps available at 1 PM when we made the turn. Food truck had iced down beverages, but still no beer. No change in cost of a round either. I won’t be back here for a good while. Would not recommend under current condition of “amenities”.
Day after storm. Wet, but playable.
Hard to be fair considering the very heavy rain the night before, but considering, is a very nice course, but very challenging. Will come back to give it a go when it’s dryer.
Excellent condition for a muni
It was overall a great experience.
The course condition is in great shape. Tee boxes need work, though.
I’m definitely coming back
Thank you for your positive feedback and for bringing the condition of the tee boxes to our attention. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Recommended course!
My golf partner and I took the long drive from South Austin and made it in good time, with some left over to warm up at the range. The range is small compared to other golf courses. However it was a good layout to get some quick practice in before heading out. When we arrived to the first hole, there was an employee there waiting to check us in. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the course which is useful. Out on the course, absolutely stunning. The views from the elevated tees are great. The course overall is a challenge but so much fun. Excited to return back soon to play again!
Just about my favorite course in the county.
Teed off at 9:00 on Wednesday and played a 4.5 hour round. It was busy, but kept moving. Course was mostly in good shape other than a few rough spots on the greens. The pin setter may have been going thru something because there were half a dozen pins placed within six feet of the edge of their greens. They’re prepping for a “Superintendents Revenge” tournament so maybe they’re practicing? 🤷🏻♂️. The restaurant is shut down for whatever reason and doesn’t look to be opening anytime soon so byo food and drink. There was a food truck at the turn, but it didn’t get set up til about 12:00 so we missed it. Also the range was closed at tee-off time, but that may have been temporary. Still a good value for the money.
Restaurant and bar closed
Course was in great shape, best I've seen it, and this course is always a favorite of mine. Be warned though that the restaurant and bar are closed and they are running as BYOB right now. They have some soft drinks in the pro shop but best be prepared with your own snacks and drinks.
Thank you for your kind words about the golf experience. We apologize for the inconvenience about the clubhouse offerings and are working on expanding our services.
