Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Greens and Tee Boxes!
Long time visitor of this course. Was sad they shut down over summer to get new greens, but glad they did. Have time for the course to recover. The greens are very firm and fast, but roll true as can be. Happy to have a nice course that doesn’t charge $100+ on weekends. Excited to see what it looks like come spring!
Course was well maintained and in great shape. The greens rolled a little fast. Would play this again, especially in the spring when its not so windy.

Recent Upgrades Appreciated
First time back playing the course since Summer 2024 upgrades were made. Really like the new carts and the repairs to cart paths that were badly needed. Course was in good shape as well. Still would like to see tees that play at about 5400-5500 ands 4000-4500 yards to accommodate senior and younger junior golfers. A 1,000 yard difference between tees is too large versus today’s USGA “Play-it-Forward” initiatives!

Great Time
This course is reviewed for what it is, a short course you can enjoy and move through quickly while still enjoying quality course conditions and some fun holes and unique challenges. The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was excellent. The greens were a bit long but in good condition otherwise and the course was very wet but it had just rained. This would be expected for off season golf, which could have also explained the fast pace of play
