About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Nice course for a good round of golf
Very friendly club staff and cart staff. Good course but because of winter the fairways were dry and hard. Nice pace except at the 8th whole. One recommendation I can make is, not letting four carts on the course even if it is for four one balls. I was paired with other player and so should all the one-balls.

Too crammed
The course is very “tight” some pads are next to one-another which is confusing.

Pace of Play
I would rate this course 4 stares but pace of play could be better. They put out a group of 5 golfers in front of our group of 3. Took about 4.25 hrs, not bad, but we had to wait on almost every hole. So did the group behind us. Still greens were in good shape, fast but rolled true. They have done a lot over the past year to clean up this course. Pick up pace of play and you really got a gem.

Good Challenge of a course
Overall a challenging but fun course. Most holes are pretty straight forward, but the 8th hole is one of the hardest I have ever played. Loved the challenge and would come back to play again.

Downed Trees
I played this course months ago and they had trimmed/down trees everywhere… well 3+ months and they are still throughout the course.

Good Play
Greens are very good. Winter turf is peeking through. Course is playable after day before rain. This is my go-to course.

Oak Hollow 11-2-22
Course wasin pretty good shape considering the brutal summer we just experienced. Staff was friendly and accommodating as usual. Other patrons were friendly and understanding.

Very Good Condition
I:ve played Oak Hollow over 100 times and in the past because it was convenient. But now I have to say the greens are the best they have ever been. The days of leaving a 10 ft putt 18" short are gone. Perfect speed and close to perfect conditions on the greens. That's right I said it! Fairways are average which is fine since most rounds are made or lost on the greens. Substantial work on tree trimming is appreciated! Give it a try.
