Landa Park Municipal Golf Course

About
Originally opened in 1938 as a nine-hole course, Landa Park Golf Course has since expanded by 52 acres in 1969 to make it an 18-hole course. Although it is on the shorter side, the golf course is still entertaining for golfers of all skill levels. Bordering the Comal River, there are some water hazards coming into play on the course. The fairways are wide and there are not many difficult approach shots, making it a more player-friendly golf course. Landa Park Golf Course features small, undulating greens and there are mature trees lining the fairways. Although it is fairly forgiving, Landa Park does have some challenges, including the lengthy par-5 fourth hole that stretches over 550 yards.

Landa with my pals
Everything was right on time with tee time. The course was busy but ran smoothly. We had a wonderful experience. We were a foursome of of two Texas, one South Dakotan, and one Canadian. Two of us were Winter Texans, one Texan Senior and one yournger very good golfer. We were surprised that their were not GPS on the cart. We throughly enjoyed this experience and would do this again.
Really fun course, great water features
Full disclosure, I've played maybe 10 rounds at this point. This is the shortest course I've played so far, but I had a lot of fun. Ended up playing 36 holes, and had a decent bit of rain on the front 9 of the first round. Staff was friendly, course was clean, and looked well maintained. Aerial photos showed a lot of yellow, but the course was in pretty good shape. Holes 2, 4, and 10 were awesome, as the pin is on the other side of the river. If you are not a seasoned golfer, the challenge is welcomed.
Great mix of narrow and wide fairways, with ample opportunity to work on drives and chipping. Green slopes vary quite a bit more than some of the other courses I've played, which makes you work your line a lot more.
All in all, I'm looking forward to playing this course again.
Course conditions
Greens recently air rated and sanded. If this is the case no mention made of it when scheduling a tee time? Greens slow and bumpy due to this but still paid the same rate as when greens were smooth and true? Pace of play was very slow. Waited on every hole. Lastly, sand traps hard and not consistent on each hole. Realistically diet rather than sand. No Marshall on course to keep pace of play moving. It is a good public course but lacks supervision out on course to insure the pace of play.
Course is beautiful, Scenery is very nice and the workers are friendly. The greens had been recently aerated but were still rolling fairly good. Pace of play was rather slow but you get that on a friday morning during this time of year. Would recommend this course 10/10 times and will be going back in the near future.
Wow
Staff? Rude? Yes. A "Ready to Eat" hotdog takes 20 minutes and then when you finality get the hotdog? It's cold and partially cooked. No control over the pace of play. Groups jumping in front of our group and then acting indignant whet questioned. Kids who can't even get the ball off the ground, playing from the tips and not a Marshall in sight. Place is a joke with ZERO care from staff. I think the staff realizes they've got a captured, local audience and therefore give no cares. Definitely a horrible experience overall. I've played all over the USA and the world. This place is a comic tragedy.
Short but solid
Great condition and pace of play was good. Staff was a pleasure. It's a short course so not a lot of driver but a good test of your iron game.
Per usual.
Landa is a gem as always. Greens are arguably the best in the greater SA area.
What a nice course with an excellent layout
This is my first time playing here and it was a pleasure. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I was added to an earlier group to complete a foursome and it was a good time.
The course layout is fun, we played from the gold tees and it was a distance that had me hitting 3 wood off the tee quote often. There are definitely risk/reward shots on the course and you will pay for a bad shot. The greens were in great shape and rolled true, they didn't have extreme breaks but the grain made a difference on the speed. Water and sand are in play through out the course and will get you into trouble if you are not careful.
One thing to be aware of is there is no driving range, which is OK, they have nets to warm up in and get some full swings in before the round. They have a short game and putting area to use and it had a nice distance for chipping and a bunker to hit out of.
I will be back to play this course again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to play.
My only criticism is the speed limiter on the carts and the auto shutoff if you exceed, your cart will shutdown for 2-3 seconds and then resume. You really have to pay attention to the GPS screen to make sure you are not put in the penelty box.
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to review us here at Landa Park Golf Course, and the five stars! We are glad to see that you had such a great experience with us on the day of your round, and that the pace of play was smooth. We look forward to seeing you again in the future!
