About
Originally opened in 1938 as a nine-hole course, Landa Park Golf Course has since expanded by 52 acres in 1969 to make it an 18-hole course. Although it is on the shorter side, the golf course is still entertaining for golfers of all skill levels. Bordering the Comal River, there are some water hazards coming into play on the course. The fairways are wide and there are not many difficult approach shots, making it a more player-friendly golf course. Landa Park Golf Course features small, undulating greens and there are mature trees lining the fairways. Although it is fairly forgiving, Landa Park does have some challenges, including the lengthy par-5 fourth hole that stretches over 550 yards.

The course was in its usual great condition. Because of the rain the bunkers were sloppy. Its not a hard or long course, so its great for an old timer like me (70). The fairways and greens are always very good. Thanks

Scenic and Challenging
The course is really pretty and in really good shape. You could tell they had done some recent upgrades. The greens were nice and fast
The only bad thing was the Bermuda grass rough was really high and the ball sunk down into it. Sometimes you had to be right on top your ball to find. I probably found a dozen balls and lost three or four.

A great choice
Greens are recovering from aeration which is the only negative. Otherwise, a great day at Landa!

Landa park
Course is in great shape for the greens having been aerated and sanded about a week ago

Disappointed
I was really looking forward to playing at Landa today. Got lucky on Sunday night and was able to get a "hot deal" for 1 player. This course is usually booked solid.
The 1st guy that waited on me at the counter was decent enough, but his counterpart was a real jerk when he informed me that I could not play by myself, but had to play with another group because they were "too busy". I was OK with that, and went over to the batting cage to warm up and wait my turn to tee up, thinking I would at least be introduced by the management since I was not a regular.
I was waiting by the #1 tee box, at least 10 minutes before my time when this guy came out and said I had missed my group and that if I still wanted to play I needed to catch up to them or leave and/or wait several hours before I could play. That really teed me off, but I went on and caught up with the group I was supposed to be with. Played 9 holes instead of the 18 I came for and left.
You guys should really decide if you want to be a public golf course that is run by the parks department or maybe you should just go private so the rest of you uppity clowns can play the way you want to.
You also should be really careful on who you disappoint, as you may run across someone who could buy the entire course with nothing more than a second thought...
You can substitute (jerk) (teed) (clowns) and (disappoint) with the appropriate, inappropriate words.

Great course conditions
Most courses in the area are in good shape, due to recent rains, but Landa is looking really good. The greens were a little bumpy after having been punched the prior week, but still rolled well, and were very receptive to approach shots. The pace is always a little slow at Landa, but today round was not too bad, given that it was a Sunday.

Landa Park - Best Public Course around
This morning I played with my friend and two Landa Park regulars joined us. We played in a little over 3 hours. The course conditions were great and the pace of play was good for a foursome. We enjoyed today's round. I am never disappointed when playing at Landa Park. It is the best municipal course in South Central Texas.
