Iron Horse Golf Course
About
Iron Horse Golf Course is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the golf course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you'll get your money's worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. Iron Horse's best hole is the 462-yard, par-4 third hole, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Lots of ground under repair on every fairway. This was one of the better ones. Photo submitted by Ken9948006 on 03/27/2023

Great course
Always a tough and fun course to play! A good challenge for any level golfer.
good course good price
I liked it. Played at a timely matter and was in good condition.
Nice Public Course
Iron Horse is probably one of the best public courses I've played.
The price is good, but the problem is the pace is too slow.
I will continue to play the course.
Challenging golf
If you want to use just about every club in the bag, and enjoy a challenge, this is your course. Very few holes to grip it and rip it. Lots of doglegs and water. Fairways, bunkers, and greens in good shape...especially for this time of year. However, for the price, you would think some free range balls wouldn't hurt, but it won't kill your wallet to play here.
Affordable twilight prices for a great course
One of my favorite courses around. Well maintained greens and fairways always provide enough of a challenge for all skill levels.
This course is in the middle of a busy area but you would never know it as it is set into a nice wooded area.
When I searched the Golfnow.com website I was extremely pleased to find such a great course at such a great price that fit perfectly into my schedule.
The course is a good test for all levels of golfers and was a great test for me as well playing from the forward tees. The course will force you to make good decisions or pay the price with a lost ball or a ball in the hazard.
The course condition was very pristine, as it was overseeded and very green. The greens were receptive to good shots and rolled beautifully.
Thanks Dickie Overstreet
Great Course
Was the first one out on the course, playing by myself. Breezed through the course in under 3 hours. Rental clubs were in good condition (loved the Rocketballz 3 hybrid!). Staff was extremely friendly, course was in great condition and posed a decent challenge for a first time player. Greens were firm, rolled excellent and even had some subtle grain which gave added difficulty to holing those putts, from 10 feet and in, you would typically be accustomed to making regularly. Loved the GPS in the carts, but did not care for the spots of white foam that littered the fairway. It was an unfortunate byproduct of spraying chemicals, which made finding my drives, even those dead center of the fairway, an unnecessary challenge. Overall, 4.5 out of 5. Absolutely lived up to its reputation, and I would certainly play again. I, also, appreciated the pink cups and flags, adorned with ribbons, in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Thought that was a very nice touch to an excellent, early morning round of golf.
Greens were in the best condition at Ironhorse that I have ever seen them.
Go play it, all the challenge one can get. Lots of really good par fours.
Nice course, new carts with touch screen gps, great service
Nice course. Friendly staff. Course in great shape.
not bad
Greens were nice and fast. Pace of play for a Friday was terrible. If we were able to finish 18 holes which we didn't because it got dark, it would have been close to 6 hrs. The course overall shape though was nice and challenging. Id say 8/10
Old school feel. Strategic tee shots required.
A fair and somewhat challenging layout. Not constantly playing between houses like most newer courses. Played fairly short off the whites. The blue tees would have been the better choice. Be prepared to chip from rough around the greens if you miss your approach. Don't need the driver much unless you want to cut the corners off the tee.
Decent features, well manicured fairways. Typical slower greens like public texas courses.
It's a pretty decent course, greens were well taken care of just slower than your top dollar tracks. Sand traps weren't extremely soft, but hittable from the short side. Exactly what you'd expect from a decent texas course. Easy for a mid -low handicapper.
A little short. Driver stays in the bag too much.
Not quite up to the reputation I was expecting. A little over priced. Busy though. There are way too many courses that have a better deal and are better courses.
This course has great challenging holes
Course was in great shape, the price was even better, enjoyed all the challenging holes
Great course.
Great looking golf course. The course is a little short, even from tips, but they do a good job of making u work the ball.
bad
The staff I encountered were either new or unable to perform their job. I was charged wrong amount and then missed tee time. Staffin restaurant was very uppity and slow 20 minutes for a hotdog ridiculous. also course needs signs to direct you to next tee box. not worth the money and hassle.
some real tough holes out there
greens were in good shape considering the heat we have had. Sand traps or should I say dirt traps, a bit of maintenance in this area is needed badly
ALWAYS FUN
SHOULD START SOME GOLFERS ON THE BACK NINE. THEY LET FIVESOMES PLAY LETTING THE COURSE GET BACK UP. WE PLAYED THE FIRST SEVEN HOLES THEN MOVED TO THE BACK WHICH NO ONE WAS EVEN PLAYING.
