Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.

No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

crap greens

It is a shame that there isn't a way for the courses here in the Houston area to get the watering right to save the greens here. I played 2 rounds on this trip and with even average greens they would have been great. Alas the heat and lack of watering has screwed up the courses and putting for these courses.

Playing in the Pines

Had a great time playing with a regular first thing in the morning. The course was nice with some areas that were under repair. The staff was open about the fact that they were dealing with a disease on the greens. Overall a good experience.

Pro Shop Lied

We got rained out on the front 9. Old lady in the Pro Shop said rain checks can only be issued through GolfNow. Have GolfNow call our Pro Shop and we will confirm the rain check. The following day GolfNow called and the Pro Shop denied there was any rain out. What the heck? Crooks.

Cut the Roughs

A ball rolled 6" into the rough from the fairway was often lost.

The roughs needed cutting and not inducive for a fun day with fellow 10 HCers.

Needs Some Work, Boys!

It's been several years since we played Pearland.

It was a regular round while Braeburn CC was under renovation.

Yesterday's round was disappointing where one of our foursome said, "Never again at Pearland!"

The biggest complaint was that the rough was so high, you could roll 2 feet into the rough and LOSE YOUR DANG GOLFBALL!!

Let us know when you fix this.

Pro Shop Lied About Raincheck

I’ve played here many times. They definitely don’t like people who book through GolfNow. Hurricane Francine caused heavy rains during the front 9. Everyone stopped playing. The pro shop issued rainchecks for everyone except the people who booked through GolfNow. They said we need GolfNow to call them for raincheck, and they will confirm weather conditions. They next day GolfNow called the pro shop and was told there was NO RAIN. WOW. GolfNow won’t do anything to solve this.

Fairways where meh…

They mowed the fairways and there was lots of lumps of grass on every one… the first cut needed to be mowed as well. But still a nice course to play. Pace kinda sucked when I went.. but could understand it was cart path only.

Nice course.

It's a nice little course winding through a neighborhood. The sand traps aren't too nasty, the rough ranged from bare ground to jungle deep. There is enough water to keep it interesting but there are no forced carries. The golf carts were clean and I'm good condition. All in all, a solid pick at a pretty good price for Houston area courses.

Quick Round

We played on the 4th of July and there was a group of beginners ahead of us on the first tee. But the starter drove out and asked them to wait for us to pass and after that we flew through the round. And it wasn't empty either.

Everyone just seemed to play quickly.

Pearland is a tight, tree-lined course which tests your accuracy. But it's a fun challenge and great for shorter hitters. I'll definitely be back.
