Wildcat Golf Club - The Lakes

About
Architect Roy Case created both courses on this new 36-hole, daily-fee facility that is located only 10 minutes from downtown Houston. In addition to the views of the skyline, Case had at his disposal a touch of Hill Country terrain with dramatic elevation changes, as well as the typical Houston- area prairie lands. From this he was able to carve the links-style Highlands Course and the more traditional Lakes Course.
As its name implies, the Lakes Course, which tips out at a par 72 7,016 yards, is loaded with water. The best hole is the 539-yard No. 7, which is listed as the number one handicap. Interestingly, the four easiest holes are the par 3s, which range from 165 to 218 yards.

Fivesomes made us have a 5 h round
A fivesome was playing in front of us they never bother the play others play theough, marshall never showed up
Whybare they allow to have zero respect for other players time?
This should not be tolerated or accepted by management
Hot, but manageable
Lakes has a challenging layout with many blind shots. A fun challenge after playing Highlands. We got recommendations not to play any golf at all in Houston during August, but it was very manageable with an early tee-time. Get a cart a fill it with ice and beverages!
Significant leg injury because of a grass covered, unmarked deep tube/hole at hole 7 lakes course
I did hurt my leg significantly as I fell with my leg into a grass covered at least 4 feet deep hole/tube at hole 7 on the lakes course next to the bunker. Still waiting to hear back from the manager. I showed my injury and had to stop playing because if was not able to walk anymore. No follow up by anybody,….
Lakes course is tougher
Lots of target golf with narrow landing zones, but course was in great shape. GPS system for the carts was ridiculous, especially with so many blind tee shots and needs to be revised to let you get ten yards off the fairway without shutting down. There was no signage to inform you that you were reaching GPS limit. Very painful.
18th green under repair and temporary ‘green’ was a joke. But the layout was challenging from any of the tee boxes and again, the course was otherwise in great shape.
Fun Course!!
Wildcat, the Lakes Course, is not a traditional course but we had fun!! The greens have almost recovered from aerating but they are rolling true so all good. Enjoy!!
Great Property - Recently Punched Greens
As with many of the courses in the area this time of year, the greens were recently punched... is what it is.
Other than that, there is work constantly going on on this course, which is a good and bad thing. They are constantly improving it, but also, constantly improving it. The 18th on the Lakes course is currently being re-done so the whole is currently a flag 250 yards from the tee. Don't let this deter you though, the track is still a great one!
I do prefer the Highlands course. Lakes is a nice change of pace, but it tends to not be particularly gettable...
Overall this is still one of the nicer public courses in the area and is well worth a Hot Deal.
Utterly disappointed
Course was in shambles compared to its normal. Not sure if the greens team took 2 months off and let it completely go or they are just slacking off completely. You need to warn people before payment that the greens have been punched and sanded and half the greens are dead. Also maybe tell people that 18 green is under repair and we will be playing a 240 par 4 with the “green” in the middle of the fairway… I paid 2x what the course is worth.
One of the best I’ve played
One of the best I’ve played so far since visiting greater Houston area. Course is well maintained; pace of play was good; and received a rain check for lightning delay on a previous round, so I have to come back next week to play the other course. Highly recommend!
Lakes
Hard course, 18 had a temporary green that is not in very good putting shape. Other than that the Lakes is a very challenging course.
Wildcat Lakes Course
Had a great time. Course was in good shape. Greens were consistent but a little slow. Probably protection against the heat. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Weekend mornings are not cheap but pace of play was great and we were never rushed or waiting. Can’t wait to get back out there.
Golf Now and Wildcat not on the same Page
This is the second time that I’ve booked through golf now And basically Wildcat has acted like they can’t do anything about the fact that I’m showing up in someone else’s booked for the same time I’m booked for so I booked at 7:40 and there was someone else booked at 7:40 at the same time so we got bumped to 755 and squeezed in Because the other group had booked direct through Wildcat so what’s the point in golf now if that’s the case
Every member of the staff that I’ve interacted with has been top notch. The course is in solid condition; the elevation change makes it fun and challenging with a decent amount of blind shots. Can’t wait to go back.
