About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

Nice Course but Fairways had Poor Drainage
While the fairways and greens were well maintained but drainage is an obvious issue. There was a significant amount of water accumulation on the fairways to the point where I would estimate that on one out of every two/three holes my fairway shots landed in puddles 1 inch or more deep (bad luck, perhaps). It should be noted that it had rained the day before, lightly drizzled for brief periods the day of and had otherwise remained overcast. Starting play at 2:40 pm for $60/player, my twosome was able to play 13 holes before sundown (approximately 2:40 later). No food/drink service on the course (no one on cart or in the two rest stops) but water coolers were present at a few holes (we did not use them). The carts were nice but the constant advertisements on the screen meant that course maps were often obscured when needed. Perhaps I'll play this course again on a dry day but I was unimpressed at the course value.

The fairways were very wet
Our tee time was 230pm on Nov 12. There was heavy rain the day before. When we arrived, it looks like the course was wide open but during reservation 3 days prior none was available earlier. Apparently, some had cancelled. The fairways were very wet with some areas flooded. We would have appreciated to have been informed hours before tee time of the course condition with an option to cancel.

Post-rain round
Course in good shape after lots of rain the day before. Slow round because it was "carts on path only". Tee boxes and greens in very fine condition.

Short but technical
Very short course but technical. A lot of risk reward holes that rewards shot shaping. Greens are tough but in good condition.

Worst Pace of Play
This was the slowest round i have ever played. Tee times were not spaced out properly and they had a tournament play in the morning. Took 5.5 hours to play and we had to wait at least 10 minutes per hole starting on #9.

It appears you played on Tuesday which is Ladies Day and we had an outing with a group that plays here several times per year. Since you did not leave your name or what time you teed off, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly who you are. However, we have GPS on our cart fleet which allows us to track exactly how long each cart was on the course. There are no carts that were in use that day that were on the course longer than 4.5 hours. Additionally, you make the comment that our tee time interval is not spaced properly. We run 10 minute tee times which is more than adequate for our golf course to maintain a reasonable pace of play. I am sorry that you feel it took you 5.5 hours to play, but the facts do not support your claim. It may have seemed like a long time, but we looked at every cart's recorded time because if we have a problem, we want to fix it. Your assertion seems to be inaccurate about pace of play, our 10 minute tee time interval is generous and appropriate, and our golf course is in great condition. weather beaten
the greens are in great shape, but fairways are dry and cracked, less grass. I blame it on the weather though. This course wasn't like this before the summer. It had gotten so hot and no rain for weeks. I still like playing this course. In spite of Golf course in Sugarland,Tx, where I live, I'd drive to Pearland to play golf.
