About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Golfer Reviews
Nice Course
Great time
Better than expected
Fairways and tee boxes were great. Greens were sketchy (recently punched?)
Always have a good time playing and it’s an excellent course just today pace of play was not worth the early tee time premium.
Great course
Good layout, great greens. 4-hr round. Conditions good all around
What are they doing with the carts?
I was ok with the top-dressed greens. I was ok with bunkers that had too much or too little sand. I was a little less ok watching a walking twosome (in a foursome) hold up the entire back 9. But really, what in the world are they doing with the carts?
I played here a few weeks ago and had no issue with the carts. Good course, great greens, nice layout. Today was awful. It was hot, 95 degrees, it was slow (2:30 back 9). Every single time you tried to drive to a shady spot off the cart path, the carts locked up the gps and immobilized you. You then had to wait 15-30 seconds for it to be able to move again. Twice, I simply tried to go around other carts parked on the path, and the cart locked up. I was less than 10 feet off the cart path. Other times I simply wanted to sit under a tree near the fairway while the other players played in behind me, but the cart started beeping and locked me in place. It was miserable. Several four letter words were uttered. I have no idea why management implemented this ridiculous policy. Fairways were 100% dry, barely any rough. Other carts had the same issue. We were well away from the green, near the fairway or near a cart path, and there were no ropes, signs or any notice that we were in a non-cart area. Just stupid, especially with lots of 60-80 year old men that play here on 90+degree days. I will not be back.
Greens
Greens were punched and sanded recently. Greens not worth playing for a week or 2.
Cost
Courses need to relax green fees a bit due to the pandemic, not go up
One of My Favs
Pecan Hollow did not disappoint. Although the greens were firm and hard to hold approaches, the were rolling true. Good greens, fairway lies,, and tee boxes keep this one of my favorites.
Nice course
I enjoyed this course greatly. I really dig the 1 person per cart for now. This place has great facilities short game area and range. The natural areas throughout the course are very nice and taken care of appropriately. Thanks!
Very nice course even after the rain. Greens and fairways are some of the best.
A great muni
This course is always in great shape and the greens are a hidden secret. They are always fastened smooth. Absolutely some of the best greens in the metroplex.
COST
W all the restrictions, the price should come down a bit, NOT GO UP.
Why are you raising the price? Wonder why nobody is playing, you would think there would be a small discount, a bucket of balls, a soft drink!! Anything.
