Enjoyable Round
First time I have played this course since it was Chase Oaks. I really enjoyed the layout and the condition of the course was great. The trees continue to mature and with some of the changes, holes ranged from straight forward to challenging. The greens were in nice condition and rolled true. While the clubhouse looks the same as it did way back when, it is nice, clean, and comfortable. All staff members were friendly and accommodating. Definitely will play this again.
Fun at Watters Creek
With alll the spring and early summer rains we've had in the DFW area, most courses are in good shape and Watters Creek is no exception. Other than a couple of funky holes (like #2), the holes offer some challenges to the golfer. Shot making is important. The greens are in good shape and roll true. I'm ready to play it again.
Perfect for the average golfer
First time playing, found a great deal off the hot deals.
Great layout, had some challenging water holes. and target golf on some holes.
Nice Course
First time to play this course since the re-design.
The course will test all aspects of your golf game.
Nice layout, well kept and reasonable price.
It rained the whole night before and we were told the course had about 4" of rain. We were on cart path only for the entire round.
Staff in the Proshop was friendly; in just a second, we were on our way the our game. The course layout is beautiful and sort of challenging. The course is well maintained.
We definitely will come back and play again on a good sunny day.
Good course, no problems what so ever. Met a good guy while playing also.
Very Nice City Course
Very enjoyable round. Able to divot greens (unusual on many Dallas area courses). Greens were clean (no bare spots) but slow and bumpy (bumpy may have been due to how hard you had to hit putts because of slow speed of greens, this was only negative about the course).
Stuck behind a Tourney
Warm and windy day.
Course well maintained.
Pace was a disaster.
80 person tournament teed off @1, our group of 4 was sent out @1:20.
Over 5 hours for a round is not fun on a Thursday afternoon.
Very friendly staff
But the pace of play was horrible, 1:52 pm tee time, finished just after 7pm. Every hole had at least 2 groups per tee all day.
There was no mention on golf now or at the course the greens had just been punched and were sand covered.
Very nice course
This is a course that I definitely recommend. Very nice layout; friendly staff. There is a snack hut on the course so no opportunity to visit clubhouse between front and back nine. The greens have been punched and sanded in preparation for the warmer months. Putts still role good on the greens, but should get faster when the aerihydration fully comes in. Definitely will be playing the course again.
Vaca outing
Fun day not crowded, played in 3 1/2 hrs
Going back today, saved $20 each
If only the marshals...
would keep things moving a little better.
Pet peeve. If I ever win the lottery I am going to develop or purchase a course that has "ready" in its name. Shady Valley Ready Golf Links. Marshal will give 1 warning about not playing ready golf. Caught a 2nd time and you're off the course for the day. I play with folks who say they would pay a premium to have that regulated. I know I would.
Fun course and several holes are very challenging, especially one where landing a busted middle of the fairway drive leads you to a creek area on the left and total jail. #18 into a 25 mph southerly wind can be the difference in a good round and mediocre. Brutal.
Good food and bar. Good pro shop. Good greens.
Slow
A little over 3 hours to play 9 holes but I was able to get a rain check to come back some other day. If this happens again, I probably wont come back. There are to many courses to play to wait that long especially when it can be controlled.
WTF
There are two main reasons why I was very unhappy with this course. First, I booked online for 18 holes and a cart. When I arrived, they said that I have to play the par 3, 9 hole course twice. They stated that I need to pay over twice as much as I paid if I want t play the traditional 18 hole course...a basic bait and switch.
Reason 2, they allowed about 40-50 10 year old girls to play "soccer golf" on the same exact course we were playing real golf on. We had to wait for them to play through time and time again while worrying about hitting a little girl with a golf ball every time we swung a club.
A final and less serious reason, the grass was so overgrown off the fairway that it was impossible to hit out of.
Pace of Play made the day bad
The course is in winter conditions so the fairways are hard and there isn't much soft grass but the greens are in great shape and are rolling perfectly. The staff are great and helpful and very friendly. The pace of play was bad on the back 9 was slow the foursome in front of us were several holes behind and the marshal didn't do or wouldn't do anything. Other then that it was a good round on a great course.
Good course, awful pace of play
Nice course. Fast greens a little hard but they roll excellent, in general course was in good shape. The only problem is the pace of play.
All the staff was great, the starter was a nice lady really enthusiastic, really nice.
I only saw one marshall one time, and we waited every hole. We started at 1:12 pm, and could't finish because it was dark, couldn't play 17 and 18 . By the time we reached 17 we it was 5:45 pm, 4 hours and 30 min, we 2 more holes to go. I don't know if the tee times are too close together or the marshalls don't do anything to keep the pace, but 5 hour round is not worth it.
Awesome staff
The weather was horrible - rainy, windy. The course was awesome though. Great layout, good options of tee selection, good hole variety, and good challenge. The staff was unbelievable. My wife and I were one of two groups we saw on the course and the staff gave us a covered cart and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I can't wait to play the course in decent weather.
