Great course for all abilities. Greens are beautiful, fairways are not bad. Second nine is more of a challenge but all round a nice course for a reasonable price .. more players need to play here so the new bypass doesn't destroy it.
Great course
2nd time I’ve played this course, staff fantastic and very helpful, will definitely be back soon
Enjoyable and friendly
I liked this course and really enjoyed the visitor experience there. I received a warm welcome in the clubhouse and on the course from staff & members, especially because of my well-behaved dog, who was welcomed to follow me around the course.
The course is two 9’s separated by a road. The front 9 is flat parkland with trees, water and some surprisingly deep bunkers. The back 9 is set in a valley but is a bit more open, felt a bit shorter and played more easily. This gives the course a dual-character which I liked a lot.
Members seem to look after the course well. Fairways and tee boxes are in good condition with very few divots and no litter. Greens are slow but beautifully even and well maintained. Some of the hilly par 3s on the back 9 were really memorable.
Course is mproving every time.
A nice late booking for the bank holiday Monday, as most courses were closed. Played here a fair few times and this is the best I've seen it in years.
Greens had been recently slit but were recovering well, fairways were a little long but again, very sensible given the weather we have had, some great holes, didn't play too well going out but a silly 3 putt on 18 stopped me playing the back 9 under par....
There is a fair few areas that can catch you out, plenty of areas to avoid, given its shortness it can be tricky....really enjoyed our round, nice mix of near drivable holes along with some longer ones.
Plenty of small bunker which can grab the ball.
Keep it Avisford as it's a lovely place to play....
Friendly little gem
The course was looking a little tired from all the hot weather, but you could see the hard work was keeping it together. The greens are superb in every way. The course offers a nice contrast between front and back 9’s. I would recommend this course to anyone. Great value and a pleasant environment.
We shall return
tale of two halves
First 9 holes surround the hotel and are flat . Every green was well kept, true relatively easy to read and very springy. excellent. the 2nd half was across the road and totally different. . very angular. challenging but being a first time player here I didnt know the " members bounce" shots. I didnt enjoy it as much although the greens here were also really well tended too. Great value for money and the unique metal art installations were interesting. I would play again.
Sussex hidden gem
Have played every course in the county, avisford is a gem, as of august this year it is easily in the best condition of anything in the area, the fairways arent watered but there is still plenty of grass there unlike some of its bigger more expensive neighbours. the greens are superb, smooth as butter and the tee boxes are obviously well taken care of.
The staff are very helpful and alerted me that the clubhouse would be closed and my after round drink could be taken in the hotel. well done to these guys for keeping their prices very fair when others are profiteering and offering inferior product.
Good price, great featurs
Loved it but the barrier was locked whilst we were playing, by the time we found that there was another way out we didn't have time to complete the full 18. It would have been handy to know this up front!
Great course though, would definitely like to give the full 18 a go.
Good course. Will probably go again
Overall a nice course to play. Could do with some TLC in all honesty but nothing major.
Will probably play there again.
Lovely Day
The front nine is repairing fast, on the flat no hills. The back nine is in perfect condition up and down the hills.
Dreadful
We played from a 1.24 T time at 4pm (having stopped for a drink refill as it was so hot). We found the gates back from the 18th locked!! We had to go through a hedge to get out!! This was at 4.10pm. Nb the car park barrier was also down.
I have emailed for a response but have heard nothing.
Really should a golf course lock up at 4pm on a summer day?.
Avi Park
Good course played before but it's reopened, course in good condition and greens very good
Not a great round
Sadly due to the closure of the course and the green keepers having no machinery for three months the course isn’t in great shape so the value for money isn’t there. Usually Avisford is kept in tip top condition, hopefully it will get back to that?
The bloke who served us on arrival and after our round obviously hates his job and did not make you feel welcome. This was confirmed by two members of the course when speaking to them after our round.
Golf
Not nearly as good under new ownership .Greens very poor .Shame used to be very good . Bar closes at 5.00pm not good for drink after game in afternoon .
Under repair it seems
Greens certainly under repair, like putting on glass. Was only decent since it was so quiet, but now we know why & it was hard booking a tee time. With house developments nearby I would guess course maybe no longer soon perhaps, which makes sense to not take too much care now
