The Club at Los Rios

About
The Club at Los Rios opened in the early 1970s with a Don January and Billy Martindale design that takes advantage of eight small ponds and a creek that winds through the layout.
Water is in play on over half of the holes, including the opening 485-yard par 5 that features two ponds in play off the tee, and another fronting the green.
Two very difficult holes stand out on this narrow, shot-maker’s course. No. 7 goes 431 yards but allows for a huge tee shot with a generous fairway, which will definitely help on the dicey approach over the creek into a shallow green. On the par 5 No. 14, water crosses the fairway three times from the back tees.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Pkwy. east until it dead ends at Los Rios Blvd. Turn left onto Los Rios Blvd. And continue on for 1 mile to Country Club Dr. Turn right and drive a short distance to the course–look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Temper your expectations and have fun
This track constantly has the best rates on GolfNow and every time I go it is below capacity and the pace of play is great. Lots of singles and twosomes and never many large groups clogging things up.
The course isn't the nicest but it is a good place to get in a round. There aren't a lot of places where you're going to lose your ball and the course is one of the easier ones to play at which can be nice.
There's a makeshift hole (13) that is there in lieu of some construction and the green doesn't hold a shot for anything.
Other than that just understand that you're playing a public course in east Plano. Don't expect a private club when you get there and you'll have a good time.
I would absolutely recommend this course for the price.
Course gone to the pits
This course was a prime course 15 years ago. This is was the first time I have played it in about that long. The clubhouse and parking lot are ran down. The course is in terrible shape overall. Someone told me that the course has been purchased by the city of Plano and its obvious that they don"t have plans to renovate or keep it up. Its a shame because its in a great location.
Excellent
It’s the friendly neighborhood course you want to leave work for.
Great value for the money
I am a senior who plays 3 days a week on average. The greens are now in good condition and the pace of play is excellent. The staff are friendly and courteous. Weekday rate of only $20.00 enables me to play a lot of golf.
Change of Pace
Pretty cool that they switched up the 9’s. It was a good move to change things up. I really enjoyed the greens, looked very good!
Below Average
Staff friendly and helpful. Greens are in good condition. That’s the best I can give it. The course and facilities are run down. I would not pay more than $25 including cart to play here.
Had fun, greens quicker than expected. Had a great time riding the golf board
Great Day
Staff was very accommodating in getting my group in after another course decided to cancel our Tee time because they made the mistake. We were able to get in early and enjoyed the day. Thannk you guys, we really appreciated the help!
Diamond in the Rough
Great value golf course. We played in just over 3 hours mid week. Dry weather made the t-boxes and greens hard but the setting is fantastic and pace was excellent.
I like it
This is a good course to work on your game. It’s pretty open. There are no bunkers; but it has its challenges. I like the course
H2O needed and grass mowed
We really enjoyed that the greens were very nice. Could be cut a little closer though. There are several tee boxes that needs to be watered. Broke several tees trying to get it in the ground. Also, some of the tee boxes could use a good cut, grass, weeds are way too high for a tee box. Other than that, it's valued and price appropriate except the weekend.
Done with it
First off, the pro shop staff. I guess if you're not a regular or member, you get talked to as if you're bothering them. Not expecting you to roll out the red carpet, but would be nice if you talked where I could hear you and at least look at me when I'm trying to ask for information. Secondly, every time I've played here either the holes are not where they should be and there is no notice of the change. Now there is an entire hole on the front that has been turned into a Par 3, again no notice from the pro shop. I do have more to say, but at this point it just doesn't make any sense. Good luck to all those that continue to play here and like it. I'll be moving my golf plans to other courses.
Course to work on your game
This is a good course to work on your game. They are working to improve it. It does not have sand traps. For the Golfnow value, it is worth playing.
Course condition
Course was in great shape. Construction around green on hole #4 prevented from finishing that hole.
There was no cart girl, which was a disappointment. Next round I'll be sure to ask the pro shop, before I start my round.
An ok course
The course was not in great shape by any means. Lots of hard dirt in the fairways. Greens were nice. The course is wide open and fairly easy to play. Not my favorite course I've played, but with another good deal, I might return.
on a day when i thought it would be empty, it was a parking lot. especially on the back 9. I left after 12 holes
