The Club at Los Rios

About
The Club at Los Rios opened in the early 1970s with a Don January and Billy Martindale design that takes advantage of eight small ponds and a creek that winds through the layout.
Water is in play on over half of the holes, including the opening 485-yard par 5 that features two ponds in play off the tee, and another fronting the green.
Two very difficult holes stand out on this narrow, shot-maker’s course. No. 7 goes 431 yards but allows for a huge tee shot with a generous fairway, which will definitely help on the dicey approach over the creek into a shallow green. On the par 5 No. 14, water crosses the fairway three times from the back tees.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Pkwy. east until it dead ends at Los Rios Blvd. Turn left onto Los Rios Blvd. And continue on for 1 mile to Country Club Dr. Turn right and drive a short distance to the course–look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

greens are ruined to playon.
can't play this course now. like a driving range. can't putt with any fun. some greens ok but most either closed or not worth the time to play.
You get what you pay for
I had never played Los Rios but heard great things about the course from growing up in the area. Went to play and it was the opposite of good. Fairways were decent. The first two or three holes had temporary greens that were sand and dead grass. It was awful. After about 5 holes the greens started getting a little better but still not great. Had a lot of sand and the fairways were blah. Tee boxes were bad. If the course was in better condition it would be pretty fun. You have to make good shots to shoot decent. Maybe after a couple months if rain I'll come back but only for $12 from Golf Now. Anything more seems ridiculous.
Bad Timing
I think the course could or probably is much better than what we got on Sunday. But yesterday....yesterday was atrocious. Let me first state that they were recently flooded out I guess. But if you're not ready for players then maybe you shouldn't be open yet. The greens were all muddy and recently moved. Patchy at best on most. The fairways were full of debris. Mud was everywhere. Our cart got stuck twice on the fairway in mud.
Again, I think it would've been much better after it dried out. But to me they shouldn't be open yet. If so, at least clean up the debris everywhere.
Don't play here until they fix the course
This course was in horrible conditions. There was only one green that was in decent shape along with 3 makeshift greens on the first few holes. Most of the greens had burnt grass and dead grass to the point where there was no true roll on putts and you prayed that then ball wouldn't jump all over the place. You could tell that the greens have never been sanded before and where not going to be either. They even had the mower out cutting grass at 2pm when most places are done by then. The only good part of playing here was that they had a golf board but even so it was an extra $15. The pace of play was dreadful and there was no marshal to check on anyone. I played here about 4 months ago and said i would never come back but I gave it one more chance and I should have listen to my self. This was a horribly maintained course that under the right leadership could be a great course. I will not be returning until it's under new management that knowns how to take care of a course.
Spend your $ elsewhere
Course is in terrible condition, and the greens (if you can call them that) are even worse. 4 of the 18 holes had temporary greens. The ground screw was out on the course mowing fairways in the middle of the day when it's 90+ degrees outside. No practice balls out on the range. This is in the truest form a hackers course. If you're one who likes wearing jeans and a tank top to golf in this might be the course for you, but if you enjoy the game, and like getting value for your $ , spend your time and dollars somewhere else.
No restrooms on the course!!! Course need some tlc for fairways!! Greens were horrible, more dead grass then alive grass, greens were really rough didn't know where your ball was going to go after hitting it!!!! No cart girl and it was a hot day!!!! Wasn't but maybe two or three water coolers around the course!!! Don't know if I will be back!!!
Great time!!
The staff and course was great!!! Thank you all for the awesome experience!
You Get What You Pay For
We paid $16 per golfer after fees (that included cart). For that price, as long as there are 18 holes I am not really going to complain.
Two holes had temporary greens. The rest of the course was in fair shape, but if I had paid over $25, I would have felt cheated.
Older course . Nothing special but a good value . Paired up with a great gentleman. Made the course much better
Would not recommend
The conditions were terrible and pace of play slow. There are many better options in the area.
Bad Greens
Looks like they are just trying to get by. Not very good right now
Worse greens ever
First 2 greens were temporary for damage. Rest of real greens were not any better. Almost no grass. Putts could not run true. Would not play there again.
Disgraceful
Was not expecting much, but the worst conditions I have ever played. Every green was bad and May is typically peak condition. I have seen cow pastures nicer than the fairways. Club house looked like it had not been vacuumed in 5 years. Paid 33 bucks on a Saturday morning so I should have known better.
Terrible course conditions
Cannot believe a course in Plano looks like this. Not much difference between the fairways and greens. Greens were in terrible condition. I will play somewhere else.
Slow Play. Bad Greens
If you are interested in playing a 5 hour round at a sub par course with some of the worst greens in the metroplex, then this course is for you. I got a great deal for $14 online which the receipt said it included cart, but I brought my son with me to ride along and was told it would cost $16.25 extra for him to ride with me because I only paid for half the cart. Even then, you would think I would just have to pay for the other half, but they just made rule up when I got there & were not accommodating. I ended up paying it, so it cost $30 total and was not worth it. They did not mention that they were modifying the 1st 2 greens and they were essentially the fairway grass as greens. The rest of the greens were bumpy, dry and covered in sand but not aerated. The course needed some work & they should not offer cheap specials and then change the rules when you arrive. I paid more for my son to ride in the cart with me then I did for the round. The pace of play was ridiculous and I saw a marshal riding around with 2 sets of clubs on his cart so I wasn't sure if he was playing, but he did not reset the order or say anything about how slow it was. We were initially stuck behind some amateurs who were riding 3 in a cart and hitting the ball all over the place. After 4 holes, they started passing all of the groups in front of use, but our twosome waited behind another twosome and and a foursome for 11 of the 18 holes. One of the worst golf experiences I have had in a long time, with the last one being at this same course last summer.
