The Club at Los Rios

About
The Club at Los Rios opened in the early 1970s with a Don January and Billy Martindale design that takes advantage of eight small ponds and a creek that winds through the layout.
Water is in play on over half of the holes, including the opening 485-yard par 5 that features two ponds in play off the tee, and another fronting the green.
Two very difficult holes stand out on this narrow, shot-maker’s course. No. 7 goes 431 yards but allows for a huge tee shot with a generous fairway, which will definitely help on the dicey approach over the creek into a shallow green. On the par 5 No. 14, water crosses the fairway three times from the back tees.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Pkwy. east until it dead ends at Los Rios Blvd. Turn left onto Los Rios Blvd. And continue on for 1 mile to Country Club Dr. Turn right and drive a short distance to the course–look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

0 stars. Horrible. Never going back.
Greens were AWFUL! Pace of play was SLOW. Horrible experience.
Greens
The 1st 2 holes had temporary fake greens about 20-50yrds in front of the original greens where they scalped the ground in an oval. 3rd world country stuff. Then the airiated greens were a lot of just dirt without any grass at all. Pretty rough
Sandy greens
Extreme course maintenance made this round of golf frustrating at best. Maintenance in general is understandable, but in this case with only nine holes open for play, you either have a putting green covered in a thick glaze of sand, or ..a temporary false green made of "not-so-recently-shaved" ..fairway bumpy and with patches of clover. A well placed drive from the tee may still find hard and cracking dirt instead of grass. The cart paths are a bumpy pot hole filled ride. I paid the "Hot deal" price, and it was far too much for this experience.
Horrible greens
This course is in severely bad shape. The greens are burnt up and horrible. The other added bonus is from holes 3-5 you get a lovely sewage smell. I wouldn't pay more than $20 to play here.
The hole layout is challenging and the only thing going for it.
Needs improvement
Good layout, overpriced for the quality of course and lack of amenities.
It's a bargain!
Course wasn't in the best shape but not too bad. Some greens were sparse on grass and they all rolled a little funny. Fairways were good. Staff were nice and cart girl came around regularly so that helped to make it more fun. I'd say for the $22 fee it was well worth it.
Review for Los Rios Golf Course
This golf course is an absolute waste of money. The management is terrible and course is in terrible condition and is definantly no place for a half decent golfer. A friend and I played on the course and the first thing that we saw in hole one was the manager racing up in his golf cart, yelling at a single for playing up with us to make a threesome. Pace of play was awful. Greens are basically carpet with craters in them while playing in mounds of sand and dirt. You cannot tell the fairways from the rough. Overall this course is a terrible example of a golf course. I would never, ever recommend this golf course to a player who is trying to enjoy the game. For a country club, I expect better, not some run down pile of junk.
Goat Farm
There are no defined fairways, period. Hitting from the fairway was no better than playing around in your back yard, very weedy and not kept up at all.
Water on several holes makes for challenging play, greens run fast but are not repaired by players or the course.
Overall the course has a run down feel to it, and was definitely NOT worth the money I paid. I would put this course at no more than $25-$35 at best, especially with all the choices in the DFW area.
Course is Better than recent review say so.
First time playing the course and I enjoyed it. I usually play golf about 15 times a month. So the course is a little older and the club house could use some updating, but all in all not bad. The course was in fairly good shape: the fairways didn't have weeds every where like some reviews had mentioned and I don't remember one time having to move my ball to get on grass; yes the greens still have had winter grass and were really fast, but it made the course that much harder. The green rolled fairly true and I didn't notice any over seeding. The course is sneaking long it you play from the back tees and has like 6-7 400 yard + par 4's & some really short par 3's. The cart lady was very attentive and saw her several times so our group didn't lack any refreshments. I would play this course again.
Worst greens I've ever seen
Fairways are hard as a rock, like hitting off concrete a lot of the time. Tee boxes are poor to very poor, and the greens are just horrendous. As in dead, literally. It's wide open though, I'll give them that. This is a probably only suited for a beginner or occasional player.
Greens were awful
Everything was good (pace of play was great, we had a hole behind us and a hole in front of us free) except the conditions. There are weeds everywhere, fairways are not very good, but the greens were the worst part. You will lose strokes because of the brown, dirt-clodded (over-fertilized?) greens. All of the other courses' greens I've seen in the last 6 weeks are in really good shape, and most of those have golfnow deals for 15 to 25. Los rios was 25 on golfnow, I wouldn't even go back for that price.
Old course
This is a old course and not very well maintained. The greens are dormant and very rough. The fairways are patchy and hard. The t boxes are in bad shape. I am glad I only paid 16$ for this course but I guess you can't expect to much for that price.
Nice course for starter
Excelent course for starter pace of play is fair not presure from other players, be back for sure
Staff doing great work on course
Have removed a lot of trees an obstructions from course. Great value and very nice course.
fairways are not good
played Sunday and the fairways were awful. hard, patches of overgrown grass, and just overall very poor. I like this course but they need to do something to get their fairways in better shape. I enjoy playing here but its not worth the money at this point. Until they get better I will play somewhere else for the same price and better fairways.
Great Course
First time to play here. Enjoyed it very much!
Found the water to be somewhat challenging, but enjoyed the course very much!
