A little burnt
Not the fault of the green staff, but the course was a little burnt out after the heat wave so made for some very bouncy and fast conditions
Considering though, greens were good, and staff were very friendly.
Only downside is we weren’t allowed to play off the white tees. Asa scratch golfer I prefer to play courses of the whites, but we were told no.
Other than that a fun course and some fantastic scenery
Lacks any practice facilities though other than a putting green
Really fun test
Even with all the rain over the past year then course was rock hard and the strike off the turf was like playing off a mat. Great fun course that's very tight but not long at all. Best play is a long iron down the middle of every hole as it rolls out 30-40 yards! New Forest horses roam freely but despite that only one green had hoof marks and the other greens were superb - some of the very best greens I've ever pitted on! I'll definitely be back. £30 is a little overpriced but I had the course to myself and I had a great time so it's a minor gripe.
Charming little course
Really enjoyed Burley in the heart of the New Forest. Plays as 2 9’s with different tee positions. A couple of really interesting holes where position is key. The greens were rock hard and rapid, but maintained nicely. I three putted more than I care to remember! Fairways were patchy in parts, but to be expected with so much wildlife on course. Pace of play was slow on front 9 (2hrs 20), but back 9 was much quicker in under 2 hours. All in all good value for money and a charming old school clubhouse. I’ll come back again for sure.
Guys in clubhouse wer happy and helpful
Very windy day for golf but they wer open and very helpful. Very friendly
Quirky New Forest course.
A lovely warm welcome when we arrived, quick verbal guide about the place, nice fast putting green, a couple of nets with masses of balls for a warm up.
Bundles of horses around the car park, course was in good condition and rather different to most others that you'll ever play, some long holes , where it's too very decent hits to the green, only 3 par 3s over the 18 holes, if you play off the 2 sets of tees!
2nd is a lovely hole, as is the 3rd and 7th, all very different and most demanding a good landing spot.
Plenty of trees in places along with the ferns...masses of wildlife, really enjoyed here, first 9 we sped around, 2nd 9 a bit slower, but still around in very good time.
Well worth a visit as somewhere different, you'll do well to play to handicap if the winds up...
A great day's golf
Second time of playing a round here, and I reiterate all the positives repeated with my first round. Only negatives are the signage to the next tee positions after finishing a hole is often weak, and seems to be mixed up in the two sets of tee locations on some holes with the first nine holes to playing the second nine holes. As newbies to this course we found this very confusing, but felt sure even the more regular players would still be confused.
Golf in the New Forest
With beautiful scenery and wild ponies, golf doesn't get much better than this. A fantastic day out, even if my score said otherwise.
A Lovely Course
This course has lovely scenery and is superbly maintained. Considering the vast amount of rain during March there was hardly a semblance of a puddle anywhere on the course. The fairways were in great condition as were all the greens and bunkers. I really enjoyed my round
Great greens
Fantastic greens especially for a forest course.
Short holes but still tough.
