Sad

I have just come back into golf after 20 years I started playing at Cannock Park when it was nine holes watch it develop to18 holes I remember the time they had a club professional and green staff I was expecting much improvement sadly it's not as good as it used to be put that down to the council not spending any money there the golf playing community of Cannock deserve better

Showing neglect

Played Cannock many many times and have always found it challenging but recent years are showing a lot of overgrowth and particular neglect to the bunkers, as in no sand ,very stoney and no manicured edges, this wouldn't take a lot to vastly improve.

Good for practice

got lucky as it was a quiet day.. course a bit back and forward and a lot of cross fairway dangers. greens were poor and slow but as a cheap practice round learn to play golf you would to well to beat it.. really enjoyed my day

Good value but busy

Course played fine. It is used by a lot of local walkers, and we came across several groups of golfers who seem to appear from nowhere - not convinced they had paid. This resulted in up to 4 groups waiting to tee off by the time we got to the 13th hole or so, slowing play right down.

Cannock park golf club

Course was nicely looked after but it was hard to find our way around as there was limited markers as to where to go to the next hole & we got lost a couple of times especially on the front 9

Shouldn’t complain too much though as it was good value for money

Great for practice

Cheap and cheerful, ashame the council have made cut backs to the course maintenance and let the bunkers overgrow, but greens are a fair standard and fairways and rough always cut well great credit to the groundstaff who must have to contend with restricted budget. overall a fair test of the average golfers skill, and a good place to practice especially midweek twilight times.

Budget course; Great condition

Played a leisurely 18-holes at this high quality municipal course and was quite surprised at how great the fairways and greens were looking and playing. The course is also open access to anyone wanting to play with no membership fees (book on line or just turn up and pay & play) and therefore also no snooty members. All levels also playing from young to old, beginners to seasoned players with low handicaps.… my round cost less than £20 👍🏻

Left after 9 holes

No buggy available should be notified when booking

No staff around to stop unpaid people playing course

Pace of play not at all waiting all the way round which is part of the game but not good

That's the bad out the way

In good condition looked after great course to play

Enjoyed the 9 holes I played

People who pay for the game should be looked after more

Great course, if it was longer and private you'd pay £35-40 a round

What a fab course, loads of undulation, and some lovely holes. It is such a great price I cannot believe it is municipal. It is quite short so you will be able to score pretty well but overall it is great. Fairways were in good condition and green were good too.

Decent muni course but a bit bland

Overall decent course though played better for £16.99 special deal I got. Some good holes but most were average 320 par 4s. Greens a bit slow but in good condition as were fair ways. Tee boxes ok. Bunkers were in shocking condition. Biggest gripe was lack of signage direction from hole to hole. Worth playing but I do t think you’d be back every week

Going downhill fast

Used to be a decent course but lack of investment is taking its toll. Grass is very long - even on some of the fairways. Still using winter mats - in the middle of April! And why have we got 3 temporary greens after some dry weather. Time to look elsewhere.

Not bad for a council run course.

Need to get dog walkers to stick to paths and not actually walk on the course including the greens.

Also lots of people sneaking onto course from damaged fencing.

Could be a nice course if managed properly.

Wet weather
Walked

Not a fair assessment

Unfortunately the weather was very poor (wet and windy) and the course conditions were close to being unplayable - the course had been closed a day or two before because of snow and waterlogged conditions. However, it was an enjoyable experience and I could see that in summer (with proper tees and greens rather than temporary) this would be a good challenge, definitely return. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Oh dear

It just gets worse. Used to be a cheap and cheerful course, but now it's almost unplayable.

Granted its only £14, but zero investment over the years have left it in a dreadful state.

Come on Cannock council, could be a gem and make you a profit?

Good course

Overall a great course, good layout with nice elevation changes.

Slight downside is overall condition could be improved as in tee box’s and greens with slight wear and tear.
